Google Play Canada Store: Get 50%+ Off 7 Great Android Indy Games
The internet is the great equalizer between independent games and the big guys. Level the playing field a bit more by supporting the little guys by getting 50% or more off with the Google Play Store!
The internet is seriously the great equalizer between the big companies and the little game makers. It used to be that if you wanted to sell a game, you needed to have it distributed in stores and that pretty much only happened for big companies. There were some independent developers out there like the amazing crew at Pendulo Studios, but they were usually stuck behind something else. Nowadays, with the internet, the playing field is a little more even. Yeah, most companies are still gonna put the big name games up front, but it's easier to find those weird, independent games that we all fall in love with at one point in our gaming lives.
If there is anything that can rival what the internet has done it's smartphones and tablets and, if I were going to get political for a moment, Android. Anyone can put anything on Android (as long as it isn't malware) and sell it or give it away. A few of those small game makers rise above the rest and, in this instance, get featured in a sale on the Google Play Store. These are the games:
- GearJack - Now $1.04
- SpaceChem Mobile - Now $3.14
- Jack Lumber - Now $1.99
- Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery - Now $1.99
- The Walking Dead: Assault - Now $1.59
- Combo Crew - Now $1.04
- The Room - Now $1.04
- Containment The Zombie Puzzler - Now $1.04
I don't know the before prices but they are all at least 50% off. Also, the prices are converted to CAD from USD. If the exchange rate changes a lot, the prices might change in kind.
I immediately picked up Combo Crew based solely on the fact that they have Viewtiful Joe (!!) in the logo. If Capcom thinks this game is good enough to let Viewtiful Joe in it, I'm down. Combo Crew is 50% off. The other one I grabbed is The Room, which is already a huge success and is a really cool looking puzzle game. It just recently (yesterday or the day before) got an expansion to add another puzzle to the game. This one, I think, was a $4 game at one point, so you could be saving up to 75% if that price is correct and if it stayed there.
Once you've picked up some of these awesome games, take a look around the Play store and find some other independent games. Let us know what your favourite indy game is so we can all check them out and support the small developers making awesome games.
