I heard yesterday that the Christmas holiday shopping season gets longer and longer each year, with more people shopping earlier and earlier. Stores do capitalize on this by doing great deals early in the season, which entices you to get things done. We are all insanely busy (I know I am) and Christmas shopping really is just another thing on my list of to-dos. It is a fun to-do, but it still feels nice to cross that off.
