CanadaComputers.com: Kingston Elite USB 3.0 Flash Drives up to 22% Off
USB 3.0 is the new hotness. The new hotness is expensive. CanadaComputer is fighting the expensive hotness with their deals on Kingston DataTraveler Elite USB 3.0 flash drives.
There are two drives available here. The 32GB drive was $44.99. You save $10 which means you only pay $34.99. Its 64GB counterpart is normally $84.99 but after the $15 instant rebate you're going to get it for only $69.99.
USB 3.0 is still fairly new so I'll fill you in on a couple of key points as to why it is better than 2.0, other than the fact that it has a 3 instead of a 2 (we all know 3 is one better than 2). The first big difference you're going to notice is the speed. USB 3.0 is theoretically over 10 times faster than USB 2.0. Keep that theoretically in mind. You will never actually get 5Gbps like is advertised. Nevertheless, it's gonna be noticeable faster than USB 2.0
One of the other benefits is that USB 3.0 can read and write at the same time. With USB 2.0 if you wanted to copy something off of a USB hard drive at the same time as you move something to it, your computer would have to stop moving data in one direction before it moved anything in the other direction. Of course this happened multiple times per second so it' not like you'd notice your computer stopping and starting file transfers but it did slow everything down considerably.
The last big benefit here is that, unless it's being used as a charging cable, USB 3.0 uses less energy.
It should be noted that to use the benefits offered by USB 3.0, you need USB 3.0 compatible hardware in your computer. If you don't have USB 3.0 in your computer, you can still use this drive as a USB 2.0 drive.
