Sometimes, you can get tired of what's on Netflix. I spent yesterday evening mindlessly watching Friends for what's probably the 39th time, and I'm in the mood for something different. A friend recently told me about Kanopy, and today might be the perfect chance to give this FREE streaming service a try.
Kanopy partners with different public libraries and universities to let you watch ad-free films and TV series that you can watch the old-fashioned way (you know, on an actual television) or via your laptop, phone or tablet. Certain student and professors may qualify for an account, but I'm no longer in school, so I tried to sign up using my library card. The entire process only took me about a minute, so it's worth a go!
First, I searched their database for my local library, selected it and then entered my library card number and PIN. (Just note that not all branches qualify.) After that, I registered for a Kanopy account using my name and email address. I created a password, and now I can watch five FREE movies every single month of quarantine!
I was pretty excited to see Anita: Speaking Truth to Power on here, as well as Call Me By Your Name, Boyhood and Breakfast at Tiffany's. If you already have a Netflix subscription, I'd just check to make sure something you want to watch isn't available on there first. After all, you only get five movies a month with Kanopy, so you might as well choose things you can't watch for free already! So what are you streaming tonight?
