I always thought a summer reading list was a silly idea. That's probably because the only people I knew who did summer reading lists were kids in school and, come on, what kind of kid reads on their summer vacation. Amirite?
Little did school-aged me know that adults have summer reading lists too. It's true. Why specifically summer? I dunno. Maybe it's a tendency to take more time off at summer than any other time. Maybe it's just a marketing ploy. Regardless of the reason, I think it's a pretty good idea. It's absolutely shocking to me how many people don't read anymore. I've actually hopped into an in-game chat of a game I play to offer free copies of my book and had people say "No, I don't read." I think it's sad when you get to a point that you're so firmly in the mindset of a non-reader that you would turn down free stuff.
