While I don't like thinking of Christmas until after Halloween, Christmas is coming and there are plenty of great deals to score. I have been looking at Christmas-themed gifts that I would have loved to receive as a kid, and this Slice & Bake Christmas Cookie Set by Melissa & Doug tops my list. This set is only $19.99 with free shipping at Shop.ca right now.

This is the best price for this Christmas Cookie Set anywhere online in Canada. I found the same cookie set for $24.99 @ Best Buy Canada, $24.99 @ Amazon Canada, on sale for $22.49 (was $24.99) @ All-Star Learning, and $29.99 @ Well.ca. While All-Star Learning is only a few dollars more, you would have to pay shipping: that substantially increases the price there.

This slice and bake cookie set is pretty cool. Your child gets a roll of 'cookie dough' that they can pretend to slice cookies out of. The tube includes 12 sliceable cookies with 12 different decorative tops. After slicing the cookies, your child can stick them on the bake sheet.

The set also comes with an oven mitt, knife, spatula, and pretend baking instructions. The cookies and the baking sheet are wood, as are the utensils (but not the oven mitt!). It looks like the cookies adhere to the pan with Velcro, so they can move the pan without the cookies getting all messed up or falling off.

This is a fantastic way for your child to enjoy the holiday season. Young children can pretend to bake with their parents and they can pretend bake on their own. I like that this set is made by Melissa & Doug as they make good quality wooden toys for children that last ages.

One reviewer at Well.ca said:

This was purchased as a present for a 2-year old female. She absolutely loved it. My 2-year old was also fascinated by it and wanted to play with it and share the cookies with everyone around the table. It does come with some ideas on how to use this toy to engage in interactive play with your little one

Another reviewer said that the roll the cookies come in can be also used to store the cookies. It is made of very thick cardboard but might not last long if your child chews on it.
