How to Make Slime Without Borax

How to Make Slime Without Borax

It's not every day that the hottest toy out there is something you can make at home, so I'm taking full advantage of the latest slime craze! If you're wondering how to make slime, we found out one of the safest and easiest ways to do it.

Slime made headlines after recipes using laundry detergent (that contains borax) caused burns or irritation. Luckily, there's a non-borax method to make homemade slime that's perfectly safe for kids!

I'm not much of a crafter, but thankfully, this is something even I can do – and it'll definitely be a great way to keep my nephews busy this summer!

Here's what you need:

  • 870 ml (6 bottles) of clear PVA glue
  • 2 cups of water
  • 2 cups of salt
  • Glitter and food colouring (optional)
  • Microwave-safe plastic wrap
  • A glass bowl
  • Microwave

  1. Pour the glue into a glass bowl and mix in any food colouring or glitter
  2. Add the water and sprinkle salt onto the mixture
  3. Cover the bowl with microwave-safe plastic wrap and microwave on high for 2-4 minutes
  4. Let the mixture cool down and then remove any excess water
  5. Scoop the slime out and mould it into a ball

If the slime doesn't form right away, add a little more salt and microwave the mixture for another 2 minutes.

Let us know if this works for you or if you know any other DIY tricks for making safe, borax-free slime at home!
