The touch screen LCD is a good size, I wish mine was a touchscreen but sadly I have to make do with plain old buttons all over the camera. I quite like the face detection feature - I use that on mine all the time. And as for the external storage, the SD cards - they're dead cheap and you can pick up extra SD cards for next to nothing.
