Changes are Coming to the WestJet Rewards Program

A new upgrade is coming to the WestJet Rewards program. In the next few months, WestJet will add a new Platinum tier to the program, which comes with extra benefits.

The WestJet Rewards program is already a tiered system, where members who spend a certain amount qualify for different benefits. Your tier determines how quickly you earn WestJet dollars, which you can spend things like on flights, vacations and more.

There are already three tiers to the program: Teal, Silver and Gold. To qualify for the new Platinum tier, you'll need to spend at least $8,000 in a year – so it's made for people who fly with WestJet often. The new tier will either launch in late 2018 or early 2019.

Benefits for Platinum members will include the ability to check three bags for free, advance seat selection, 10 vouchers for airport lounge access, priority boarding privileges and more.

If you're not anywhere close to that qualifying spend, don't worry. WestJet is also adding a few bonuses to the other rewards tiers – like additional free checked bags and access to free upgrades.

I fly with WestJet at least a few times every year, and I only signed up for WestJet Rewards last week. If you're not a member, it's absolutely free to join and definitely worth your while – especially if you travel often. Just create an account and start earning WestJet dollars whenever you fly.
