Paypal Canada is offering 5% cash back on purchases between the 24th of November (tomorrow) and the 2nd of December at participating merchants.
There is a bunch of fine print you need to know for this offer so sit back, relax, and read on.
First, you need to go through the above link to register for this deal. You can do that now. The actual cash back offer starts on Monday. This year, Paypal has done something tricky. You will earn cash back on your second purchase and any subsequent purchases thereafter. Your first purchase during that time period will not earn any cash back.
Here are some additional rules you need to know:
- Maximum $20 cash back per transaction
- Maximum $200 cash back per account for the promotional period
That means you cannot buy a $1,000 television and expect to get 5% back, rather you would only get a maximum of $20 back. Now, I know your deal loving brains are thinking of all the wonderful things you can buy with this promotion. Well here is a little fine print to guide your steps:
Pre-orders, gift certificate payments, gift card purchases, automatic and/or recurring payments that you have scheduled, and any payments made when you are not logged into your PayPal account are all excluded.
I know, I would be loading up on gift cards too if they were eligible.
As for retailers, you can get a good idea of qualifying stores here. You will find popular stores such as Lush, The Home Depot, Newegg.ca, Garage, Globo, Etsy, and more. I am pretty stoked that Etsy is on that list! Most Canadian and US retail stores where the sole method of payment is Paypal will qualify.
Now, while 5% cash back does not seem like a lot in the long run, it can really add up if you are doing a great deal of holiday shopping online. As this promotion runs during Black Friday and Cyber Monday, it is the perfect time to go through Paypal while making your purchases to save some extra money. The 5% cash back will be deposited into your account approximately one month after you have earned it. After it is deposited, you will receive an email informing you of the details.
Do remember, your first purchase starting on November 24th does not qualify so maybe buy something small the first time around.
