Having just become a mommy for the very first time, I have to admit that my worry level has definetely skyrocketed, particularly because of the risk of SIDS. Of course, I do everything I can to minimize this risk, from only having my little one sleep on her back to making sure that the pack 'n play she sleeps in is devoid of anything that could cause suffocation.

The first couple of nights after we came home from the hospital though, I was a complete mess in the worry department and I would wake up thinking that something was wrong. Nothing ever was but it's still not a fun experience. Over a month has passed since then but I do still worry about all sorts of "what if" questions and have recently been looking into getting a baby monitor for when we transition her into her crib full-time.

What I like about this Angelcare system is that on top of providing sound monitoring, it also comes with a movement monitor. As you can see from the image above, all you need to do is place two square pads under the mattress, to then be alerted if the baby stops breathing. Sure, you might get a couple of false alarms from the movement monitor, but better safe than sorry, right?

Another feature I found useful is that sound monitor can be muted as lights flash is the baby cries. This could come in handy if the other parent is sleeping in the same room, for instance, while you're catching up on any new book! Speaking of which, did you know that Kobo Books now offers first in series books for free? Be sure to check out Krista's post to find out more.

Shipping is also quick, although it might depend on your location. I just ordered a couple of crib sheets and a swaddle blanket last week and was surprised when the mail-woman rang my doorbell two business days later with my order. Since all orders over $25 qualify for free shipping, you won't pay a penny for shipping fees.
