Amazon has an awesome deal on a Cuisinart 5.5 quart stand mixer for only $299.99, was $429.99.
I price matched this baby and couldn't find it for less than $400 at other Canadian online retailers. I also want to compare the price of it to KitchenAid mixers, since when most people think of stand mixers, that is the brand that usually stands out. It doesn't seem that they have a 5.5 quart unit available right now, but the 5 quart is a comparable or more expensive price than this one. So, if you aren't set on KitchenAid, you might do better to get this unit. Also, compared to the similar sized KitchenAid unit, this one has a way more powerful 800-watt motor.
Cuisinart is definitely a good brand name in small kitchen appliances. Don't just take my word for it, read the over reviews with the majority of them giving the mixer a 5-star rating, like this one:
I love this machine and have had it for five years or so. It is high quality, heavy duty and well built. I compared it to the competing brands and the Cuisinart stood out. The kitchen store expert was right...much better machine than the popular brand! My only complaint is that I didn't buy it 20 years ago.
Shipping will be free on this machine. I think this would make an amazing gift idea for the chef in your family, especially with the neutral black or brushed chrome colour scheme.
