When people nowadays think about Bethesda, they think of Skyrim. Maybe Dishonored, Fallout: New Vegas and Oblivion. But what about some of the classics? Doom. Wolfenstein. Quake. Yeah, that's right, those are Bethesda games now!
ZeniMax (who owns Bethesda) picked up id Games a few years back: id Games, who created Doom, Wolfenstein and Quake. I'm almost more excited about those games than I am the new ones. That's probably just showing my age but whatever, they were amazing games back then and they still are!
I remember when I first got Doom, I didn't even know how to launch it. I had to call a friend and ask him how. I think I ended up having to launch it from a command prompt I either downloaded Doom on a 56K modem from download.com way before they were a C|Net property or someone gave it to me on a diskette. I can't remember for sure but I do remember how awesome I thought the game was. It defined the whole FPS genre and now you can get a bunch of great doom games, including the latest, Doom 3, for less than $5 each!
