Pre-Order 2+ Games To Save 20% @ Best Buy or Amazon Canada

Posted by on June 21, 2015 at 5:00 PM

Pre Order 2+ Games To Save 20% @ Best Buy or Amazon Canada

Discounts on newly released games are somewhat rare but Moosers, here’s your chance to save 20%! Until Thursday, head over to either Best Buy or Amazon to save 20% on the pre-order of two or more video games as part of E3’s special pre-order deal. This offer is only available online.

Best Buy

If you decide to pre-order games at Best Buy, keep in mind that you need to be a Reward Zone member in order to be able to take advantage of this offer. On the bright side, I’m sure many of you already are subscribed, but if you’re not, just click on the second link above to become a member for free. It only takes a couple of seconds of filling out the necessary information (one minute tops).

Once you have either registered or entered your Reward Zone membership information, then a unique promotional code will be e-mail to you. You can then use it at checkout to get your 20% discount on the pre-order of two or more games.

Amazon

If you prefer to shop at Amazon, then you need to enter the Amazon coupon code SAVE20E3 at checkout in order to get your discount once you have added to pre-order games to your cart. The following exclusions apply: Skylanders, Disney Infinity, LEGO Dimensions; Collector’s Editions, Limited Editions, Gold Editions, Limited Collector’s Editions; consoles and accessories.

Pre-order games

I tend to only buy video games once they have been officially released but a couple of days ago, I pre-ordered Batman: Arkham Knight as a Father’s Day gift for my hubby. The limited edition is currently sold out and on backorder anyways because of a production issue but you can pre-order the game for either PS4 or Xbox One for $69.99.

Very often, game publishers throw in bonuses for those who pre-order games and in fact, the Batman one currently even comes with the Waynetech booster pack, which includes Harley Quinn as a fully playable character. This game comes out June 23rd, so if you have been wanting to play it, I would definitely get it now for the bonus and the 2o% discount if you get another game. Here are other top choices that you could pre-order now:

The links here all point towards Best Buy but you can get all of these at Amazon if you prefer to shop there by searching for the appropriate title at the top of any Amazon page.

Your games are sure to qualify for free shipping as well as Best Buy automatically ships all orders over $20 for free and Amazon’s free shipping minimum is $25.

Microsoft Canada: Call of Duty Ghosts (Xbox One) Was $50 | Now $12 & Free Shipping *HOT*

Posted by on June 13, 2015 at 4:12 PM

Microsoft Canada: Call of Duty Ghosts (Xbox One) Was $50 | Now $12 & Free Shipping *HOT*

Microsoft Canada really has a sporting prince in Call of Duty: Ghosts for the Xbox One. As the Xbox one is still a relatively new console, games for this console are popular acquisitions when on sale. Originally $49.99, the game has been discounted to $11.99 with free shipping.

Slip this under the door of your teenage son or daughter to be ‘parent of the year’ or give it to your husband for Father’s Day if he is a gamer. Either way, this game is an affordable small gift that says ‘I love you’ and ‘have a good time’ all at once.

We have seen stellar deals on this game for other consoles before: the PS3 and Xbox 360 for sure. However, this is the first time I have seen this game that low for the Xbox One. Here are the prices at a few other online retailers:

  • $29.99 @ Best Buy Canada
  • $29.97 @ Staples Canada (OOS)
  • $59.99 @ Dell Canada
  • $59.95 @ Chapters Indigo Canada
  • $19.99 + shipping @ EB Games
  • $28.88 @ Walmart Canada

As you can see, there is a WIDE range of prices for this game and Microsoft Canada beats them all. I also price compared at Amazon Canada, but Amazon does not have the game in stock – you would need to buy from a secondary marketplace seller and pay for shipping.

Just yesterday, a reviewer was thrilled at the price of this game, which he just purchased. He also said that he received the game very quickly: only three days after his purchase. Evidently, Microsoft Canada also has very quick shipping.

Microsoft does not have any reviews of the actual game itself, thus I borrowed one from best Buy Canada:

This is the most amazing version from Call of Duty. I liked all the missions their graphic are awesome. I liked the story. The multiplier is very good.

In fact, the vast majority of reviews for this game are quite positive. Thus, it really boggles my mind why a game like this would be so steeply discounted. I am not going to complain though!

This is a really hot deal and I expect the game to sell out quickly once the online community sees this deal. Pick a copy up for yourself, a friend, or a family member.

Costco Canada: Xbox LIVE 12mth Gold Membership Was $49 | Now $39

Posted by on June 11, 2015 at 2:30 PM

Costco Canada: Xbox LIVE 12mth Gold Membership Was $49 | Now $39

Xbox Live memberships are a hot commodity in the gaming world. Costco Canada has reduced the Xbox Live 12-month gold membership from $48.99 down to $38.99. This is an electronic code that will be emailed to you: no shipping necessary.

The best part of this deal is the seller: this is not some Xbox live code from a unknown seller or a sketchy website you are not entirely sure you can trust. Costco Canada is a well-known business that has been around for years. They stand behind their products so you can be sure these codes will work. I did a little price comparing against other online retailers:

  • $44.99 @ Amazon Canada
  • $44.99 @ Dell Canada
  • $59.99 @ Best Buy Canada
  • $59.99 @ Microsoft Canada
  • $59.95 @ Chapters Indigo Canada
  • $56.83 @ Walmart Canada

You are buying an electronic code that will be emailed to you by Codes2Go within 2 days of your purchase. You need to make sure that the email address you have on file is correct as that is the email they will use to send your Xbox Live membership code.

There are multiple benefits to Xbox Live memberships. As a member, you will receive discounted prices on new and old games. These discounts are exclusive to gold members. Membership easily pays for itself with the free games you receive per month. This month’s free games are:

Xbox One:

  • Massive Chalice
  • Pool Nation FX

Xbox 360:

  • Just Cause 2 (June 1-15)
  • Thief (June 16-30)

Usually, each console receives two free games per month. Sometimes you will receive more. The games change each month and you can score some pretty big titles once in a while. Many people love these deals, but you will always find the odd guy out there who isn’t happy unless he gets the newest and the best games free. I just ignore those people for the most part: You pay $40 for membership and you want free games worth $60 each month? I don’t think so!

Of course, the discounts on game prices are well worth the price of gold membership even without the free games. You receive 50 to 75% off the retail price of many games. One of my favourite gold deals this week is 70% off NBA Live 15. Many of the sports games are on discount this week.

12 Month Xbox Live Gold Subscription for $38! (HOT)

12 Month Xbox Live Gold Subscription for $38! (HOT)

If you or anyone in your family plays Xbox, then it’s pretty likely that you also have an Xbox Live subscription. Xbox Live subscriptions are needed to make use of the online services, not to mention give you access to special deals for Xbox subscribers, such as free games and more. You can buy the subscription from month to month, but it works out the best value when you buy a 12 month subscription. And over at CD Keys, the incredibly popular place to buy such subscriptions, you can get the 12 month Xbox Live subscription for only ~CA38 just now.

The above CD key will get you 12 months subscription to the services for use on Xbox One or on the older Xbox 360.

Extra 5% Coupon

When you click the above link, you will see a price of $32.99US (down from $60.28). To get an extra 5% discount on that price, go to the CD Keys Facebook page here, LIKE them, enter an email address and you’ll get a unique coupon code. Beware – the coupon code only lasts for 8 minutes, so you need to order right away.

Discounted Cart

Here’s what my cart shows with the discount amount:

12 Month Xbox Live Gold Subscription for $38! (HOT)

This US$31.34 converts to around $38 in Canadian dollars. Great deal!

Digital CD Key

When you buy your item from the CD Keys website above, they instantaneously give you a CD Key with which to activate your 12 month subscription. You can type it in to the field on your Xbox, and it will show you your 12 months.

Price Comparison

If you’re purchasing a 12 month Xbox Live Gold subscription from any of the main retailers in Canada, you’re liable to pay a lot more. For example, it’s $60 from Xbox themselves, $49 from Costco.ca, $60 @ Microsoft, $60 @ Best Buy, $60 @ Amazon. As you can see, the deal from CD Keys is really excellent.

And for those of you who haven’t heard of CD Keys, they’re one of the most famous sites for buying this type of thing, and have a very good reputation. From what I hear, they buy digital keys like this in the cheaper markets, and then sell them worldwide, enabling them to do such good deal prices.

$30 Off Mohu Leaf 50 HDTV Antenna + Hauppauge Digital TV Tuner For Xbox One BUNDLE – Now Just $100 @ Microsoft Store

Posted by on May 23, 2015 at 10:05 PM

$30 Off Mohu Leaf 50 HDTV Antenna + Hauppauge Digital TV Tuner For Xbox One BUNDLE Now Just $100 @ Microsoft Store

This morning, Anna blogged about a deal on the Dell Inspiron 15 Signature Edition laptop at the Microsoft Store, which you can get for just $449 and potentially even $404, but looking around, I also spotted another great deal. This one’s a bundle: you can currently save $30 if you get both the Mohu Leaf 50 HDTV antenna and the Hauppauge digital TV turner for Xbox One as a bundle. Instead of a usual combined price of $129.99, you can get both of these products together for just $99.98. Shipping is free as always.

So what’s all the fuss about these two products? Basically, after plugging the TV tuner into an Xbox One, you will be able to access broadcast networks in your area free of charge. We’ve seen many similar services pop up recently and get popular but the great part about this one is that you only pay for it once as there are no subscription fees.

Now I can’t decide if these products are a ploy to get more users to buy the Xbox One or if it truly is just a convenience factor. Having to switch inputs between gaming, TV and whatever else is annoying so these products eliminate that aspect. That’s annoyance I can easily overlook but my monthly cable bill is one that I most certainly would prefer to eliminate, so if I had an Xbox One, I would definitely be tempted to try this TV system.

On their own, the TV tuner costs $59.99 and the antenna goes for $69.99, but what’s interesting is that I actually found a white version of this antenna priced at $110.99 at Amazon! On Hauppauge‘s official site, the TV tuner is $79 USD, so as you can see, even without the current promotion, these two products are significantly cheaper at the Microsoft Store and the free shipping offer definitely further sweetens the deal.

Keep in mind that it would seem that both of these products are essential in making your Xbox One work as a TV. What’s cooler though is that you will be able to pause live TV up to 30 minutes, browse channels with the help of the Kinect voice controls and even watch TV while playing a game with a split screen.

Dell Canada: XBOX Live 12-Month Gold Membership Was $60 | Now $44.99 (EXPIRED)

Posted by on April 26, 2015 at 11:35 AM

Dell Canada: XBOX Live 12 Month Gold Membership Was $60 | Now $44.99 (EXPIRED)

Dell Canada has discounted the XBOX Live 12-Month Gold Membership from $59.99 down to $44.99 with free shipping.

I price compared this membership with the prices at other online retailers. Here is what the competition is selling the Xbox Live 12 month membership for:

  • $48.99 @ Costco Canada
  • $56.83 @ Amazon Canada
  • $59.99 @ Best Buy Canada
  • $59.99 @ Microsoft Canada
  • $59.95 @ Chapters Indigo Canada
  • $56.83 @ Walmart Canada

Dell Canada’s price is the best out of all the competition. Costco does come close, but is still a few dollars more. If you are a gamer on a budget (is that an oxymoron?) then this is an excellent choice to get in on the Gold benefits at Xbox Canada. As I have mentioned before, having an Xbox gold membership gives you access to exclusive deals that are not available to the ‘public’. You can just check out the “Deals with Gold” section in Xbox Canada to see what games you can score.

40% off Call of Duty: Ghosts Digital Hardened Edition is one of the exclusive deals you can purchase with your Gold membership. The retail price for the game is $99.99, but it comes down to $59.99 with your Gold membership. You can easily see how a Gold membership can quickly pay for itself in savings on other games – especially the big titles and popular sequels.

the Xbox Gold membership allows you to play games with friends on the multiplayer network. You also receive free games each month as an Xbox Gold member. On top of that, you can save up to 75% off games in the Xbox Store. Previously, I have seen 50% offers on popular games such as Duck Dynasty and more.

I was recently reading about gaming consoles and the shift to monthly / yearly paid memberships. While many players would like to see that end, it appears to be here for good since PlayStation recently switched to a membership base as well with the PS4. I wonder if the major PC gaming platform will also switch to membership in the future. I think that would be terrible. Gaming console companies are making it nearly impossible to get away without a membership these days, so deals like this help save your pocket book an extra few dollars.

The P90X programs is one of the toughest ones you can do and it’s one that is sure to whip you into shape just in time for summer… assuming you do it diligently every day and eat right of course!

Toys R Us: Xbox One Wireless Controller $39.95 & $10 Off Coupon

Posted by on March 12, 2015 at 5:25 PM

Toys R Us: Xbox One Wireless Controller $39.95 & $10 Off Coupon

We have found the best deal on an Xbox One controller that you can possibly get right now. The Xbox One – Wireless Controller has dropped from $59.95 down to $39.95 at Toys R Us. Merely add a filler item, and you can score the controller for $29.95 (+ filler item cost) after the coupon code CineplexHoliday.

The name of the game is finding the cheapest filler item you can possibly add on to your cart. That way, you can get a stellar deal on the Xbox One controller. I found several options for filler items:

In Store Pickup:

Ship to Home:

Now, you can get your filler item shipped to store while the Xbox Wireless Controller ships to your home. You could then go pick up the filler item, or not! I played around the Crayola Crayons to fill out my cart. See how it works below:

Toys R Us: Xbox One Wireless Controller $39.95 & $10 Off Coupon

I will have the Xbox One controller shipped to my home. The Crayola crayons will ship to a store nowhere near me and together these two items are just above $40, so the $10 off $40 coupon applies. You can see it in my cart. In addition, as the order is over $25, it ships for free. My estimated total for both the crayons and the controller is $30.94 before tax. You will not find that price anywhere else! Here are the competition’s prices right now:

  • $39.99 @ Microsoft Store Canada
  • $39.99 @ Amazon Canada
  • $46.99 + $7.60 Shipping @ Newegg Canada
  • $59.83 @ Walmart Canada
  • $59.99 @ Best Buy Canada
  • $59.99 @ Future Shop Canada

As you can see, this controller is on sale at both Microsoft and Amazon but you are undercutting their prices by nearly $10 when you add on a small filler item.

For filler items, I included two that you can get shipped to local store (cheapest) and I included two that can be shipped to your home, in case neither of the ‘in store’ items are available at your local store. I hope this helps you score this fantastic deal on a brand new Xbox Wireless Controller. Even if you need to spend $3 on a filler item, you are still saving a good chunk of money off the competitor’s prices.

Downloadable Content for Titanfall FREE @ Xbox Store ($25 Value)

Downloadable Content for Titanfall FREE @ Xbox Store ($25 Value)

I know zip about Titanfall, but the internet is swarming with happy gamers because Microsoft has discounted a load of Titanfall DLC for the Xbox One and the Xbox 360.

Here is how the deal goes. The Titanfall Season Pass was $24.99 and is now on sale for $0.00. The season pass includes all three of the DLC packs for a total of nine maps.

I have linked directly to the Canadian store for these freebies. However, if you have regional issues (as in it shows en-CA in the website address), then your region may be defaulting to the USA. Click here to reset your region to Canada, as you must get these through the Canadian store.

Now, what if you already have one or two of these down loadable content packs? Well, you can get each pack – for free – separately. Separately, each of the three packs retailed for $9.99, so you are still saving a good chunk of money.

Here are the direct links for the individual Xbox One DLC packs:

Here are the direct links for the individual Xbox 360 DLC packs:

Again, if you are redirected the the US website (even though I have linked to the Canadian side), then use the link above to change your default region. Xbox requires a credit card (that is why you need the Canadian region) but that card will not be charged for this dowloadable content.

Each pack comes with new maps, bug fixes, and new features. Here are the maps you will receive with each pack:

  • Expedition: War Games, Swampland, and Runoff
  • Frontier’s Edge: Dig Site, Export, and Haven
  • IMG Rising: Backwater, Zone 18, and Sandtrap

All of these maps come with the season pass or you can purchase the DLC packs individually through the links above. The season pass is most convenient if you do not already own one or more of these DLCs.

For players of Titanfall, this is approximately a $25 freebie! I do not play Titanfall myself, so I would love to hear from anyone who does and picks up this freebie.

GamesDeal: XBOX Live 12-Month Gold Membership only $44

Posted by on February 22, 2015 at 6:17 PM

GamesDeal: XBOX Live 12 Month Gold Membership only $44

GamesDeal is selling the XBOX Live 12-Month Gold Membership for just $43.44 plus a 4% ($1.71) payment fee to equal $45.15. Use coupon code allkeyshop to take 2% off your purchase, which brings the membership down to just $44.28 (Canadian).

I price compared the 12-month XBox LIVE Gold membership with other retailers:

  • $48.99 @ Costco Canada
  • $59.99 @ Future Shop Canada
  • $56.83 @ Amazon Canada
  • $59.99 @ Microsoft Store Canada
  • $59.96 @ Walmart Canada (OOS)
  • $59.99 @ Dell Canada
  • $59.95 @ Chapters Indigo Canada

I know this membership is available at MANY retailers, so this is certainly not a thorough price comparison but i figured comparing to seven of the most popular stores would be pretty good coverage. Costco Canada comes close, but Games Deal still has the better offer by a couple dollars.

I am aware that US Microsoft Store has the US region gold memberships on sale for $39.99 US right now, but our exchange rate makes that deal not as good. $39.99 US = $50 CA with today’s exchange rate and not including exchange fees that your credit card will add on. That makes that deal cold as it is priced even higher than Costco’s price.

Now, I told you how to get this price by applying the coupon code above. Here is what the deal looks like on the website and in your cart:

GamesDeal: XBOX Live 12 Month Gold Membership only $44

This is a very exciting deal as the Xbox Live memberships do not go on sale that much (except at Costco). With nearly $16 off the membership, you are saving around 26% on your membership.

I am not too familiar with the Xbox system, but I do know having the gold membership will help you score other deals as well. I recently was looking at a sale on the Xbox store where a bunch of the deals were open to Gold members only. If you did not have the gold membership, then you would have to pay full price for the game. For example, you can save 50% on Duck Dynasty with your gold membership.

The 12-month gold membership you purchase is region free (worldwide). It can be redeemed on a Canadian system without having to change your region to redeem. In addition, there are no shipping costs, as you will be emailed the code. I do not expect to see this price from any retail store soon, so pick this baby up as soon as possible. If you miss out, Costco is a good alternative.

Microsoft Store: Bonus $10 Xbox Gift Card with Select Game Pre-Orders

Posted by on January 22, 2015 at 8:30 PM

Microsoft Store: Bonus $10 Xbox Gift Card with Select Game Pre Orders

Enjoy a bonus $10 Xbox Gift Card with the pre-order of select Xbox games at the Microsoft Store.

If you are planning to pre-order any games, you might as well get a nice little bonus with them since you will be paying full price for the game. Eligible titles for the bonus $10 gift card start at $49.99 and go up to $259.99.

For $49.99, you can pre-purchase Rugby 2015 for Xbox One. The title will not be released until the 24th of February, so you have approximately one month to wait. Be the pro-player you never had the figure for when you grab this game full of breathtaking kicks, tackles, and passes. The bonus $10 Xbox gift card does not hurt either.

Perhaps the most anticipated title of the New Year, Halo 5: Guardians for Xbox One is available for pre-order. Flop down $69.99 and get a bonus $10 Xbox Gift Card digital code with your purchase. Unfortunately, you will have to wait a while on this one; it is not scheduled for release until the end of December! If you follow the Halo franchise, then you know just how amazing this video game title has been in the past. The new version brings an all-new Arena multiplayer mode and new campaigns to keep you awake for days on end.

I think I need to play my current Final Fantasy game before my hubby will let me purchase another one. However, if you already came out of your locked bedroom covered in Cheetos dust, then pre-order Final Fantasy Type-0 HD at Microsoft. The game retails for $69.99 and will not be released until the end of 2015.

For pre-orders, you are required to give your credit card information and authorization but you will not be charged until the game is shipped. However, your bank may charge you a small reversible card-checking fee – but that should disappear within a few days. This way, your pre-order is a win-win situation as you can always cancel the order if you find it cheaper elsewhere.

There is a limit of one $10 gift card per qualifying Xbox One or Xbox 360 game title purchased for up to three game titles per person. Thus, this promotion can give you up to $30 in Xbox gift cards with your pre-orders. Shipping is free on all orders with Microsoft Canada.

Future Shop: Turtle Beach Gaming Headset just $29.99 *HOT*

Future Shop: Turtle Beach Gaming Headset just $29.99 *HOT*

Future Shop is totally blowing my mind with their price on the Turtle Beach Ear Force DXL1 Dolby Surround Sound Gaming Headset for Boxing Week. Ignore the ‘savings’ as it is horribly inaccurate and check out my price comparison below. Future Shop has this Turtle Beach headset that retails for $100+ on sale for $29.99.

They have the same deal at Best Buy but the expiry dates are different. You can get this deal at Future Shop until the end of the year while Best Buy’s deal ends tonight.

I price compared this unit because the ‘saved’ price at Future Shop is way out to lunch. Here is what the competitors are actually selling this headset for:

  • $99.95 @ The Source Canada (backordered)
  • $127.77 @ Amazon Canada
  • $136.79 @ Staples Canada

Oh yes, this Turtle Beach gaming headset is quite the deal. While it is designed for the Xbox 360, it IS compatible with the Xbox One, a PC/MAC, and even a PS3/PS4 with a small adapter cable – consult Turtle Beach’s website for more details. Since most people will purchase this to use either with their Xbox or with PC, I have included the PC hookup instructions to be your guide:

Future Shop: Turtle Beach Gaming Headset just $29.99 *HOT*

There are plenty of image tutorials on how to connect this headset to other gaming consoles as well.

One of the primary selling features of this headset is the DSS2 surround sound processor, which retails for $79.99 alone on Amazon.ca. Essentially, the headset and the surround sound processor are cheaper than buying the processor alone.

The headset also features:

  • 20 Hz – 20 kHz frequency response
  • In-line amplifier
  • 50mm speakers
  • separate volume controls
  • Positionable microphone

Essentially, you will enjoy the immersive experience of 360-degree surround sound blasting through these speakers while being able to differentiate the sounds from chat windows (etc) and keeping them at a lower level.

Amazon.com has many reviews for the headset with most of them being positive. One reviewer concluded his lengthy review saying:

Overall, this headset is amazing. After having high-end headsets, I really think they don’t really compare to this. I paid $70 for this here on Amazon. You really can’t beat the price for this wired headset. If you’re looking for a nice, comfortable headset with great sound; look no further.

Well, if he paid $70 USD for the headset and thought it was an unbeatable price, you really should snap it up for only $30 CA with free shipping.

Now this is one spicy deal! Today at NCIX you can order NHL 15 for the Xbox One system for just $39.99! You’ll also get free shipping with your order! This is the most popular hockey franchise available, and it’s also the latest addition to the well known EA Sports series. This normally sells for $69.99, so you’re getting one heck of a deal! When you think of hockey video games, you think of EA Sports’ NHL series. This franchise has been around since 1991, when it was originally released on PC computers (for those who remember using the MS-Dos command line to boot up games, I salute you), and on the Sega Genesis video game console. They started to appear on the Super Nintendo when NHLPA Hockey 93 was released, and they eventually made their way on to the next generation of video game consoles several years later (the Sony Playstation, Sega Saturn, and Nintendo 64). Today, we’re still playing the NHL games on our PS4 and Xbox One video game systems!

If a family member, friend, or significant other has been hyped about this next-gen instalment of the NHL series, then they will certainly be ecstatic to receive NHL 15 for the Xbox One during the holidays! Get this while you can, though, because stock is limited, and it won’t be around for very long!

If you wanted to buy this game from Best Buy today, it would cost you $62.99 (it’s on sale today). Listed below is a snippet of a review of NHL 15 for the Xbox One from a satisfied Best Buy customer below:

NHL 15 was rebuilt on a new engine for Xbox One, bringing a new visual feast for our eyes. Realistic jersey movement and crowds really draw you into the game.

Happy hunting, my fellow Bargainmoosers!
