I have always wanted an external sound system for my TV, but am unwilling to pay a lot for it. Recently I found this Maxell SSB-1 Maxsound Soundbar Tabletop Speaker with Built-in Subwoofer and a sexy High Gloss Finish on sale for $49.99, originally $129.99 at Shop.ca.
The Maxwell Soundbar can go under flat screen TVs that are up to 40", or 55lbs. Evidently you can also use the soundbar for other electronics than your tv:

I price compared and though finding the system was difficult, the sale prices around were quite similar. Amazon doesn't have it in stock themselves, but a marketplace seller does. The system from them will cost you around $65 including shipping (excluding GST). Amazon.com also has the system at a similar price, but it will not ship to Canada. Overall, this was the best price (and with free shipping) I found.
There are many great reviews on the product, most citing that at this price point the system is a steal.
So I'm getting one! Can't wait till it comes in. :-)
