Blackberry: Trade up Phone for Up to $600 towards Blackberry Passport

BlackBerry

Blackberry has introduced a trade up and save program towards their new Blackberry Passport. Trade up your current Blackberry or other phone towards the Blackberry Passport and receive up to $600 towards the Blackberry Passport.

The $600 actually breaks into two amounts. You will get up to $400 black for your phone depending on make, model, memory, and condition. On top of that, you will receive a top up of $200 from Blackberry towards the trade in. Together, that equals a maximum of $600 towards the Blackberry Passport.

I did a demo run with my iPhone 5 16GB. Oddly enough, they list almost every other cell phone carrier in Canada you could possibly have except Fido. Why is there no Fido? I chose Wind instead. They calculated a $120 trade up value with a $200 Blackberry top up for a total value of $320 towards a new Blackberry Passport.

Now, the one catch is, you must purchase your new Blackberry Passport from Blackberry Canada. There is a ton of fine print so I am going to try to summarize it for you in a few paragraphs but you will need to consult the website for all the details.

You need to buy your Blackberry Passport between December 1st and February 13, 2015. Then you send your phone in for the trade-in program along with relevant documentation from the Blackberry Passport itself. You will need a copy of the order confirmation AND a cut out of the IMEI number (serial number) on the Blackberry box.

Now, the phone you are trading in must be in working condition. If it is not in working condition you will not receive the trade in value and you do not get the phone back either. The phone needs to be unlocked (no-pass codes) and have the 'kind my phone' feature taken off the phone. As for payment:

Individual consumers will be paid via a Visa Prepaid Card from MetaBank and mailed to the address you provided on your quote 6 weeks after the Trade-in Center receives both eligible device(s) and a valid proof of purchase(s) and confirms your eligibility for the program.

I highly recommend reading the rest of the FAQ to familiarize yourself with the process.

This is a funky offer from Blackberry. I felt it worth mentioning because the Blackberry Passport costs $699 to $799 so this credit for old phones can really make a difference to your bottom line.

(Expiry: 17th December 2014)
