Parents with babes, check your paci stocks, there has been a recall on Munchkin brand Latch Lightweight Pacifier & Clip Sets.
This product was available in Canada from July 2014 to February 2016 and approximately 16,000 units were sold.
There are four varieties of pacifier affected:
- Munchkin Latch Lightweight Pacifier & Designer Clip, 0m+, Natural Shape
- Munchkin Latch Lightweight Pacifier & Rattle Clip, 0m+, Natural Shape
- Munchkin Latch Lightweight Pacifier & Rattle Clip, 6m+, Orthodontic
- Munchkin Latch Lightweight Pacifier & Heartbeat Clip, 0m+, Natural Shape
These four varieties of pacifiers were sold as a set and this is what is being recalled, so if you find one, make sure you check carefully to see if you may have more from this set in your home. Pacifiers sold individually (one paci, one clip) are not included in this recall, but if you're not sure if yours came in a set or not, you should contact Munchkin to find out.
The issue with these soothers is that the colourful disk attached to the metal plate of the pacifier clip has been detaching and posing a choking hazard to young children. No reported injuries as yet, but several reports of the piece breaking apart.
If you find any of the Munchkin Latch Lightweight Pacifier & Clip Sets in your home you should immediately take the recalled pacifier holders away from children and contact Munchkin for a replacement Latch Lightweight Pacifier – 2 Pack or refund.
