Pre-Order 2+ Games To Save 20% @ Best Buy or Amazon Canada

Pre Order 2+ Games To Save 20% @ Best Buy or Amazon Canada

Discounts on newly released games are somewhat rare but Moosers, here’s your chance to save 20%! Until Thursday, head over to either Best Buy or Amazon to save 20% on the pre-order of two or more video games as part of E3’s special pre-order deal. This offer is only available online.

Best Buy

If you decide to pre-order games at Best Buy, keep in mind that you need to be a Reward Zone member in order to be able to take advantage of this offer. On the bright side, I’m sure many of you already are subscribed, but if you’re not, just click on the second link above to become a member for free. It only takes a couple of seconds of filling out the necessary information (one minute tops).

Once you have either registered or entered your Reward Zone membership information, then a unique promotional code will be e-mail to you. You can then use it at checkout to get your 20% discount on the pre-order of two or more games.

Amazon

If you prefer to shop at Amazon, then you need to enter the Amazon coupon code SAVE20E3 at checkout in order to get your discount once you have added to pre-order games to your cart. The following exclusions apply: Skylanders, Disney Infinity, LEGO Dimensions; Collector’s Editions, Limited Editions, Gold Editions, Limited Collector’s Editions; consoles and accessories.

Pre-order games

I tend to only buy video games once they have been officially released but a couple of days ago, I pre-ordered Batman: Arkham Knight as a Father’s Day gift for my hubby. The limited edition is currently sold out and on backorder anyways because of a production issue but you can pre-order the game for either PS4 or Xbox One for $69.99.

Very often, game publishers throw in bonuses for those who pre-order games and in fact, the Batman one currently even comes with the Waynetech booster pack, which includes Harley Quinn as a fully playable character. This game comes out June 23rd, so if you have been wanting to play it, I would definitely get it now for the bonus and the 2o% discount if you get another game. Here are other top choices that you could pre-order now:

The links here all point towards Best Buy but you can get all of these at Amazon if you prefer to shop there by searching for the appropriate title at the top of any Amazon page.

Your games are sure to qualify for free shipping as well as Best Buy automatically ships all orders over $20 for free and Amazon’s free shipping minimum is $25.

Walmart Canada: Xbox One Halo Masterchief Collection & Bonus Game Was $419 | Now $349

Posted by on June 18, 2015 at 4:30 PM

Walmart Canada: Xbox One Halo Masterchief Collection & Bonus Game Was $419 | Now $349

Walmart Canada has bundled together the Xbox One Halo Masterchief Collection with three different games! Each bundle would cost you $418.98, but they are discounted to $349.01 with free shipping!

There are three bundles to choose from in this Father’s Day promotion. These deals are pretty hot as you receive the Xbox One Halo: Master Chief Collection edition, which includes The Master Chief’s entire story with Halo Combat Evolved: Anniversary, newly remastered Halo 2: Anniversary, Halo 3, and Halo 4. Then you get a free game (three different choices).

I price compared with Amazon Canada, which always tends to be Walmart’s biggest competitor. To buy the console and each game at Amazon Canada would cost:

  • Xbox One Halo Masterchief & Mortal Kombat X | $349 + $65.81 = $414.81
  • Xbox One Halo Masterchief &  The Witcher 3 | $349 + $67.78 = $416.78
  • Xbox One Halo Masterchief & Batman Arkham Night | $349 + $69 = $418

As the Xbox One Halo: Masterchief edition retails for $349 alone at either Amazon Canada or Walmart Canada, you are essentially receiving the additional game for free.

The only thing left to decide is what game you are going to pick from the collection. If you are buying an Xbox One, then you most likely do not own any of these games for that console yet either. I am torn between Mortal Kombat X and Batman Arkham Night. My geek side is all “let’s go Batman” but I remember playing Mortal Kombat type games in the arcade when I was younger – they were so much fun. I think I would prefer Mortal Kombat X myself.

I checked out other websites but could not find a deal like this anywhere else. For your money, this is about the cheapest way to pick up the new Xbox One console and a few games at the same time. I think I have seen slightly cheaper refurbished consoles, but not by much. This bundle has the added bonus of including the hard-copy edition of the game you choose (Batman, Witcher, or Mortal Combat) instead of just a redemption code.

Microsoft Canada: Call of Duty Ghosts (Xbox One) Was $50 | Now $12 & Free Shipping *HOT*

Posted by on June 13, 2015 at 4:12 PM

Microsoft Canada: Call of Duty Ghosts (Xbox One) Was $50 | Now $12 & Free Shipping *HOT*

Microsoft Canada really has a sporting prince in Call of Duty: Ghosts for the Xbox One. As the Xbox one is still a relatively new console, games for this console are popular acquisitions when on sale. Originally $49.99, the game has been discounted to $11.99 with free shipping.

Slip this under the door of your teenage son or daughter to be ‘parent of the year’ or give it to your husband for Father’s Day if he is a gamer. Either way, this game is an affordable small gift that says ‘I love you’ and ‘have a good time’ all at once.

We have seen stellar deals on this game for other consoles before: the PS3 and Xbox 360 for sure. However, this is the first time I have seen this game that low for the Xbox One. Here are the prices at a few other online retailers:

  • $29.99 @ Best Buy Canada
  • $29.97 @ Staples Canada (OOS)
  • $59.99 @ Dell Canada
  • $59.95 @ Chapters Indigo Canada
  • $19.99 + shipping @ EB Games
  • $28.88 @ Walmart Canada

As you can see, there is a WIDE range of prices for this game and Microsoft Canada beats them all. I also price compared at Amazon Canada, but Amazon does not have the game in stock – you would need to buy from a secondary marketplace seller and pay for shipping.

Just yesterday, a reviewer was thrilled at the price of this game, which he just purchased. He also said that he received the game very quickly: only three days after his purchase. Evidently, Microsoft Canada also has very quick shipping.

Microsoft does not have any reviews of the actual game itself, thus I borrowed one from best Buy Canada:

This is the most amazing version from Call of Duty. I liked all the missions their graphic are awesome. I liked the story. The multiplier is very good.

In fact, the vast majority of reviews for this game are quite positive. Thus, it really boggles my mind why a game like this would be so steeply discounted. I am not going to complain though!

This is a really hot deal and I expect the game to sell out quickly once the online community sees this deal. Pick a copy up for yourself, a friend, or a family member.

Xbox One Just Dance 2015 – Only $15 @ Amazon.ca

Posted by on April 13, 2015 at 1:30 PM

Xbox One Just Dance 2015 Only $15 @ Amazon.ca

Well, Amazon Canada did it. They saw another company give a good deal on Just Dance 2015 for the Xbox One and they decided to blow the deal out of the water in their own special way. Just Dance 2015 for the Xbox One is now on sale from $49.99 down to $14.99. However, you will only receive free shipping on orders of $25 or more.

Seriously, this blows all the previous deals we have found out of the water by $10. Oddly enough, only the Xbox One version is discounted whereas other versions cost over double this price. I also price compared the Xbox One version against other retailers to see if this is a trend. Here is what I found:

  • $24.99 @ Microsoft Canada
  • $49.99 @ Shop.ca
  • $49.99 @ Staples Canada
  • $49.99 @ Toys R Us Canada
  • $49.99 @ Best Buy Canada
  • $49.99 @ The Source Canada

Pretty much, everyone still has the game for full price except for Microsoft. I have no idea why, but Amazon just came along and said, “we can go lower” – totally blowing Microsoft’s deal out of the water. Hey, it happens!

Since it has happened, you need to buy this. If you purchased the Microsoft version, then I suggest trying to get a price adjustment or just returning your copy for a refund and purchasing this one instead.

While I like the idea of this game, I have never been fond of games that require me to spend an extra $100 or so on hardware just to play them. I assumed I would need to use the Kinect, but there is no additional hardware required to play Just Dance 2015. Rather, the game track movements and scores using your smart phone. You just need to download the Just Dance 2015 motion controller app. This app will work on iPhones with iOS 6+ and on Android 4+ phones as well.

With this version, online multi-player is back. Dance with the friends you made on your last vacation or relatives living overseas. Dancing is a great way to strengthen bonds and promote community! Kids especially love dancing and they can show off their moves in Just Dance 2015. I think it would be fun for kids and their cousins, who may live in a different part of Canada, to be able to dance together over this game. It sounds cool!

Receive free shipping on orders of $25 or more.

Microsoft Canada: Xbox One Just Dance 2015 Was $45 | Now $25 & Free Shipping

Posted by on April 9, 2015 at 8:19 PM

Microsoft Canada: Xbox One Just Dance 2015 Was $45 | Now $25 & Free Shipping

We haven’t seen a deal like this on Just Dance 2015 since the short term deal we blogged for Cyber Monday! Just Dance 2015 for the Xbox One is on sale from $44.99 down to $24.99 with free shipping.

Price comparisons ensue! This game would cost you a lot more money if you were to buy it at any other retailer right now. Just Dance 2015 retails for:

  • $47.95 @ Amazon Canada
  • $49.99 @ Shop.ca
  • $49.99 @ Staples Canada
  • $49.99 @ Toys R Us Canada
  • $49.99 @ Best Buy Canada
  • $49.99 @ The Source Canada

As you can see, none of the other traditional game retailers have this game on sale – and most certainly not for this price. In fact, Microsoft’s regular price is even cheaper than all the other sellers right now. EB Games is missing from this list, but their server is down (as of this post) so I could not compare.

There are some bonuses with the 2015 edition of the game you know and love. Just Dance now includes phone and tablet support for the game. You can download a free app on your smart phone or tablet that will let you play the game on the go!

Reviews for this title are mixed. most people thing they did not add enough to this new version of the game to make it worth buying. Others appreciate the attention paid to community, but hate how the game is not compatible with DLC. However, if you are new to the game or bought an Xbox One and need a few more games to play, this might just be a great pick. As one reviewer says:

So if you can set your cynicism aside and gather your three least inhibited friends (and maybe some of their kids or younger siblings), Just Dance 2015 can be one of the most fun games you’ll play this year.

I have wanted to try a game like this for ages. I love dancing – in the privacy of my own home – and think this would be a great way to burn off a few calories. As another reviewer on Metacritic said:

Just be forewarned—it took less than twenty minutes as a casual player to build up a sweat, so make sure you plan your wardrobe and company accordingly.

That sounds like an excellent way to burn off a few Easter chocolates, and maybe an entire Easter bunny over a weekend.

Best Buy Canada: 2 for $50 on Select Xbox One Games

Posted by on April 7, 2015 at 9:23 PM

Best Buy Canada: 2 for $50 on Select Xbox One Games

Best Buy Canada is offering two select Xbox One games for just $50. These games regularly retail for $39.99 each – so you are saving around $30 with this deal. As you are buying two games for $50, your order will also qualify for free shipping.

Select game titles include:

  • Ryse: Son of Rome (Xbox One)
  • Forza Motorsport 5 Game Of The Year (Xbox One)
  • Sunset Overdrive (Xbox One)
  • Forza 5 (Xbox One)
  • Dead Rising 3 (Xbox One)

While this looks like a good deal – I did some careful price comparing with Walmart and with Amazon Canada to see what they charger per game.

Walmart Canada:

  • Ryse: Son of Rome (Xbox One) - $39.96
  • Forza Motorsport 5 Game Of The Year (Xbox One) - $39.96
  • Sunset Overdrive (Xbox One) – $64.96
  • Forza 5 (Xbox One) – not stocked
  • Dead Rising 3 (Xbox One) – $39.96 (OOS)

Amazon Canada:

  • Ryse: Son of Rome (Xbox One) - $34.89
  • Forza Motorsport 5 Game Of The Year (Xbox One) - $39.99
  • Sunset Overdrive (Xbox One) – $39.99
  • Forza 5 (Xbox One) – $39.99
  • Dead Rising 3 (Xbox One) – $28.99

With this promotion from Best Buy, each game comes down to $25, which certainly bests any of the prices at Walmart and Amazon right now. Three previously played versions are also included in the offer. However, I would only select them at last resort – if the regular version were sold out – as they are certainly worth less money.

I know zip about these games; therefore, I suggest reading some comments on Best Buy. I checked out the reviews on Sunset Overdrive and found everyone (except one guy) really loved the game. Most gamers were saying the person who gave the game one star obviously had not played the game themselves. For the three games that have ratings; Sunset Overdrive has a 4/5 star rating, Forza 5 has a 5/5 star rating, and Dead Rising 3 Also has a 5/5 star rating.

With the recent release of Furious 7, I really have the itch to play another racing game. Boxing and racing games used to be my standby entertainment when I was at the movie theatre too early. I really enjoyed the car racing games as well as the motorcycle racing games. I would pick up Forza Motorsport 5 – game of the Year edition for sure!

I have no idea when this promotion ends so please purchase sooner rather than risk missing out.

Downloadable Content for Titanfall FREE @ Xbox Store ($25 Value)

Downloadable Content for Titanfall FREE @ Xbox Store ($25 Value)

I know zip about Titanfall, but the internet is swarming with happy gamers because Microsoft has discounted a load of Titanfall DLC for the Xbox One and the Xbox 360.

Here is how the deal goes. The Titanfall Season Pass was $24.99 and is now on sale for $0.00. The season pass includes all three of the DLC packs for a total of nine maps.

I have linked directly to the Canadian store for these freebies. However, if you have regional issues (as in it shows en-CA in the website address), then your region may be defaulting to the USA. Click here to reset your region to Canada, as you must get these through the Canadian store.

Now, what if you already have one or two of these down loadable content packs? Well, you can get each pack – for free – separately. Separately, each of the three packs retailed for $9.99, so you are still saving a good chunk of money.

Here are the direct links for the individual Xbox One DLC packs:

Here are the direct links for the individual Xbox 360 DLC packs:

Again, if you are redirected the the US website (even though I have linked to the Canadian side), then use the link above to change your default region. Xbox requires a credit card (that is why you need the Canadian region) but that card will not be charged for this dowloadable content.

Each pack comes with new maps, bug fixes, and new features. Here are the maps you will receive with each pack:

  • Expedition: War Games, Swampland, and Runoff
  • Frontier’s Edge: Dig Site, Export, and Haven
  • IMG Rising: Backwater, Zone 18, and Sandtrap

All of these maps come with the season pass or you can purchase the DLC packs individually through the links above. The season pass is most convenient if you do not already own one or more of these DLCs.

For players of Titanfall, this is approximately a $25 freebie! I do not play Titanfall myself, so I would love to hear from anyone who does and picks up this freebie.

Amazon.ca: Call of Duty Ghosts (XBox 360) Was $30 | Now $5 *HOT*

Posted by on March 10, 2015 at 12:19 PM

Amazon.ca: Call of Duty Ghosts (XBox 360) Was $30 | Now $5 *HOT*

A few days ago, Call of Duty: Ghosts for the PS3 went on sale for $4.99 and sold out very quickly! Today, Amazon Canada dropped their price on the xBox 360 version. Call of Duty: Ghosts (xBox 360) is now on sale from $29.99 down to $4.99. Receive free shipping on orders of $25 or more at Amazon or pay around $5 for just this game to be shipped out.

A quick price comparison shows that this game is well below any other retailer’s price. Here is what other Canadian retailers are selling the xBox 360 version for:

  • $29.99 @ Future Shop Canada
  • $29.99 @ Best Buy Canada
  • $29.99 @ Toys R Us Canada
  • $49.99 @ Chapters Indigo Canada

Used copies retail for $24.99 at Best Buy and Future Shop. Essentially, you are getting a new copy for $20 cheaper than a used copy. Really, you cannot do better than that.

This game is really not that old. Released in November 2013, this first-person shooter video game is part of the Call of Duty line of games. I checked out the game on metacritic, where it has a 73/100 rating via critics. I did find out some interesting info on player development, which I thought I would share:

In Call of Duty: Ghosts you don’t just create a class, you create a soldier. Choose the head, body type, head-gear and equipment, and you can even create a female soldier for the first time. With over 20,000 possible combinations, you can create the soldier you’ve always wanted. And each soldier you create will also have his or her own load outs

I find it fascinating that you can create female soldiers in this game as female characters are often ignored in first-person shooter games like this. I really like this development, as I would love to create a kick-ass female soldier. I like males well enough, but creating a character within a game is a way of inserting yourself into the game in avatar form. I like to game, but i do not need a sex change!

If you want to see how this game plays on the xBox 360, there are plenty of YouTube videos to give you a walk through. I picked out this one, as it is nice and short.

Microsoft Canada: $60 Off Xbox One with Evolve Pre-Order

Microsoft Canada: $60 Off Xbox One with Evolve Pre Order

Pre-Order the game Evolve for $69.99, and receive $60 off the Xbox One Console of your choice from Microsoft Canada.

Add both the console of your choice and the Evolve game to your cart for the discount to apply. This is a rather interesting deal as the Evolve game is $69.99, so you are essentially paying only $10 for a brand new Xbox game – if you want to look at it that way. The qualifying consoles are:

Now, this is only a deal if you are planning to get this game anyway. I price checked the game against Amazon, and they have it on pre-order for $69 so it is not like this game is selling for a lot cheaper elsewhere. The title will be released on the 10th of February 2015.

I do not know much about the game, but here is a synopsis from Amazon:

The creators of Left 4 Dead, Turtle Rock Studios, bring you Evolve, the next generation of multiplayer shooters where four hunters face-off against a single, player-controlled monster. Stalk your prey, execute your attack and prove you are the apex predator in adrenaline-pumping 4v1 matches.

This game is all about having fun with your friends. Grab three friends to go kill the big bad predator before it kills you. Choose a hunting style that best suits your personality, be it Trapper, Support, Assault, or Medic. There are different modes where even the flora and fauna are evil – you need to use them for your advantage or they will kill you.

Receive free shipping on all orders at the Microsoft Store Canada.

Microsoft Store: Bonus $10 Xbox Gift Card with Select Game Pre-Orders

Posted by on January 22, 2015 at 8:30 PM

Microsoft Store: Bonus $10 Xbox Gift Card with Select Game Pre Orders

Enjoy a bonus $10 Xbox Gift Card with the pre-order of select Xbox games at the Microsoft Store.

If you are planning to pre-order any games, you might as well get a nice little bonus with them since you will be paying full price for the game. Eligible titles for the bonus $10 gift card start at $49.99 and go up to $259.99.

For $49.99, you can pre-purchase Rugby 2015 for Xbox One. The title will not be released until the 24th of February, so you have approximately one month to wait. Be the pro-player you never had the figure for when you grab this game full of breathtaking kicks, tackles, and passes. The bonus $10 Xbox gift card does not hurt either.

Perhaps the most anticipated title of the New Year, Halo 5: Guardians for Xbox One is available for pre-order. Flop down $69.99 and get a bonus $10 Xbox Gift Card digital code with your purchase. Unfortunately, you will have to wait a while on this one; it is not scheduled for release until the end of December! If you follow the Halo franchise, then you know just how amazing this video game title has been in the past. The new version brings an all-new Arena multiplayer mode and new campaigns to keep you awake for days on end.

I think I need to play my current Final Fantasy game before my hubby will let me purchase another one. However, if you already came out of your locked bedroom covered in Cheetos dust, then pre-order Final Fantasy Type-0 HD at Microsoft. The game retails for $69.99 and will not be released until the end of 2015.

For pre-orders, you are required to give your credit card information and authorization but you will not be charged until the game is shipped. However, your bank may charge you a small reversible card-checking fee – but that should disappear within a few days. This way, your pre-order is a win-win situation as you can always cancel the order if you find it cheaper elsewhere.

There is a limit of one $10 gift card per qualifying Xbox One or Xbox 360 game title purchased for up to three game titles per person. Thus, this promotion can give you up to $30 in Xbox gift cards with your pre-orders. Shipping is free on all orders with Microsoft Canada.

This Disney Infinity 2.0 Marvel Super Heroes Starter Pack will also include the shipping cost from Amazon.ca. If you order now, Amazon Canada also states that your item will arrive before Christmas.

Reviewers on Amazon.ca seemed to love this one, one review states:

My boys can’t get enough of this game. They love superheroes and Infinity 2.0 is way better structured than the first one with helping guide them to missions. Since they are only 4 and 7 years old the concept of spending skill points needed to be explained but all in all a great game.

Which character will you choose to be, The Hulk crashing down trees and throwing cars – or Captain America to save the world?

Shape Up – Xbox One Only $29.96 @ Walmart (Was $60)

Posted by on December 14, 2014 at 2:23 PM

Shape Up Xbox One Only $29.96 @ Walmart (Was $60)

Shape Up for the Xbox One is on sale for only $29.96 at Walmart Canada with free shipping. That is 50% off the regular price of $59.99 so you are saving a good chunk of cash on a brand new game for a new console.

Let us get our price comparisons out of the way first. I will let you know right away that Amazon Canada just dropped their price on Shape Up for the Xbox Up to match Walmart’s price. So if Walmart sells out, you can hop on over to Amazon Canada to purchase the game. Now, while there are two companies with the same price, the game is still a good deal. Every other company I price compared with has the game for substantially higher. Shape Up is $59.99 @ Best buy, $59.99 @ Future Shop, and $59.99 @ EB games (OOS). EB Games even had recycled copies for $54.99, which are also out of stock.

This is a game you are going to want to have in your arsenal come the New Year. When you are stuffed fat full of turkey and ham and Christmas treats, you will need something to get you off your butt and burning all those calories. This game is all about making you forget you are working out by having a load of fun. Via the camera, you can work out with your friends or family. You can also save your workouts and challenge your friends.

Now, a bug taints many of the comments – where the game would just randomly crash. However, there is a simple fix for this:

To fix this issues with this game simply change the Profile Pic to a standard one. It’s a strange fix, but whatever makes it work is alright.

Once you fix the small glitch, people seem to love the game:

Two workouts completed. Keeping the game! Worked up a bit of a sweat. With a nice variety of mini games and a tracker to keep you wanting to do more, this game has just enough to be a strong addition to my stable of workout games. Personally I would price it at 44.99… especially with the season pass already available.

I like how this person suggests a price he would feel comfortable paying for the game. Well, now it is $15 below what even he would pay so I suggest grabbing it ASAP.

Microsoft Canada: Free Game & $50 Off Xbox One Bundles (ACTIVE AGAIN)

Microsoft Canada: Free Game & $50 Off Xbox One Bundles (ACTIVE AGAIN)

(BUMP – Microsoft have this back in stock for today only in their 12 days of deal!)

Microsoft is offering $50 off and a free game of your choice with Xbox One bundles right now. With your order you will also receive free shipping.

Now, the $50 off bundle price is not much of a deal on its own. Sure, it beats the price of many of the bundles on Walmart.ca right now. However, the $50 off brings these bundles at Microsoft down to the price of the bundles at Amazon Canada. For example, the Xbox One with Kinect Assassin’s Creed Bundle is on sale for $449.99 (was $499.99) at Microsoft and it costs the same at Amazon Canada.
Where the deal actually lies is in the free game. This is an offer none of the other stores has and the games are valued up to $69.99. Choose from:

  • Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare for Xbox One ($39.99)
  • Halo: The Master Chief Collection for Xbox One ($69.99)
  • Sunset Overdrive for Xbox One ($64.99)
  • Forza Horizon 2 Day One for Xbox One ($64.99)
  • Destiny for Xbox One ($69.99)
  • Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare for Xbox One ($69.99)
  • Titanfall for Xbox One ($59.99)
  • Forza Motorsport 5 for Xbox One ($49.99)

You might think these are just the retail prices and that the games are going for much lower by now, but they are not. I checked out Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Amazon – it is still priced at $69. The other big boy, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, currently costs $68.66 on Amazon. If you are trying to maximize your value, then purchase one of those two games.

The free game is what makes this deal superior to other retailers even if they have nearly the same price. You can receive a free game, which you are bound to buy anyway, that is worth $70. That is a pretty sweet bonus and is roughly equivalent to a 15 to 20% bonus value on your bundle depending upon which bundle you purchase.

These bundles are selling out quickly as one just sold out while I was writing this deal up, so buy now. Then tell us which free game you picked!
