The CFIA is conducting a food safety investigation due to the recall of the products listed below, which may lead to the recall of other products. If other high-risk products are recalled, the CFIA will notify the public through updated Food Recall Warnings.

Recalled:
- Fresh chili peppers imported by Canada Herb and sold from June 19, 2016 to July 05, 2016. This product has been sold in clear plastic bags containing approximately 454 g, bearing the name Canada Herb. This product may have also been sold in bulk or in smaller packages with or without a label and may not bear the brand or product name described below. Consumers who are unsure if they have purchased the affected product are advised to contact their retailer.
- Veg-Pak Produce Ltd. brand Hot Peppers – Red Thai, in a 75 gram size, with the UPC code 0 59559 00021 4, and the following code(s) on the product: A496201 186, A518901 186, G496201 185, C496201 181
- Veg-Pak Produce Ltd. is recalling Longo's brand Hot Red Thai Chili Peppers Red Thai from the marketplace due to possible Salmonella contamination, sold in various sizes. This includes all units sold up to and including July 6, 2016. UPC code will start with 0200175

From the Healthy Canadians Government of Canada website:If you have these Canada Herb Fresh Chili Peppers, Veg-Pak Produce Ltd. Hot Peppers Red Thai or the Longo's Hot Red Thai Chili Peppers, you should dispose of them safely or take them back to the place or purchase. Do not consume them. If you have eaten the recalled product and are feeling ill, contact your family physician.
No one has reported illness from consuming this product.
Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections. Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis.
