Canadian Freebie: Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code Free @ Kobo Books

Kobo Books Canada is offering The Da Vinci Code ebook by Dan Brown absolutely free for the next few days! This is a fun book to read and certainly a great freebie you don't want to miss out on.

I am sure everyone has heard of this book! It was a bestseller when it came out in 2003 and caused quite the controversy due to its religious themes even though the book is, and always will be, fiction.

I read this book seven years ago, and as a sucker for a good mystery, I finished the book in two days flat! It was a fun read and perhaps even more fun because I am not Catholic so the huge religious undertones (and overtones) didn't bother me. I know some people have taken issue with Dan Brown's use of religion in his books... but I think it is an excellent setting for a mystery. As religion is based on faith, what better place to stage a mystery which is based on a lack of facts?

What some people have criticized, and what I actually rather liked about the book, is anyone can read it. You don't need to have a dictionary on hand to define big scholarly words because an author thinks himself unable to write at the common level of understanding. This is where Dan Brown excels: he has wrote a fun and interesting novel that is of a reading level that anyone should be able to enjoy it. He also managed to write a book that heavily involves religious symbolism that even a non-religious person or someone from a different religion could enjoy.

So, if you like a good mystery or you like free books, I suggest picking up The Da Vinci Code for free.
