I can't express enough, how grateful I was for my swing when my son was an infant. They can be rather pricey - which is why you need to watch for good sales on them. This Graco Lovin' Hug Swing in Sequoia is currently on clearance sale at Walmart.ca for $80, which is quite a drop from the regular price of $129.97.
When I was pregnant, I didn't see a swing as a necessity. However, I received one as a gift shortly after having my son and I can't stress enough - if I had another kid, I would have swings. Swings everywhere, swings. Fussy babe, dishes need to be done? No problem. Swing. Content baby, want to pay your bills? Problems nowhere. Swing. Congested baby, can't sleep when laying down - no problem at all. Swing. Half the time I wished I could crawl in there myself and swing away.
Enough rambling though, this swing is a fab price right now. The Graco Lovin' Hug Swing has four different recline positions, as well as a tray on the front that flips up. You can also play music or nature sounds to help sooth your little one - and there is a 30 minute timer to conserve batteries. Unfortunately this one does not plug in, which may be safer anyway. It requires 3D batteries which are not included.
