Future Shop has discounted the Microsoft All-In-One Wireless Media Keyboard (N9Z-00002) from $49.99 down to $29.99. As orders of $25 or more qualify for free shipping at Future Shop, this keyboard will ship for free.

This is the English version of the keyboard. I price compared this unit with a few online retailers. Here is what the competition is selling this wireless all-in-one keyboard for:

  • $49.99 @ Best Buy Canada
  • $32.99 + shipping @ NCIX.com
  • $49.95 @ Walmart Canada
  • $49.99 @ Staples Canada
  • $39.99 + $7.60 shipping @ Newegg.ca
  • $49.95 @ Microsoft Store Canada

I did find the French version of this keyboard on sale at Amazon.ca for $29.99. However, the English version was sold out at Amazon and only available for $45 plus shipping from secondary marketplace sellers.

If I ever get a desktop computer again, I will be buying this keyboard pronto. The Microsoft media keyboard is compatible with Windows 7 and Windows 8. With the all-in-one design, everything you need is built into the keyboard - there is no need for an external mouse.

The Microsoft keyboard has a full-size keyset and an integrated multi-touch trackpad. On the multi-touch pad, you can swipe, drag, zoom, and click. It is like the trackpad on a laptop, but this time it is built into a keyboard. Moreover, the keyboard is wireless for ultimate transportability. It also has customizable media hotkeys. At a simple key stroke, you can access the web, favourite music, photos, and more.

Are you worried about durability? Well, Microsoft says that the keyboard is strong enough to withstand a few bumps, drops, and spills. One reviewer said:

For the price it was an exceptional purchase & works great for tv projection. Perfect for everyday use, batteries last a lot longer than I thought they would and the spill proof design makes durability a bonus

This keyboard is brilliant and I would love to use it with a desktop computer hooked up to my television. The television would be the monitor and this keyboard would act as both my keyboard and mouse. There would be no need for an extra external mouse.

Now, if they keyboard is not exactly what you are looking for, check out the Logitech Wireless Touch Keyboard (K400) also on sale from $49.99 down to $29.99. It is also a good option and an excellent price as well.
