Seems to me Dell has been awfully Bargainmoose friendly these days. Good on ya, Dell! Anywho, if you are still using Windows XP or, God forbid, Windows Vista, you really should upgrade. What should you upgrade to? Well, frankly, Linux but realistically you'll probably want a Windows 7 machine.
So Dell is letting anyone who is running Windows XP or Windows Vista to get a Windows 7 machine for $100 off.
- Dell Inspiron 15 - $429.99 to $499.99
- Dell Inspiron 15R - $499.99 to 529.99
And from there, the computers just get better and more expensive. They go into some high end XPS machines for those who are so inclined.
So far I can't see how they are validating that you have Windows XP or Vista so I'm assuming the whole upgrade thing is just a marketing ploy but I could be wrong. Regardless, it is certainly in Dell's interest to get its users off of older operating systems. The cost of continued support of XP and Vista must be staggering. I suspect that now with Windows 8 looming we'll see a lot of pushes to go to Windows 7.
