Best Buy Canada: Free $70 Gift Card With 5 Game Pre Orders

Stock up on games and save with Best Buy’s newest promotion. By pre-ordered five games right now, you will also receive a $70 e-gift card for free. Games for pre-order are available for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, Wii or PC.

Now at first glance I know you might be thinking that pre-ordering five games in one shot is a lot, but if you plan on getting these games anyways once they come out, then you might as well take advantage of this offer now. Plus, the way I see it is that since a typical game costs $70, for five, that comes up to $350 and even though you need to use the $70 gift card on a future purchase, it’s sort of like you’re getting a 20% discount. The only difference is that the savings aren’t instantaneous. Once you take advantage of this promotion, the $70 e-gift card will be sent by e-mail on December 22nd.

Luckily, not all games available for pre-order are $70 either. Just Dance 2015 for Wii and Wii U, for instance, is $39.99. Meanwhile Alien Isolation for Xbox 360 is $54.99.Although there are also games for PS3, Xbox 360 and PC, below is a list of the games you can pre-order right now for PS4to take advantage of this deal.

Future Shop Canada: Epic Mickey 2 For The Nintendo Wii U | Final Clearance $10

Posted by on September 30, 2014 at 1:00 PM

Future Shop Canada: Epic Mickey 2 For The Nintendo Wii U | Final Clearance $10

If you’re a Disney fan, or even just a fan of adventure games on the Nintendo Wii U system, this deal just might intrigue you. Currently, Future Shop Canada is selling Epic Mickey 2: The Power Of Two for the Nintendo Wii U at a final clearance price of $9.97 (plus $5 shipping). Normally $34.99, this game has had its prices slashed several times since its release, but this is the lowest price I’ve ever seen for it.

Epic Mickey 2 allows you to play as two classic Disney characters: Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. It’s a fun adventure game that gives you plenty of different areas to explore.

I tried out the first Epic Mickey game for the original Wii system, and I thought it was a cute adventure that can have some challenging puzzles. It was pretty fun to play, and had some gorgeous visuals. Obviously, this Wii U sequel has even better graphics than the first instalment, and apparently has some creative ways for players to use the Wii U gamepad’s touchscreen throughout the game.

The first Mickey Mouse video game that I played was Mickey Mousecapades for the original Nintendo system. I got it on Christmas when I was just 3 years old, and I vaguely remember my older brother being upset that I didn’t pick Mega Man 2 instead (hey, I was 3! He had high expectations. Plus, I got Mega Man 2 on my 4th birthday – I was one lucky child!) Even though it was primitive and the gameplay wasn’t the greatest, I still have warm memories of playing Mickey Mousecapades for the NES.

You can currently pick up this game on Amazon for $14.44 (only 2 are still in stock as of this writing) and it’s $20.37 US on WalMart’s American website. I’ve included a snippet of a review from Nintendo Power below:

There’s a lot to like about Mickey’s return to Wasteland, and the follow-up does improve on its predecessor in a number of ways.

For $10, you can’t go wrong. Especially since this is a licensed Disney game, Epic Mickey 2 for the Wii U is an adventure worth exploring if you have the time to dive into it. Happy gaming, Bargainmoosers!

Nintendo eShop: Super Smashing Sale – More Titles On Sale Including Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze For $30

Posted by on September 27, 2014 at 9:00 AM

Nintendo eShop: Super Smashing Sale More Titles On Sale Including Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze For $30

Now that the release of Super Smash Bros. for the Nintendo 3DS is on the horizon, it’s the final week for Nintendo’s Super Smashing Sale. During these weekly sales, many old and new games that featured classic Nintendo characters that are in the new Super Smash Bros. title had their prices slashed, and this week is no exception. Until October the 2nd, you can save on a decent selection of titles on the Wii U and 3DS systems that feature Donkey Kong, Kirby, Pikmin, Pac-Man, and several others. In fact, you can get Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for the Nintendo Wii U for $29.99 (regular price on the Nintendo eShop is $49.99). At Future Shop and Best Buy, that game sells for $54.99! Plus, since these games are all their downloadable versions, you can play the games that you want shortly after you purchase them!

There are some great games featured in this sale (including my favourite, Pikmin 3, which was $59.99 but is now $39.99). The other titles that you can save on during Nintendo’s Super Smashing Sale include Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D for the 3DS ($19.99, was $29.99), Kirby’s Dream Land 3 for the Wii U ($4.99, was $7.99), Animal Crossing New Leaf for the 3DS ($19.99, was $29.99), and even the original Donkey Kong for the Wii U ($3.49, was $4.99).

Between some of these all – time classics and Nintendo’s newer offerings, this is a decent sale for video game fans. I bought Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze at the beginning of this year, and it’s a lot of fun (after all, it plays like the Donkey Kong Country games for the Super Nintendo). You can even play with 2 players at the same time, which I found to be a fun experience. It has some stumping puzzles littered throughout the game as well, so it’s a fun, challenging game that will keep you intrigued.

I’ve included a review for Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze from a satisfied Best Buy customer below:

This game is literally flawless, from amazing gameplay, to wonderful music, to fantastic, striking visuals in HD on the Wii U. Literally can’t find a single thing wrong with this game. Every Wii U owner needs this. I am primarily an Xbox guy, but I picked up a Wii U last year and this game justified the purchase ALONE. 10/10 MUST BUY.

Check out this sale to see the full list of titles that you can save on for your Wii U and 3DS systems. Happy gaming, Bargainmoosers!

Future Shop Canada: Skylanders Swap Force Starter Kit (PS4, Xbox One, Wii U) | Was $60 Now $30 (Expired)

Posted by on September 14, 2014 at 9:11 AM

Future Shop Canada: Skylanders Swap Force Starter Kit (PS4, Xbox One, Wii U) | Was $60 Now $30 (Expired)

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, or if you do your best to ignore everything related to video games, it’s likely that you’ve heard of Skylanders. These collectable figurines are wildly popular with children, since they’re so unique – after all, these toys are used to play a video game! You simply place the figurine of a character that you want to play as on a portal, and in no time at all you’ll see that toy come to life in the Skylanders video game! At this time, Future Shop is having a decent sale on the PS4, Xbox One, and Wii U versions of the Skylanders Swap Force starter kit (the latest entry in the series) – you can order a starter kit of this game for just $29.99! It typically costs $59.99 for both the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. You’ll also qualify for free shipping if you order this game, so that’s another great bonus!

The Skylanders Swap Force starter kit comes with the game, portal, 3 figurines that you can use in the game, and some trading cards.

Whether you’re a kid or an adult, these Skylanders games are pretty fun. They revolutionized the genre, and they even have an imitator that’s out in the market (The Disney Infinity series of games). The current rumour is that a new Skylanders game is on the horizon, which is why Skylanders Swap Force starter kits are currently on sale at Future Shop. Regardless of that, it’s still a great deal – especially if you’ve never tried out any Skylanders video games before.

I’ve tried out this game at an in -store kiosk before (they have these at many retail locations, including Future Shop, Best Buy, and even Target). It’s very intriguing, and a lot of fun. If you’ve ever wanted your toys to come to life, this is the next best thing! Plus, the character designs are pretty creative for these figurines, so I can see why this series has so many fans.

Skylanders Swap Force typically retails for $59.99, but it’s also on sale at Best Buy for the same price of $29.99 (as we all know, Best Buy and Future Shop tend to share some deals at the same time). However, it currently costs $59.99 at Toys R Us and WalMart. I’ve also included a brief review of Skylanders Swap Force (the Wii U version) from a Future Shop customer below:

The game was really cool, totally different, and they can jump now! Also, another good thing about the new one is the fact that you can still use the old Skylanders.

Quantities are limited, so get these while you can. Hope you all enjoy your Sunday, Bargainmoosers!

(Wii U) Amazon Canada: Pre-Order Mario Party 10 For $50 (Reg. $65) + Free Shipping

Posted by on August 19, 2014 at 5:30 PM

(Wii U) Amazon Canada: Pre Order Mario Party 10 For $50 (Reg. $65) + Free Shipping

Here’s a cool deal for the Mario superfans: you can pre-order Mario Party 10 for Wii U for just $49.99 instead of its regular price of $64.99. It’s set to be released on December 31st 2014 and since Amazon ships most orders over $25 for free, your order will also qualify for absolutely free shipping.

When I bought my Wii U last year, the first game that I bought with it was Super Mario 3D World and boy, have I had fun with it! In fact, my hubby and I still aren’t completely done with the game as although we beat the big boss Bowser, it turns out that there are more levels that are actually quite challenging and there is even a special character you can unlock. I fully expect Mario Party 10 to be just as fun, though it’s not in the same game style as the 3D world one. Speaking of which, Amazon also currently has Super Mario 3D World on sale for $49.94 (reg. $59.99).

Mario Party 10 is actually apart of a series of Mario games by the same name, which all originated with the initial Mario Party that was released for Nintendo 64 in 1998. Since then, it has been playable on the GameCube, the Wii and now the Wii U. It’s the kind of game that you can play with friends as up to 4 players compete against one another in a series of challenges and activities. In the previous instalment of Mario Party (the 9th one), for instance, players had to bounce around on a clouds and collect the most amount of coins. I’m sure that this next instalment will feature the a very similar game play, with the added bonus of better graphics with the Wii U and the ability to use the GamePad on top of the regular Nintendo Wii remote plus.

This is definitely a must-have deal for any Mario fan or Wii U owner in general, especially those of you with kids. This game may also be played alone against computerized players. It would definitely be even better if there was a possibility to play online versus friends but perhaps one day, it will be a possibility!

We would love to hear from you! Have you played the previous Mario Party games? What did you think?

Wii U Deluxe Set & NintendoLand (Refurb) @ Nintendo Canada: Only $207

Posted by on May 12, 2014 at 9:30 AM

Wii U Deluxe Set & NintendoLand (Refurb) @ Nintendo Canada: Only $207

Did you know that Nintendo Canada has an online store, from which they also sell refurbished products at low prices? Well, I’ve spotted a deal on there, for a refurbished bundle of the Nintendo Wii U console, along with the NintendoLand game – it’s priced at only $200.

Standard shipping is $7, so brings the total to $207 plus taxes.

Even though this is a refurbished item, it still comes with a full one year warranty, so there’s nothing to worry about in that regard. Their refurb policy states this:

Although it may have minor cosmetic blemishes, it is guaranteed to be fully functional. We think you will find the standards for Authentic Nintendo Refurbished Products are VERY high.

Sounds good to me! And it’s quite a good saving on the MRSP too. For example, the Wii U console alone is $250 @ Best Buy, $300 @ Staples, $320 @ Amazon, $300 @ EBGames, $350 @ NCIX, $300 @ Chapters Indigo.

The box comes with quite a few things included, with the main aspects being:

  • Wii U console (32GB Internal Storage*)
  • Wii U GamePad
  • Nintendo Land game disc

There are other items included such as the sensor bar, you can see a full list when you click through.

While you can buy bundles from $350 @ Costco, from $300 @ The Source, that kind of thing… it might be worth comparing those type of prices to see if it’s bundled with a game you are interested in. But if you’re just looking for the basic console and are happy with Nintendoland to get you started, then this price from Nintendo is very good. And the NintendoLand Bundle seems to be around $30 to $60 alone.

Toys R Us Canada: WiiU Bundle Set Only $199.97 For One Hour Only

From 9-10 pm tomorrow night (March 7th), you can go into any Toys R Us and purchase a Wii U Skylanders Swap Force basic set for only $199.97, which is $100 off from the regular price.

The flyer doesn’t say whether this sale will also be available online. This is part of their big Moonlight Madness sale, which has a number of good deals on at varying times. The details for the online sale is not yet posted, but when they are, let me know and I’ll tell everyone about them!

I have a Wii U and it is amazing. It is almost too amazing. My kids ask to play it constantly and it gets annoying, but that’s a whole different story. Our favourite game is called Highway Rollers, which is on the Wii Party game disc. Four of us can play and do minigames and challenges to get to the end. It is quite the fun family game to play. My kids have Skylanders Swap Force too, which is the game that comes with this system, and it is all the rage at school. I also noticed that the game NintendoLand comes with this system as well, so this really is a sweet deal! The cheapest I’ve ever seen it on sale was $249.

If you can order online, this items will ship free as it is over $99.

Nintendo: Get Wii Fit U For Free With Purchase Of Fit Meter

Posted by on January 18, 2014 at 4:00 PM

Nintendo: Get Wii Fit U For Free With Purchase Of Fit Meter

If you had a Wii, but then got a Wii U, you can still work out using your Wii Fit game, or you can also get Wii Fit U for free.

I have the Wii Fit game with balance board from my old Wii. We now have the Wii U and I’d love to try the newer and improved version available for Wii U, and I can actually do it for free. Here’s what you need to do. First of all, download the game from the Nintendo eShop and you’ll get it free for 31 days, so you can try it out and decide if you love it. You’ll use your existing balance board to do the activities (or you can probably buy one from Kijiji if you don’t already have Wii Fit). If you decide you like it, simply buy the Fit Meter for $19.99 at Best Buy, $19.83 at Amazon or you can get it from a bunch of other stores for around the same price. Do your research. You’ll then get to keep the game forever! You just have to sync the meter with your free version to get the game for good.

The Fit Meter is actually really great because you don’t have to just use it in your living room while playing Wii U. It counts your steps, measures intensity and altitude changes so that the calorie counter knows exactly how many calories you really burn depending on how hard you are really working, rather than the distance you’ve gone. Once you’ve synced it to your Wii U, you’ll get accurate readings and graphs so you can track your progress. Take advantage of the fun challenges to get you moving. Wii Fit U lets you have up to 12 profiles, but everyone will need their own fit meter. What’s really cool: your dog can get one too so you can manage his/her exercise needs.

I’m going to to download the free trial right now to help me with my fitness goals. I love that I can weigh myself and the game keeps track of it for me, telling me how much I’ve gone up or down so I can improve.

Walmart Canada: Skylanders Swap Force For WiiU Only $49

Walmart Canada: Skylanders Swap Force For WiiU Only $49

If you couldn’t find this item, or it wasn’t cheap enough for you, enjoy the savings now and pay only $49 for Skylanders Swap Force for WiiU, was $74.99. And because this is Walmart, you’ll also enjoy free shipping.

Walmart’s Boxing Day sales have begun online, and I think the great ones will go fast. Skylanders is one of the hottest games out there right now. It is so popular that my kids had a Skylanders Day in the grade 1 classroom. Personally, I wanted to get this item for my kids at a good price. My husband was in the States just before Black Friday when it was on sale there for this price and the stores were sold out. Black Friday in Canada I went to Toys R Us to get it and they didn’t have it for WiiU. I was issued a rain cheque, but they never got it in. I ended up paying $60 for it at Best Buy last week. If I had waited, like some of you reading this, I would have only had to pay $50 today.

Looking at the in-store list, many of the stores are completely out of stock on this item. So, if you were hoping to pick it up for this price on Boxing Day in the store, you may be out of luck. Much more sensible, get it now online before it sells out there too.

Walmart Canada: WiiU Deluxe Sets Only $259

Walmart Canada: WiiU Deluxe Sets Only $259

If you’ve been waiting and hoping for the WiiU to go on sale, here it is again. The last time I blogged a deal like this, it sold out before I could hit the publish button. This time, I’m hoping it will stick around long enough so that all of our faithful Bargainmoosers can get in it. Both the Mario and Luigi Deluxe set and the Zelda Deluxe set are only $259, was $299. It looks like this deal is available online only.

The Mario & Luigi WiiU Deluxe set includes everything you want with your regular WiiU set, but also the Super Mario Bros. U and Super Luigi U games. This set is supposed to be the best bang for your buck, with $90 worth of games, and the console is the 32GB version.

The Zelda Wind Waker WiiU Deluxe set is also a nice one to have, with the Zelda game and the 32GB WiiU, although the game is worth $60, so not worth as much as the Luigi/Mario set. It may all depend on preference of games when you are buying your sets (and what’s left in stock).

The regular set is out of stock, and so is the Skylanders version.

Shipping is free, as this is Walmart, who always ships for free. You should check out our free shipping page too.

Walmart Canada: Wii U Bundle Only $289 + Free $40 Gift Card

Posted by on November 22, 2013 at 2:00 PM

Walmart Canada: Wii U Bundle Only $289 + Free $40 Gift Card

The Wii U Mario and Luigi bundle is on sale at Walmart for only $249 online! Since I started this post, it has sold out online, but it looks like many stores have it in-stock. I’ve only ever seen it for $299, so this is the lowest price I’ve seen. The Walmart flyer lists the price as $289, but you get a $40 Walmart gift card when you buy in-store.

I’m very excited about this deal as we’ve decided to get the kids a Wii U, and I had asked at various stores if it would go on sale. The answer was always “probably not”. My mom is actually getting it, so I immediately sent her the link then wrote this post. I’m selfish like that. So, if you are planning on getting a Wii U, now is the time, because Walmart also has free shipping.

I did quite a bit of research on this, too. A number of stores have different bundles, like Zelda or Skylanders. I was at first keen to get Skylanders, since this is what my kids want, but upon further examination, that makes it a bad deal. The bundles are all the same price, but the Luigi/Mario bundle I have linked you to is a 32GB system and the other systems are only 8GB. The people I talked to said updates sometimes will take up 4GB, so you want as much space as you can get. Also, the games with this are worth about $90 and the games with the other systems are $60 – $75. This set is the best deal.

Future Shop Canada: Battlefield, Call of Duty Or Assassin’s Creed Games Free With Any PS3/xBox 360/Wii U Game Trade-In

Future Shop Canada: Battlefield, Call of Duty Or Assassins Creed Games Free With Any PS3/xBox 360/Wii U Game Trade In

Hold on to your butts, people, FutureShop is putting on a big one! This is straight up free video games just for trading in any PS3, xBox 360 or Wii U game. This deal is in-store only.

This seems like a lie doesn’t it? Well, I heard about it in the Financial Post and even their readers were saying that there is no way this is true, so much so that the Corporate Communications Manager of FutureShop tweeted to say that this is true. Crazy, am I right?

You aren’t getting junky games. You’re getting three of the biggest releases of the year with a simple trade-in. Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag, Call of Duty: Ghost or Battlefield 4: they cost nothing, you just need to go to the store and trade in any of your games. There is a limit of one per customer, per day. There are some other restrictions too, so read the whole post I linked you to up there. You better believe that my wife and I are going to be there Saturday and Sunday picking up copies of these. I don’t even want them, I just want to flip them on Kijiji for $40 later on. If I never sell them, I didn’t really lose anything.

The deal starts on the 9th and goes until the 11th. I guess this is also valid at Best Buy, but I haven’t been able to confirm.
