Royal Bank Canada: Free iPad Mini With New Account

Royal Bank Canada: Free iPad Mini With New Account

ipad

Want a new iPad Mini free? Simply open up a new bank account at Royal Bank and they'll give you. Of course, there are some restrictions and important details to know.

To get the free iPad, you need to open up one of two accounts. The first account is the Signature No-Limit banking account, which I actually used to have, and it was a great account. The monthly fee is $14.95, but if you have multiple products with RBC, you'll get it for $10.95. It includes 15 free e-transfers, three free ATM fees, unlimited debits and much more.

The second account is the VIP banking account, which is $30 a month or $22.50 with a rebate on multiple banking services. You can send e-transfers, use ATMs and have unlimited debits, all included in your price. You'll also be eligible for three other free bank accounts.

Once you've set up your account, you also must either set up two pre-authorized payments or have one regular payroll deposit go in. Once that happens, they'll ship you your iPad Mini. You have until August 30th to get this done.

There are a number of FAQs, which you should read through first and one of the questions (which I had myself), was if I was a RBC bank account holder, but am no longer, do I qualify and yes you do, as long as you didn't have an account before today (April 14th).

You can apply right online, or go into a branch.

(Expiry: 31st July 2014)

Also, if you close your RBC account before August 31st, 2015 - RBC will charge your $319 plus taxes because of cancelling your bank account. This ipad's retail value is around $260 to $299. The monthly fees that you mentioned above are $14.95 per month. you must sign up by July 31st 2014 --> July 2014 to August 31st 2015 = 14 months x $14.95 = $209.30 (excluding any extra ATM withdrawals you might make). This deal is good if you were looking to switch banks anyways. If not, its not really worth it. You are paying for the ipad by way of monthly account fees. Regards, Johnny Cash

You are paying for bank frees anyway. Also is $11 a month after rebate and if you are already banking with one of the big 4 you are paying at least that anyway

Yes, they do charge a $14.95 fee per month, so if you're already paying this with no benefits ("free" ipad mini) then you may as well switch to RBC. Hell, why not.

One thing to note also from their FAQ (http://www.rbcroyalbank.com/open-an-account/ipadmini/faqs.html) is that the iPad Mini you are getting is _not_ the most recent version of the iPad mini. It is stated as a model 1432 which according to MacTracker is the non-retina display model with a 32-bit architecture A5 chip. It will still run the forthcoming iOS 8, but perhaps not further than that. Just something to keep in mind. ____ Q: Can I exchange my iPad mini for another product? A: No, you will receive the Apple iPad mini 16GB, WiFi, model #1432, which is not exchangeable for any other product.

Question: Can you keep a min bal of 1K or 5K and NOT pay the monthly fee? can you have NO deposits monthly and no woth drawals, why do they want this?

You'll need to ask the company themselves Kevin, we can't help, sorry.

I just found out today about your promotional offer and I was really disappointed. I have been a loyal RBC customer for more than 50 years and never have I received any type of "special deal" for being a customer. I am over 65 years of age, on a limited retirement income, and would love to have an IPAD but it is beyond my reach. Maybe it's time for me to look at another bank and what they have to offer.

I never recieved this offer. I had opened the account and had done everything i.was supposed to and never received the ipad mini

HI Betty, you'll have to contact the Royal Bank. Thanks.

I set up my account in August 2014 with correct deposit and was expecting my iPad to arrive mid October it did not arrive I went to the bank to enquire nd they told me everything was in order an I could expect it at anytime three more weeks had passed and I received a call from the bank telling me that the type of deposit I was receiving ( disability) did not qualify me to receive the offer however I could still be eligible if I set up two pre authorized bill payments I set up my hydro and my cell phone carrier. My accounts with these two parties are in good standing and cannot expect to see a payment made to each of them until late December which I am now told I too late to qualify me for the offer I feel cheated as the bank indicated to me when I set up the account with direct deposit that I qualified for the offer and I should expect delivery of my iPad mini six eight weeks after my first direct deposit was received secondly when I had equiredabout its delivery in October I was told everything was valid and in order there was no indication of any problem thirdly the account I opened I opened with the aid of the branch service manager surely this person should have known to tell me that direct deposits made by the government disability do not qualify client for this promotion offer and finally once the discrepancy was discovered I should Ave been given ample time to set up pre authorized payments and have those payments go through

The same thing has happened to me except that it was with my child tax benefit. I went in previously and had them check and same thing everything seemed fine and they said if you haven't received it by the end of March come back in....low and behold now they tell me that my direct deposit didn't qualify but at no point did anyone let me know that. They said that there was some confusion and that the terms & conditions have changed now and are more clear for the promo starting up again. A lot of good that does me now, they even mentioned that the employees weren't clear on this situation. The branch service manager I dealt with was obviously one of those people. The sad thing is my husband works for RBC DS and if they don't qualify me for the ipad mini based on my current direct deposit I will be closing my account. Part of why I did it was because of where he does work and thought I should probably have an account to but this service is terrible. The customer service person I spoke to said she would look into it for me and speak with a manager and get back to me but it might take a week or so. REALLY!

I opened the account on June 15 but received my first paycheck until 17 July and, unfortunately, failed to qualify for promotion. and I am very unhappy with this because he only offered me the lack of fees account for 3 months

My daughter called the bank to ask about my grandson opening an account and receiving the iPad mini.  They told her so long as he was 15 everything would be fine so into the bank went my daughter and 17 year old grandson.  She inquired again once in the bank about the iPad mini and the representative told them "no problem".  My grandson opened an account.  Once through, my daughter asked when he should expect his iPad.  The representative said, "he won't be getting an iPad mini.  According to Apple rules he has to be 18".  My daughter asked the Royal Bank of Canada TWICE about the iPad mini promotion.  They assured her everything was fine and it was, to them, they got another customer without honoring their committment.  If this bank will short change a 17 year old, I won't let them any where near my money.  The bank didn't set a very good example for my grandson.  "Shame, shame Royal Bank of Canada"
