I price compared with other online retailers. Best Buy Canada sells the ATH-M50X for $199.99 and is completely sold out online and at any of my local stores. Amazon Canada sells the same headset for $199 (black) and $198.94 (white). NCIX.com has the same general price around $198.98 and even with their current 15% off coupon code; you will still pay $169.13. Unfortunately, they are already sold out! This was the only other place I could find them discounted.
This headset is amazing. It offers incredible sound and the ear cups are the most comfortable I have felt EVER. I am sort of known as the person to ask about headphones (slight obsession), and I have been recommending these for almost a year now. It is important to note that these are the Audio-Technica ATH-M50X - not the ATH-M50. The "X" on the end tells you that this is the updated 2015 version with a detachable cable and superior ear cups to the 2014 version (without the X). I have noticed that I can find the 2014 version for about $10 cheaper (before coupon) but that detachable cable and ear cup upgrades are worth the extra $10 in my opinion.
Shop.ca is also one of the few companies to carry the white version (Amazon Canada being the other). The white version was not carried by Best Buy. In May, I purchased a set of these for a friend's birthday. He has thanked me several times since and always tells me how superior they are in terms of comfort and sound to any of his other headsets including his Sennheisers. I also got to try them out when I visited him and I could not believe how comfortable they were - like little pillows of softness. One reviewer on Shop.ca said:
