Apple Canada USB Power Adapter Takeback Program

Apple Canada USB Power Adapter Takeback Program

Today, Apple started a program called the "USB Power Adapter Takeback Program." Simply, this program is designed to get counterfeit and third party adapters that have been found to present safety problems to your device off the street. As of today, you can drop your questionable-for-Apple-products USB power adapter off at an Apple Store or at an Authorized Service Provider, and they will dispose of it properly.

As a special thanks, you can purchase one Apple USB power adapter at a special price — $11 CAD per device. I'm not exactly sure which adapter you would get - probably depends on your device, but these adapters usually cost around $19 to $21. You need to bring your iPhone, iPad, and/or iPod into the location for serial number validation. The special pricing is limited to one adapter for each iPhone, iPad, and iPod you own.

Some people might say this is not really a deal, but I think it is. First off, when you bring in that counterfeit or third party adapter, you are getting a good discount on a legitimate Apple USB adapter. Depending on which one it is, you are saving $8 - $10, which is a good percentage of its price. Secondly, if the non-Apple power adapters are damaging your device, it is important to fix that as soon as possible, as not doing so could cost you a lot of money in the future!
