RECALL: Possible Hepatitis A in Nature's Touch Organic Berry Cherry Blend

**UPDATE: CBC.ca is reporting that Costco will provide free Hepatitis A vaccinations to anyone who may have been exposed to the recalled berries. The retailer has been trying to contact all customers who purchased the frozen berry blend. Hep A vaccinations can be used to prevent illness if received within two weeks of exposure to the virus. You can get a full list of participating Costco vax clinics here.

The risk remains somewhat low for developing Hep A, but there have been reported cases—14 so far—so if you believe you or your family may have consumed this product, you should see your family doctor.**

This is definitely one of the scarier recalls I have seen - maybe because I do often buy these berries. The main reason though, is because this time this is a FDA Class I Recall - which is the most urgent type of recall. The Nature's Touch Organic Berry Cherry Blend product has been recalled for a Hepatitis A contamination.

The Nature's Touch product we mentioned has been distributed in New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec. Consumers should definitely not consume this product. It has been sold exclusive at Costco warehouse locations, so Costco shoppers - this one is for you.

The recalled Nature's Touch Organic Berry Cherry Blend came in a 1.5kg size and had best before dates up to and including 2018 MR 15 with the UPC 8 73668 00179 1. Be sure to check if you have the recalled products in your home, and if you do - get rid of them. Don't risk leaving them there for your family to potentially consume them. After all, food that is contaminated with Hepatitis A will not look or smell spoiled. Consumption of infected food may produce a self-limited disease that you don't want to get tangled with.

The symptoms of Hepatitis A are inflammation of the liver, fever, low appetite, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, muscle aches, and yellowing in the whites of your eyes (jaundice). If you suspect you have come into contact with the recalled food, definitely get in contact with your doctor.

There have been reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product. Do you know anyone who buys this product?

Costco know exactly who bought this product and when, down even to the time of day, why aren't they reaching out to the affected costumers?

I've purchased this item twice in the past. I don't have the packages anymore so I hope neither of them were affected. This is really scary!
