LCBO Now Offering Online Shopping

It was announced Tuesday that the Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) had officially launched online shopping!

LCBO customers can now browse and purchase from an online selection of nearly 5000 products. This is supposed to grow to up to 16,000 products being offered by next year. It gives customers the choice of local, Canadian and international wines, beers, ciders and spirits no matter where they are in the province. They've even stated that there will be around 800 products that will be exclusive to and not available in any of their retail outlets.

Here's the catch: it's not exactly Dial-A-Bottle. You'll have the option of having your order shipped to an LCBO store, free of charge, for pick-up or you can fork over $12 (plus tax) for shipping via Canada Post. Online orders will take two to 3 days to arrive at your door but you'll have to wait anywhere from 4 to 12 days for your order to be available for pick-up at your local store.

Customers still need to verify that they are of legal drinking age prior to placing their order and someone with valid ID will need to be home to receive the shipment if you've opted for delivery and, of course, ID must be presented for in-store pick-up.

So, Ontario residents: what do you think of the LCBO's new online shopping option? Will you take advantage? Would you pay the $12 for delivery or opt to pick up your order in store?
