Via Rail Canada New Years Happy Savings: 50% Off Economy & Sleeper Class Fares

Need a holiday after the holidays? We feel ya… for a limited time, save 50% off trips along the Ontario-Quebec route or longer haul East-West fares.

It’s definitely never too early to start thinking about Valentine’s Day, especially when you can take advantage of as awesome of an offer as Via Rail’s. Here are some travel destination ideas for a quick week-end getaway for routes along the Quebec City – Windsor corridor with economy class fares:

  • Ottawa-Montreal: $34
  • Montreal-Quebec City: $45
  • Toronto-Montreal: $78
  • Toronto-Ottawa: $73
  • Ottawa-Quebec City: $66

For longer trips, you should definitely be looking into the East-West category:

  • Montreal-Moncton: $104 economy/ $198 sleeper class
  • Winnipeg-Edmonton: $100 economy/ $228 sleeper class
  • Toronto-Winnipeg: $145 economy / $283 sleeper class
  • Toronto-Vancouver: $296 economy / $512 sleeper plus

Last month, I wrote about a Holiday Via Rail offer for 50% off as well and though the current promotion boasts the same prices, there is no word on whether a deal like this will be making a comeback any time soon. So, if you are looking to travel by May 31st 2014, then definitely book your ticket(s) now to make avoid paying a higher price later on.

Have you ever traveled with Via Rail? How did you find your experience?

Via Rail Canada Holiday Special: 50% Off Economy & Business Class Fares

Via Rail Canada Holiday Special: 50% Off Economy & Business Class Fares

Just in time for the holidays, Via Rail is offering 50% off select routes in Canada within the Québec City – Windsor corridor as well as Eastern and Western long haul trips.

‘Tis most certainly the season to travel, especially if there is a holiday party you need to attend that is far away. Considering how massive snowstorms can hit us Canadians at any time, it’s definitely much safer to travel via train than it is by car and even then, there are countless other advantages to travelling by train, such as having no gas cost, and the fact that you can sleep, read, and watch movies while you travel.

Here is a quick overview of some of the prices you can expect to see (valid for either direction):

Ontario-Quebec

  • Toronto-London: $38 economy / $65 business
  • Toronto-Montreal: $78 economy / $124 business
  • Toronto-Ottawa: $73 economy / $114 business
  • Ottawa-Quebec City: $66 economy / $119 business

East-West

  • Montreal-Halifax: $119 economy / $207 sleeper class
  • Toronto-Edmonton: $216 economy / $346 sleeper plus
  • Toronto-Vancouver: $296 economy / $512 sleeper plus

The best part is that you can book tickets for travel up until February 28th 2014. That means that although it’s a great opportunity to save on a holiday trip, you could also plan a romantic getaway with a loved one for Valentine’s Day!

VIA Rail Canada: $25 Fares Between Quebec & Ontario; 25% Off Long Haul Trips

VIA Rail Canada: $25 Fares Between Quebec & Ontario; 25% Off Long Haul Trips

The best way to travel in Canada for less is with Via Rail!

I know it’s a little short notice for the 25% off deal, because deciding if you are going to from Halifax to Vancouver on the train is kind of a big decision. However, $25 fare in the corridor (Quebec to Ontario, basically) is a little easier to decide on with such short notice. You can see all the $25 fares on the first link up there, but it includes places like Toronto to Montreal, Quebec City to Montreal, Ottawa to Montreal and Toronto to Windsor. For both sales, the tickets have to be used by 28th February 2014.

For me, train travel is the best way to move around the country. I don’t normally get all touchy-feely on any given subject, but trains are special to me. There is just something about stretching out in that seat and watching the country go by. You get to see cities, villages, forest-scapes and so many other great sights that you would miss in the car or on a plane. The entrance into Halifax, for example, takes about an hour, but for most of that hour you are treated to an amazing art show. The graffiti artists who practice their art on the cliffs and bridges along the way are amazing. You even get to see mobile art from the people who have done graffiti on CN Rail cars.

I’ve seen a graffiti artist with a paint roller on a telescopic handle painting white over another work, probably preparing a fresh canvas for whatever he was doing next. I even saw a shipment of some small armored vehicle painted in desert camo, likely destined for a ship to Afghanistan.

I love traveling by train and I’m sure you will too with $25 corridor tickets or 25% off your long haul economy seats.

Via Rail Canada: Free PhotoInPress Photo Album With Your Booking ($50 Value)

Via Rail Canada: Free PhotoInPress Photo Album With Your Booking ($50 Value)

Put all your vacation memories in a PhotoInPress Photo Album Courtesy of Via Rail Canada!

I absolutely love traveling by train. It makes me very sad that train travel isn’t as popular as it used to be in some parts of the country. If you’re like me and love train travel but haven’t been on one in a while or if you have never taken a trip on a train, then this summer is the time to do it! And if you book before 30th June 2013, you’ll get a code for a FREE photo album from PhotoInPress.ca.

The offer is good for trips on “The Canadian” which runs from Toronto westward. I’ve never been on a train through the western provinces but some of the scenery is supposed to be amazing. You can use this photo album for any pictures but some of the pictures you’ll get from the train will be spectacular. You could likely get enough awesome pictures just from your seat in the train to fill the photo album.
