Check Out These Adorable Sheep Cupcakes

Spring is almost here. I can feel it in the air! To celebrate, I have been pinning hundreds of cute spring recipes. I am not even kidding, hundreds. Among the variety, I've found these awfully cute Sheep Cupcakes. These treats are simple enough to make with the kids if you desire, or make them on your own when the kids are at school.

You can make the cupcakes yourself, or buy them already made and just decorate them. I will opt to make them myself for more fun with the kiddos.

Here's what you're going to need:

  • 150g flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 125g butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • black icing
  • mini white marshmallows
  • 1 tbsp icing sugar
  • black food colouring

The directions are pretty simple. First, preheat your oven to 180 Celsius and set up 14 muffin papers in your muffin tin.

Sift your flour and baking soda into a bowl. Mix it well while adding your butter, icing sugar, eggs and finally your milk. You can use your electric whisk to mix it up until the mixture is nice and fluffy.

Pour your mix evenly into the fourteen muffin spaces. Be sure to leave a little space for the treats to rise. They will need to bake for 20 minutes or until a tooth-pick comes out clean. Then you can let them cool on a wire rack and prepare yourself for the fun part.

Using your black icing, make 14 "heads" with ears on wax paper. You can mix icing sugar with a tiny bit of water, and then add a couple "drops" to each head to make the sheep eyes. If you want to cheat a little bit, you can use construction paper to make the sheep heads. Just be sure to tell people to remove that part before consuming the treat.

Then you can use icing to make a sort-of domed shape on the cupcakes. Mallow icing would be best for this, I think. There are oodles of different recipes for that or just use the Betty Crocker ready made stuff in black or white. Then cover each little delicious cake in your mini marshmallows. Be sure to gently press them into the icing so they stay.

To finish up, stick the dried sheep heads onto the tiny cakes of joy. How cute!?

Thanks to ASDA Good Living for posting this recipe for us to enjoy.
