A recent study conducted by Statistics Canada, found that two-thirds of the Canadian population have a vitamin D deficiency. If you took just one a day (I take three), then this would last you an entire year!

My mother swears by Oil of Oregano for taking away her colds and improving her immune system. The downside: this stuff tastes horrible. Look, this stuff is notoriously expensive so you are really getting a fantastic deal here. Originally $39.99, the bottle is on sale for $29.99. You cannot get 90ml of this stuff for that cheap anywhere else.

Avigayil, I am a medical doctor from Montreal. I do not know your age or medical history. I am 47 and have osteoporosis. I am on 2000 IU of Vitamin D per day. That is for people with osteoporosis. Here are the Canadian guidelines: Vitamin D is essential to the treatment of osteoporosis because it promotes calcium absorption from the diet and is necessary for normal bone growth. Some research suggests it may also ward off immune diseases, infection and cancer. The new guidelines recommend daily supplements of 400 to 1000 IU for adults under age 50 without osteoporosis or conditions affecting vitamin D absorption. For adults over 50, supplements of between 800 and 2000 IU are recommended. “A daily supplement of 20 mcg (800 IU) should now be regarded as a minimum dose for adults with osteoporosis,” writes Hanley with co-authors. “Canadians can safely take daily vitamin D supplements up to the current definition of tolerable upper intake level (50 mcg [2000 IU]), but doses above that require medical supervision.” I would not recommend that everyone take 3000 IU per day. Vitamin D is stored in our fat cells and can easily become toxic. There are metabolic consequences when taking excessive amounts of Vitamin D, which can become serious. More is not always better. Unless a medical doctor has advised you to take that dose, I would ask that you discuss this with a qualified professional. For the rest of the Bargainmoosers, please do not pop Vitamin D (or any other vitamins) like candy. Thank you and Happy New Year.

Thank you for your comment Bonnie. I was certainly not making any recommendations on dosage - rather using an example to show how long this supplement would last! I am sure people will read the instructions on each bottle and follow the dosage of each supplement accordingly :)
