What you Need to Know about Amazon Prime Video

Amazon Prime Video is here to stay! We made a detailed list of everything you need to know about Amazon Prime Video so you can go in with both eyes open.

The diagnosis: if you're an online shopper, it makes total sense to use Amazon Prime Video, because you not only get access to unlimited free 2-day shipping on online purchase, you also get access to Amazon Originals. I am a HUGE fan of the Amazon Originals that have been released since the launch of Amazon Prime Video and since I also shop online, it's a no-brainer to just pay for Amazon Prime -- I probably spend more than $100/year, so am getting access to quality programming for basically free.

There are other benefits to getting an Amazon Prime Membership, like unlimited cloud storage, access to Twitch Prime, and early access to deals throughout the year (but especially during online sale events like Black Friday and Amazon Prime Day). You can read more about Amazon Prime Memberships here. And if you're a student, you can actually get it for free for six months! Click here for more information about Amazon Prime Student.

Where can I find an Amazon Prime Video Canada List?

Let's be clear, Amazon Prime Video is not Netflix, Crave TV, or Hulu. The selection is not as impressive, but they have some high quality original content with stellar actors, like Billy Bob Thornton (Goliath), Jeffrey Tambor (Transparent) and Kelsey Grammar (The Last Tycoon); not to mention heavy-hitting directors like Woody Allen (Crisis in Six Scenes) and Ridley Scott (The Man in the High Castle). Here's a list of Amazon Original series available in Canada:

  • The Tick
  • American Gods
  • The Man in the High Castle
  • The Grand Tour
  • Bosch
  • The Last Tycoon
  • Goliath
  • Sneaky Pete
  • American Playboy: The Hugh Hefner Story
  • Hand of God
  • Patriot
  • Comrade Detective
  • One Mississippi

  • I Love Dick
  • Z: The Beginning of Everything
  • Good Girls Revolt
  • Crisis in Six Scenes
  • All or Nothing
  • You are Wanted

Where do I get a list of Amazon Prime Video shows?

If you want a full list of everything available on Amazon Prime Video, I hate to say it, but you'll have to try out the subscription. They get new titles every month in different regions. When trying to figure out how many titles there were, I searched under the genre "Comedy" and found over 450 titles, under "Drama" there were over 900. So... That's a lot of titles. I found a bunch that I've never seen on Netflix before, so I'm happy for some alternatives.

More questions? Comment below and we will be sure to get to them asap. I could keep telling you more about Amazon Prime Video, but I just realized that they have the new series "The Night Manager" available, so if you need me, I will be glued to my phone watching that ;)
