Via Rail Canada: Free PhotoInPress Photo Album With Your Booking ($50 Value)

Posted by on May 16, 2013 at 7:00 PM

Via Rail Canada: Free PhotoInPress Photo Album With Your Booking ($50 Value)

Put all your vacation memories in a PhotoInPress Photo Album Courtesy of Via Rail Canada!

I absolutely love traveling by train. It makes me very sad that train travel isn’t as popular as it used to be in some parts of the country. If you’re like me and love train travel but haven’t been on one in a while or if you have never taken a trip on a train, then this summer is the time to do it! And if you book before 30th June 2013, you’ll get a code for a FREE photo album from PhotoInPress.ca.

The offer is good for trips on “The Canadian” which runs from Toronto westward. I’ve never been on a train through the western provinces but some of the scenery is supposed to be amazing. You can use this photo album for any pictures but some of the pictures you’ll get from the train will be spectacular. You could likely get enough awesome pictures just from your seat in the train to fill the photo album.

Its Not Too Late to Shop For Valentines Day: Surprise Them With a Trip Away!

Although Valentine’s Day is here, there is still time to get them something extra special, like a flight out of here! This Winter has been dragging on long enough with its teasers of Spring, then its minus one million temperatures. The other day while taking the kids to their school bus stop, lightning flashed and thunder cracked and there was snow on the ground. I’d love to get the heck out of here on a sunny warm vacation and right now there are tons of deals allowing you (and hopefully me) to do just that. Check them out below.

This Wag Jag Jaunt is offering a sun-filled trip to Bavaro Beach with a $2000 resort credit per room. Get seven nights at a 4.5 star hotel with food, drinks, airport transfers and golf included for only $949!

This ethicalDeal is absolutely amazing and it makes me cry thinking how much I’d love to do this! Starting at $499, you save $500 on an amazing five or six day, all-inclusive beachfront yoga retreat vacation in Costa Rica. Including yoga twice a day and nutrition workshops, this amazing and relaxing vacation is an excellent deal.

Air Canada is offering 14% off flights within Canada (must be booked today!) and 15% off flights to Asia and Australia and deals to romantic European destinations. Check out the coupon codes for Air Canada in the Bargainmoose forum.

KLM is offering great deals to Venice, Barcelona and Prague, but only until tonight!

And don’t forget the 50% off to anywhere in Canada in any class on Via Rail, that has now been extended until February 19th.

Groupon also has some amazing getaway deals including a wine getaway to Niagara Falls, or even a trip to Las Vegas.

If you can’t get too far, Hotels.com is offering a 30% off sale for Valentine’s Day on some great destinations, even in your own city.

And for the really frugal, Expedia is offering some great deals on hotels for less than $99, some as low as $20 a night in cities like Las Vegas, Toronto, New York and even Paris.

Get your loved one what they really want (and go with them!).

Via Rail Canada Valentine’s Sale: 50% Off Adult Fares In Any Class

Posted by on February 11, 2013 at 9:00 AM

Via Rail Canada Valentines Sale: 50% Off Adult Fares In Any Class

Via Rail is having a Valentine’s sale with 50% off adult fares in any class to any destination in Canada that Via Rail travels to. This offer ends on Valentine’s Day, February 14th, and travel must be made by June 15th, 2013.

This is a great deal if you are traveling anywhere around Canada this Spring. I have always fantasized about traveling West by train, and if you have to, now is the time to get in on these really cheap fares. I’ll let you search for your own destination and dates since they vary so widely depending on where you are going and when.

To get the discount on Economy class trains, you must select Economy supersaver fare and your fare will automatically adjust if you meet all of the conditions I’ve told you about. You can book online or by phone or at the station, but online is by far the simplest way to go. You also have to have a minimum regular one-way fare of $50, so destinations where a regular ticket is less than $50 do not apply. The tickets are non-refundable and there are no additional discounts for seniors or youth.

To get the discount on Sleeper class trains, which are valid on the Eastern and Western long-haul trains, you must select Sleeper class, any discounted fare or Sleeper Plus class, any discounted fare to get the discount. Fares must have a regular price of a minimum of $75. Refunds are not available, but exchanges are possible for a service charge of 50% of the fare to a maximum of $150 per direction, per person.

How amazing would it be to travel from one end of Canada to the other by train and see the awe-inspiring scenery that our country has to offer. If you are worried about how your kids will be on the train, some of the Sleeper trains offer videos and games for children. One of them even has a panoramic dome where you can look up at the moon and stars from the train.

I had the pleasure of taking the train for a 10 hr round-trip ride in New Zealand (The TranzAlpine) through their mountains. It was absolutely gorgious and I totally loved just relaxing in the train and taking pictures out the window. They also had a viewing cart where there were no windows just railings so you could get better pictures. We went through 17 tunnels! Soooo cool. A great experience to have.

    Via Rail Canada Express Deals

    Via Rail Canada Express Deals

Did you know that there’s a special landing page on the Via Rail Canada website which shows you some of their special offers? No? Well, now you do!

The page lists various locations and destinations and you can see how many deals are available in each.

Let me show you some example offers:

I’ve just picked out a few random cities there to give you a rough idea of what they’re offering.

The list of departures is supposedly updated daily, so if you’re considering booking your vacation with Via Rail Canada this summer, it could be one to add to your bookmarks.

I’ve never been a big train traveller, but as I get older, I get more interested in the concept. When I was in India, we travelled across the country on a sleeper train, and went first class. Even so, we didn’t really get to see much of the countryside as it was an over-night train. On the other hand, the return journey was cattle class, and that was a hell of an experience! My partner got his shoes shined by a young boy on the way, and there were people running up and down the train selling anything you can imagine. I don’t think that would be the case on Via Rail though…
