The Source Canada: save $45 on Norton Anti Virus Now $24.99

The Source is offering excellent savings on Norton Anti-Virus 2011. Regularly $69.99 it is now on sale for just $24.99, you save $45.

For an anti-virus system this is pretty cheap. Here is a rundown on Norton 2011:

The improved Norton AntiVirus Protection System features multi-layered protection technologies that work together to proactively block attacks and detect and remove threats before they can harm your PC. Norton AntiVirus 2011 offers a fast install time, fast boot time and low memory requirements. The software uses intelligence-driven technology for faster, fewer, shorter scans. It checks Norton’s extensive online intelligence system in real-time to identify which files can be trusted and which cannot, then scans only files at risk. So you can spend more time using your PC and less time waiting for scans.

I am a bit biased – I hate Norton Anti-Virus with a passion. Back when I use to work on a PC (over 7 years ago) Norton was evil. I couldn’t un-install it. If The virus scanner was running I couldn’t run anything else or it would crash my computer – it was such a power hog. I hope it has improved over the years!

Expires 31st, August 2011.

I’m a computer technician who does a lot of virus removal and I have been recommending Norton for about 2 years now. Norton used to be the system hog, but they have learned their lesson. It runs silent, is not invasive, and you don’t even notice it scanning anymore.

I want to be clear in saying I don’t work for Norton. I hated them many years ago myself but the program has changed significantly. Try a 30 day trial. You have nothing to lose. Especially if you are going to criticize a program you haven’t used in 7 years on a public forum where people take your information in consideration when purchasing.

I’d support Avigayil’s comments. We bought a new computer a few months ago and monitored the Norton that was installed. It was still a system hog and invasive, took forever removing all the crap associated with it.
Stuck with our IT guys suggestion (as we have w/ 2 other new computers) and went with Vipre.
