75% Off Rosewill 32to 70 Tilt TV Wall Mount w/ 6 ft. HDMI Cable Now $20 + Shipping @ Newegg

My parents got their first flat screen TV for Black Friday, and now they want to mount it on the wall. I haven’t exactly been looking for one actively, so imagine my surprise when I stumbled across this deal at Newegg Canada. Pick up the Rosewill RHTB-14003 32″- 70″ LCD LED TV Lockable Tilt Wall Mount with 6 ft. HDMI cable on sale from $79.99 down to $19.99 with $5.99 shipping.

This mount comes with extras, so you will definitely want to pick this boy up. First, the mount features a bubble level so you can make sure it is completely even across. There is nothing like a crooked TV. This beats the whole ‘measuring down from the ceiling’ method, which doesn’t work very well if your wall or ceiling line is crooked. This is a tilt-mount, which means you can tilt the TV screen down for a better viewing angle. This is a valuable feature and mounts that tilt usually cost way more. Read the rest of this entry »

Google Play: Family TV Sale with Shows & TV Movies from $3.99

Posted by on July 8, 2015 at 4:00 PM

Google Play: Family TV Sale with Shows & TV Movies from $3.99

Google Play has discounted select TV shows and TV movies to keep your kids busy this summer. In this sale, TV movies start at $3.99 and TV seasons start at $6.99.

The best deal has to be on The Batman Season 1 (2008). The full season usually retails for $26.99, but it is now on sale for just $6.99. Join the caped crusader as he saves Gotham from bad guys and keeps the city safe. In fact, children and geeks alike will enjoy this animated series. The first season has 13 episodes, which works out to around 54 cents an episode.

Miffy and Friends (2005) is another excellent selection for families on a budget. Originally $14.99 for the full season, it is now on sale for $6.99. This show is aimed at a younger age group. Perfect for your pre-schoolers:

Miffy and Friends takes preschoolers along on adventures, exploring basic concepts and themes including numbers, colors, seasons, nature, friendship, family celebrations and exotic locations.

There are more recent children’s shows to buy. I know this LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu will be popular among boys and girls alike. LEGO has been big for ages and I cannot see that changing anytime soon. In fact, it seems to be becoming more popular! Originally $24.99 for the 15 episode season, it is now on sale for $9.99. One reviewer said:

Awesome Show! One if those continued Watching after my son was already in bed and actually didn’t even mind kinda shows!

There are also a few TV movies for sale. The Little Bear Movie was $5.99 and is now $3.99. I used to watch this series once in a while and it was okay, but a little ‘young’ for me. However, I can only good things about Babar. I LOVED Babar. While the movie is a bit dated (1989), it is still one of the finest cartoons ever made. Babar the Movie was $5.99 and is now $3.99. Watching Babar is one of my fondest childhood memories!

With the cost of cable these days, it is just becoming unaffordable to have a subscription. Rather, I recommend options such as renting movies online, buying physical TV shows and movies, as well as buying digital TV shows, movies, and more. These are affordable options that can eliminate your $60+ per month cable bill. When you buy the seasons from Google Play, your child can watch each episode as many times as they like – on repeat if necessary.

It is easy to watch these off your TV! Just hook your computer up via an HDMI cable.

Amazon Canada: Proscan 48″ 1080p LED TV & Roku Stick Was $700 | Now $300 (EXPIRED)

Posted by on June 19, 2015 at 12:14 PM

Amazon Canada: Proscan 48 1080p LED TV & Roku Stick Was $700 | Now $300 (EXPIRED)

Are you looking for a large HD TV that doesn’t cost you very much? The Proscan 48″ 1080p LED TV with Roku stick is on sale from $699.99 down to $299.99 today only! As this TV bundle costs over $25, shipping is free.

I tried to find this television on other sites but that was hard! I ended up price comparing against where the television with Roku retails for $499.99 USD. Given the price is $200 more even before the currency exchange, this is a pretty hot deal.

Let us get into the nitty-gritty details now. This is a 48″ LED full HD TV that comes with a ROKU Streaming Stick. With the Roku, you can stream 1000+ chanells including Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Pandora, and more. I assume you can also stream YouTube to the device. The ROKU stick fits into the MHL port on the television – no extra cables are needed. It has a dual band wireless compatibility to easily connect with your home wi-fi network.

The television itself has the following connection ports:

  • Three HDMI ports
  • MHL
  • VGA
  • USB
  • AV Audio/Video
  • PC Audio
  • Headphone
  • Coaxial
  • RF

Now, there is a discrepancy between Amazon’s website and the manufacturer’s description of this unit. In my wanderings, I found this PDF document advertising all the features of this exact same TV & Roku bundle (I compared Model numbers, they are the same). According to Amazon Canada, this TV has a refresh rate of 60Hz but according to the manufacturer, this television has a refresh rate of 120Hz. I tend to believe Amazon made a mistake on this – but I cannot be certain.

There is only one review of this product so far, but it is quite positive. They say the picture is comparable to high end televisions, the sound is fantastic as it offers surround sound, and the Roku to TV compatibility is flawless.

For a 48″ SMART TV, you just cannot do much better than this price. I have never tried Roku personally, but it is a lot like the Chromecast, which I just adore. If I ever get television again, it will be in the form of Netflix streamed directly to my television. I will never purchase cable again.

This deal is available TODAY only!

June 9 The Walking Dead Seasons 1-3 Blu-Ray Box Set + FREE T-Shirt – Now $40 & Free Shipping (Lowest Price Ever!) *BUMP!*

Posted by on June 9, 2015 at 1:00 AM The Walking Dead Seasons 1 3 Blu Ray Box Set + FREE T Shirt Now $40 & Free Shipping (Lowest Price Ever!) *BUMP!*

UPDATE: I wrote about this deal a couple of weeks ago but it’s now even cheaper! Right now, you can get The Walking Dead Seasons 1-3 for just $39.99, which is $6 less than what it was before and is essentially a 75% discount from its original price. Get it while you can!

Have you been meaning to find out what exactly all the hype is surrounding The Walking Dead show? Here’s your chance: right now at Amazon, you can get a seasons 1-3 Blu-Ray box set of this incredible show on sale for just $45.99. That’s a 71% price drop from its regular price of $159.99! It will also be shipped absolutely free.

Amazon’s $114 price drop on this box set is actually the lowest we have ever seen and as much as I’m sure many of you are tempted to download this series, it would be much better to just buy it on sale right now, especially since it’s in Blu-Ray!

For those of you who speak French or prefer to watch shows in French, then you will be happy to know that this box set is bilingual.

Reviews are stellar of course, like this one from a 5/5 happy reviewer:

OMG! Love this show, got it 2 days after I purchased on Amazon. Plus the T-Shirt was a bonus! It was cheaper on Amazon to buy the three seasons together vs separately. I am very happy with my purchase! The Walking Dead Seasons 1 3 Blu Ray Box Set + FREE T Shirt Now $40 & Free Shipping (Lowest Price Ever!) *BUMP!*

The extra t-shirt is definitely a nice freebie but keep in mind that you can’t choose the size. According to reviews, it comes in a standard XL size, so if that’s yours or your hubby’s size, then awesome! Otherwise, you could try one of Kristy’s 8 Hacks To Refashion Your Clothes For Spring. The lace insert could be the best suited for The Walking Dead shirt and as for the size, you could try making it smaller with one of the many tutorials available online like this one from BurdaStyle.

In case you have somehow never heard of The Walking Dead or you have but you just don’t know anything about it, this shows is basically all about zombies. The story follows Rick Grimes, a Sheriff’s deputy who awakens from a month-long coma after a run-in with criminals. Upon waking, he discovers that the world is now overrun with zombies and he must do everything to survive as he searches for his missing wife and son. There is of course much more to it, but you will just have to watch it to find out all of the twists and turns.

Sony 60″ 1080p LED Smart TV Was $1500 Now $1100 @ Canada Computers! (EXPIRED)

Posted by on June 6, 2015 at 9:00 AM

Sony 60 1080p LED Smart TV Was $1500 Now $1100 @ Canada Computers! (EXPIRED)

If there’s a 60” gap on your living room wall, then I know just what you could put in it! This Sony KDL60W630B 60″ 1080p LED Smart TV! It’s a pretty great price just now – the regular price is $1499 but when you add it to your cart at Canada Computers, the price drops to only $1099.

There are quite a few details about the specifications and features of this TV on the above page on Canada Computers, so if you are considering buying it, make sure to have a good read there. Here is a quick list of a few of the features:

  • Built-in Wi-Fi
  • Sony Entertainment Network
  • USB input (x2)
  • HDMI input (x4)
  • X-Reality PRO
  • Motionflow XR 240

I had no idea what the last two in the list were. Apparently, X-Reality PRO is a special engine which shows more colour, detail and clarity on your picture. And Motionflow XR 240 is to do with the refresh rates; with the feature being that it smoothes out the picture, making fast-moving scenes appear more natural. There you go!

TV Reviews

This Sony TV has a lot of reviews on the interwebs, you can google for more details if you wish. But to take a bit of snapshot, there are 28 ratings here on, with the TV scoring 4.5/5. Nearly all of the ratings are five stars, with most customers stating that it’s an incredible TV for the price range.

Shipping Costs

If you live in the GTA, you can get this item shipped to you for FREE. However, for those of you not in GTA, there is a small shipping fee which depends on where you live. I did a few test carts and the shipping was between $13 and $19, which is very reasonable for an item, this size.

Price Comparison

While most other online tech stores in Canada have this TV priced around the $1500 mark, a few stores have it slightly cheaper. The next best (in stock) price I can find is $1200 @ Walmart, followed by $1300 @ The Source. You can see that this Sony KDL60W630B is also $1099 on NCIX, but it’s on backorder and when you add it to your cart, it comes up at $1500 anyway, so it’s no cheaper there. Even when you take into account the possible small shipping fee, the price at Canada Computers is great compared to the competitors.

I couldn’t fit a 60” TV in my room, it would just be too big. How about you? Would you have the space for this TV?

Quantum Leap The Complete Series On DVD Was $180 | Now $55 & Free Shipping @ (EXPIRED)

Quantum Leap The Complete Series On DVD Was $180 | Now $55 & Free Shipping @ (EXPIRED)

I am so excited to see this TV series pop up as an amazing deal, and cannot wait to settle in with my own copy! Right now, you can grab Quantum Leap The Complete Series on DVD. This series was $179.99, but you can have it today only for $54.99. This item will also ship to you free with super saver shipping.

Sci-fi fans, you cannot be without this series in your collection. This compilation disc set has only been available on the market since last April, so fans can rejoice at having a set all their own without having to purchase seasons individually. This fantastic series started in 1989 and ran for five seasons. In this series, a scientist named Sam Beckett is studying the idea of time travel and string theory. In order to ensure his funding continues, he jumps into his time travel machine prematurely. My husband works in academia and I can guarantee with the current state of science funding that Sam made the right choice! Sam finds himself in someone else’s body with partial amnesia. With the help of a holographic image named Al, Sam must right the wrongs happening in the person’s life he is currently occupying. With Al’s help, he then jumps to the next body, hoping each time he will hop back home to his previous life.  If you are unfamiliar, check out the full bio at IMBD.

Walmart Canada will sell you this amazing series for $124.97. Over at Best Buy Canada, you could pick up this same DVD set for $129.99. I found this DVD set over at Renaud-Bray selling for $164.99. I checked over at Chapters Indigo also, as this seems like a series they should carry, but it is currently out of stock.

If you check out the reviews over on Amazon Canada, you will find multiple reviews from very dedicated fans. The reviews are very long and detailed, so I will cut to the chase and give you the overall synopsis I see. Most fans are in love with this series and are watching the episodes repeatedly. A few were unhappy that edits were made to a few episodes from the original airing, including music changes and a few scenes cut short thanks to reformatting done to make this into a compilation. Overall, this should not affect your enjoyment of the series though you may notice a few differences from what you saw when it originally aired. Superfans should check out the full detailed reviews at Amazon for further details.

If your favourite dad is a sci-fi fan, this cult classic would be a perfect Father’s Day gift for him. This is about my price range for Father’s Day though I may give it to my husband for his birthday instead. I am sure there is a rainy summer day coming up soon. You will be ready for an awesome TV marathon day with this collection, just add popcorn.

Sony 55″ 1080P 3D LED Smart TV Was $1100 now $800 + Shipping @ Best Buy Canada!

Sony 55 1080P 3D LED Smart TV Was $1100 now $800 + Shipping @ Best Buy Canada!

If anyone is looking out for a deal on a big-screen TV, then they’d do well to check out this deal from Best Buy Canada. The black KDL55W800B Sony 55″ 1080P 3D LED Smart TV is priced at $1099.99 on their site just now. But when you add this Sony LED TV to your shopping cart, there is an instant$300 discount bringing it down to only $799.99!!

Here’s what you should see when you place this TV in your cart:

Sony 55 1080P 3D LED Smart TV Was $1100 now $800 + Shipping @ Best Buy Canada!

As the KDL55W800B Sony 55″ Smart TV is so large, you cannot use the collect at store option from Best Buy. You can only choose the scheduled delivery option which unfortunately costs a little extra. As you can see in the screenshot above, it seems to be an extra $57.99. But, as the TV is discounted by the extra $300 anyway, that really makes up for that additional delivery charge.

Price Comparisons

As for price comparing this TV elsewhere, Best Buy’s price is definitely the best of the bunch. The same model is $1084+ on and it’s $1100 from Sony themselves. It’s not sold at many more online retailers to price compare. But this is a mega-whopping TV for the money!

There’s only one review on the Best Buy site, giving this TV a positive rating of 4 stars out of 5. There aren’t really many reviews elsewhere as this seems to be a model exclusive to Best Buy. However, there are 189 reviews here on, the majority with positive comments… but a few negatives too. That might be worth a read.

If you are so inclined, there’s another deal at best Buy involving a home theatre system. If you buy this Bose Cinemate 130 home theatre system which is $1599.99 along with your TV, you get an extra $160 discount in your cart. Obviously that’s a pretty big additional spend, so might need a little research and homework before you buy. Sony 55 1080P 3D LED Smart TV Was $1100 now $800 + Shipping @ Best Buy Canada!

Amazon Canada: 73% Off Game of Thrones Season 1 DVD – Now $20.49

Amazon Canada: 73% Off Game of Thrones Season 1 DVD Now $20.49

Ahhh, I can hardly contain my excitement! The Game of Thrones season 1 DVD is 73% off at Amazon right now and can be yours for just $20.49!

I just finished watching season 4 and boy oh boy, if you haven’t watched Game of Thrones yet, then this is a fabulous opportunity. I was a little iffy about giving this TV show a try because I seem to remember watching a scene that looked to have been very poorly made but after marathoning through all four season, I can safely say that this definitely isn’t the case.

All of the Game of Thrones seasons are very well made and the great part about this TV series is that it will have you at the edge of your seat the entire time. So many times, my hubby and I simply sat in shock as events in the series unfolded that we never thought would ever happen because things like that just don’t happen on TV!

But of course, George R. R. Martin, the author of this crazy book series, is widely renown for his plot twists and turns, though that’s what makes watching them even funner. An article I read once concerning one of the most shocking scenes in the series (in season 2, mind you), pointed out that watchers of the series are much more vulnerable than book readers because of the immense foreshadowing in the books. In the series, there is hardly any foreshadowing. One second, you’re cheering for the characters and the scenes and the next, you’re in complete shock and wondering what the heck just happened.

What’s cool about the DVD is that it also comes with bonus footage like:

  • The making of Game of Thrones
  • An explanation behind the creation of the Dothraki language
  • Insight into The Night’s Watch
  • Audio commentary from the cast & crew
  • 15 character profiles

Shipping is only free on orders over $25, so you would need to add a filler item. You can get the other seasons on DVD for:

Get it quick though because the fifth season of Game of Thrones is airing April 13th!

The Office: Complete Series On DVD Was $230 Now $63.49 @ Amazon Canada! (EXPIRED)

*** BUMP – there’s been a further price drop on this item at Amazon. When we first published this post, it was $89.99. It’s now dropped to $63.49! ***

That’s what she said. Today’s deal at Amazon is for the complete series of The Office on DVD – normally selling for $229.99, you can now purchase this set for $89.99 only $63.49. You’ll also get free shipping with your order!

The Office: The Complete Series on DVD is currently on sale for $172.99 at Best Buy and Future Shop. It’s also $165 @

Oh, how I loved The Office – its dry humour that gave us a glimpse into a, often-mismanaged Scranton, Pennsylvania paper company known as Dunder Mifflin was a ground-breaking show for its time. It intrigued me when I first watched it back in the mid-2000s, since I didn’t hear the obligatory laugh-track in between every joke on the show.

Remember when TV shows had to remind us when we were supposed to laugh? After watching The Office, it kind of ruined many shows with laugh-tracks for me (at least the newer ones – I will always love Seinfeld and The Fresh Prince of Bel Air).

Either way, I really enjoyed watching The Office. It was a thoroughly enjoyable series with memorable characters such as Dwight, Andy, and of course, Michael Scott (played by Steve Carrell). One of my favourite lines in the series is when Michael Scott (the manager of the Dunder Mifflin office in Scranton, PA) is trying to motivate his employees, and has the following inspirational line written down on chart paper: You miss 100% of the shots that you don’t take. -Wayne Gretzky -Michael Scott.

The last few seasons aren’t as creative or hilarious as the earlier seasons, but they’re still fun to watch. Mindy Kaling of The Mindy Project also rose to prominence during her time on The Office.

Get this great DVD set before it’s sold out! Happy hunting, Bargainmoosers!

Amazon Canada: 53% Off Batman The Complete TV Series [Blu Ray] Now $141 (EXPIRED)

Posted by on March 20, 2015 at 1:53 PM

Amazon Canada: 53% Off Batman The Complete TV Series [Blu Ray] Now $141 (EXPIRED)

I am seriously geeking out over today’s one day deal at Amazon Canada. Originally $299.99, Batman: The Complete TV Series (Limited Edition) [Blu-ray] is now on sale for $140.99 with free shipping.

This TV series is legendary in the geek world. Every time I attend a comic convention, there is always a smattering of humans who were born after the series that still dress up as characters from the series. Batman and Robin’s costumes tend to be the most popular to cosplay, but The Joker and Catwoman still have a soft spot in many fan’s hearts.

I quickly price compared this set with other retailers. Here is what the complete limited edition Batman TV series retails for elsewhere:

  • $239.99 @ Future Shop Canada (sold out)
  • $239.99 @ Best Buy Canada (sold out)

I also checked at Walmart. they have the regular DVD version for $168.97 – without the special edition car. Amazon Canada’s price on this special edition set is certainly the lowest price around. Amazon also appears to be the only place to find this set right now.

A quick look at reviews will show you that this set is well loved. One reviewer said:

A newly re-mastered classic TV series. What’s not to love? The box design is great, the way the product is laid out inside the box just makes this really feel like a collector’s item. Not to mention re-watching this amazing series all over again is great fun!

This special edition set includes all 120 original broadcast episodes that have been fully remastered in HD. You also receive the Adam West scrapbook, 44 vintage trading cards, and a 32-page complete episode guide. On top of that, you can put the entire collection on your computer with the ultraviolet digital copy that is included with the set. This set also includes three hours of never seen before special features. The highlight of this set, in my opinion, is the Hot Wheels replica Batmobile that you receive as well. This was the first of many iconic cars driven by the millionaire hero.

Speaking of the car, I have seen it in person. Two years ago (I think), I was at the Vancouver Comic Expo. They brought in the original Batmobile car from this series. It was one of the highlights of the show and there was always a crowd taking pictures around it. I caught that picture above when The Riddler decided to steal the Batmobile. Thankfully, the attempt was thwarted!
