Home Depot Canada: Black & Decker 7.5 Amp Reciprocating Saw Now Only $30 & Other Hot Tool Deals (Expired)

Home Depot Canada: Black & Decker 7.5 Amp Reciprocating Saw Now Only $30 & Other Hot Tool Deals (Expired)

It seems Home Depot has a few pretty hot tool deals today, but it would be hard to know if you didn’t already know prices or you did a ton of research. This is where we come in, doing the research for you and pointing out the hot deals.

The first deal I see is on the Black & Decker 7.5 amp reciprocating saw, which is now priced at $30, with no regular price in site. But, I price compared at other stores and found this is a steal of a deal. Shop.ca sells this saw for $97.99. Amazon has a saw that looks exactly the same but says 8.5 amp, selling by a secondary seller for $82.06.

While this saw isn’t carried at many Canadian stores, I see it at U.S. stores selling around the $100 mark. The U.S. NewEgg sells it for $83.40. Of course you wouldn’t get it from there, but I’m just giving you a fair comparison of what this saw sells for all over.

Before Christmas I heard my husband mention reciprocating saw at least 20 times. I’ve of course sent him this deal and he is all over it.

Another hot deal that you’ll want to check out at Home Depot says it is on backorder, so cross your fingers for delivery. Get the Dewalt 1/2 inch 2 speed pistol hammerdrill for $24.99. Again, no regular price is mentioned so I had to rely on the powers of research to find what this tool normally sells for. Amazon is selling this drill for $179.82. Lowes has got it for $199. As you can see, this is a fantastic price.

I wouldn’t wait to order either tool as I can see them selling out quickly, especially the one on backorder. You may be asking yourself what you need these tools for, but one day you could be in a situation where you might need a hammer drill or a reciprocating saw and wish that you’d spend less than 1/4 of the price of one.

Both items will ship for free from Home Depot.

Walmart Canada: 3-Tool Combo Pack Was $20 | Now $10 & Free Shipping

Posted by on February 23, 2015 at 9:14 AM

Walmart Canada: 3 Tool Combo Pack Was $20 | Now $10 & Free Shipping

After Kristy wrote about the last tool deal for the cordless drill, I found another great tool deal that suits almost anyone! Get the Stanley 3-piece tool set from Walmart for only $10, with a regular price of $20 and you’ll also get free shipping on top.

I think this set is truly for anyone. Everyone could use a tape measure, screwdriver and utility knife. I have not used many tools in my life, but I’ve used all three of these! This would make a great addition to your trailer, your garage, your shed, even in your vehicle. You just truly don’t know when you might need to use one of these important tools. If you have a kid moving out on their own or going to university in the fall, they’ll probably need all of these in their first week moving in.

Stanley is a good name in tools as well, so you know this isn’t a bargain basement toolkit. The screwdriver is actually a multi-bit screwdriver with a kind of built-in storage system. It has spring-loaded and magnetic mechanisms so you can change your bits easily.

The tape measure is a 25′ leverlock tape with a blade lock and the knife is a QuickSlide general purpose knife. You might also want to call it a box cutter.

If you are moving soon, this is probably something you’d want to have on hand and easily accessible. Just ensure you open the package before you go because it would suck having the box cutter inside the package and not being able to get it out!

Price comparing is difficult as I didn’t see this exact set anywhere, but this Stanley screwdriver at Rona looks similar and sells for $14.98 on its own. A similar tape measure from Stanley sells for $12.74 on Amazon. I also found a similar knife at Home Depot that sells for $5.88. So while the $20 price is a good deal for the set, the $10 price tag is pretty amazing. Consider as well, buying each item separately from the above stores will also cost you shipping too.

Hot! DeWalt 18V 1/4 Inch Impact Driver Now $62 & Free Shipping @ Home Depot.ca (Expired)

Posted by on February 23, 2015 at 8:45 AM

Hot! DeWalt 18V 1/4 Inch Impact Driver Now $62 & Free Shipping @ Home Depot.ca (Expired)

Home Depot just discounted a great Dewalt Impact Driver. While they do not include the original price, similar Dewalt Impact drivers start at $129 and only go up from there. You can steal this impact driver for only $61.96. Free shipping is also included with this item as it exceeds the $49 minimum.

If you have a major home improvement project in the works, this is the deal for you. The price on the Dewalt 18V ¼ Inch Impact Driver just dropped to $61.96. A very similar Dewalt 18V ¼ Inch without the battery or charger is selling currently for $129 at Home Depot right now. That is a savings of 48% before you add the additional cost of an 18 volt battery. Upon going into my cart for a split second, an original price of $249 was shown on this driver before it quickly changed to the new price. I would grab this driver fast, as it is already showing to be on back order at Home Depot. You can still purchase it as this great sale price, but it may take a few extra days before you receive it.

This is an impact drill from Dewalt is a kit that includes a case and two batteries. An extra battery is a nice feature so you will not have to stop your project to recharge. Dewalt is one of the top competitors on the tool market. You know with this premium brand you are getting a quality tool that will stand up to home repair abuse. If you are skeptical, Dewalt has a 3-year warranty on this driver to ensure it will take you the extra mile. Drive screws with no pilot holes easily with the 1,330 in-lbs of torque in this driver to help you get the job done.

If you are a tool novice, you might be wondering why you need an impact driver. A regular electronic screwdriver functions on many jobs. If you are installing cabinets, hanging gutters or any other project where you need to drive many screws into the woodwork, an impact driver is much more efficient. Check out this article from Popular Mechanics about the differences between a traditional power screwdriver and an impact driver for a more detailed description.

Looking at the competitors, this exact impact driver including the battery and charger is currently being sold on Amazon.ca for $171.99. Lowes.ca has this same impact driver available without the battery or charger for $129. Canadian Tire is selling this Dewalt impact driver, but only as part of a set with a power drill for $289.99. This is a much hotter deal at Home Depot.

Reviewers seem happy with this impact driver and thrilled that it stands up to home repairs and projects. Here is one happy review:

Hot! DeWalt 18V 1/4 Inch Impact Driver Now $62 & Free Shipping @ Home Depot.ca (Expired)

I would grab this one fast. With the driver already in backorder, it probably will not be long before the deal is gone. Free shipping is also included to sweeten this deal further.

Lowe’s Canada: Up to 75% Off & $10 off $100 Coupon Code

Posted by on February 5, 2015 at 8:30 PM

Lowes Canada: Up to 75% Off & $10 off $100 Coupon Code

Lowe’s Canada is offering $10 off orders of $100 or more online. With the clearance section full of deals up to 75% off, this is a nice bonus offer.

Click here to shop @ Lowes.ca now

  • Coupon Code: SS10
  • Discount: $10 off $100
  • Expiry: 11th February 2015

We have seen a coupon of this value once before from Lowe’s Canada, and they also tend to have a 5% off $100 coupon every few months. Out of the two coupons, $10 off $100 is better.

The clearance section at Lowe’s is ripe with deals. I found an excellent sale on bathroom / hallway mirrors that will have you drooling. This Style Selections 30-in H x 24-in W Vancleaf Cherry Rectangular Bathroom Mirror was $99.99, and is now on sale $25. You save $74.99 off the original price. There are many other mirrors on clearance for 75% off right now, but most are out of stock already. However, this Style Selections 34-1/2-in H x 28-1/2-in W Liberton Cocoa Rectangular Bathroom Mirror is also still in stock. Originally $99.99, the mirror is on sale for $25. Unfortunately, neither of these mirrors qualifies for parcel shipping. They either require Lowe’s Truck delivery or you can pick up in store for free. I highly recommend the second option. With the above coupon code, you could purchase four mirrors for $90. Availability depends on your local store.

In the lighting section, I found the Harbor Breeze 52-in Barasway Bay Brushed Nickel Indoor Ceiling Fan with Light Kit and Remote Control on sale. Originally $229, the fan and light combo is on clearance for $179. After coupon code, pay just $169. This fan qualifies for parcel shipping so you will receive free shipping to your home. The last reviewer said:

I really am happy with this fan/light. The remote control is wonderful and it is very quite when fan is on. Easy to install.

Other reviewers thought that the fan’s remote control could be a bit better. Sometimes changing settings required multiple button pushing until the unit responded. One reviewer also thought that the unit hung a bit low, but neither of the other reviewers mentioned that issue.

Shop the entire clearance section to combine discounted prices with the $10 off $100 coupon code from Lowe’s Canada.

There has been a recent change to Lowe’s shipping policy. Lowe’s now offers free parcel shipping on eligible orders of $49 or more. There used to be no minimum to qualify for parcel shipping, but with rising postal costs this was an inevitable move.

For this and any future Lowe’s Canada coupon codes, please visit our forum full of deals!

Home Depot: Makita Cordless Screwdriver w/ 80-pc Bit Set Only $40 & Free Shipping

Posted by on January 26, 2015 at 3:30 PM

Home Depot: Makita Cordless Screwdriver w/ 80 pc Bit Set Only $40 & Free Shipping

Hurry over to Home Depot Canada to pick up this Makita 4.8 Cordless Screwdriver with 80 Piece Bit Set for just $39.97 with free shipping.

While Home Depot does not list the original price of this set, I have done some research. Here is what this set sells for at other retailers:

  • $58.99 @ Shop.ca (OOS)
  • $44.99 + $7.99 shipping @ Elite Tools Canada
  • $50.99 + $20.74 shipping + $4.95 handling @ Black Rock Tools Canada

Elite Tools lists the original price of this set as $89.99 while Black Rock Tools lists the original retail price as $80.99. No matter where I looked, this set was cheapest at Home Depot and the free shipping offer really makes the entire deal shine.

This tool is listed as professional grade and made for serious do it yourself-ers. The screwdriver has a LED job light and an independent on/off switch with forward and reverse modes as well. There is an adjustable hinged handle for getting into hard to reach places or placing screws close to a 90-degree angle. The soft grip handle is comfortable to hold for longer periods of time.

The battery comes built in. One customer wanted to know if the battery is lithium, and he received this response from another customer:

No, it is a built-in Ni-Cad battery that is expensive to replace. I have had mine for close to five years and the battery is pretty well done. Once the battery goes, you throw it out and buy a new one. At that price you can’t go wrong. Good little screwdriver for the money.

That is a pretty good battery to last for five years. I also think you are getting incredible value for your money as you not only get the screwdriver, but also an 80-piece bit set with your purchase. For $39.97 and free shipping, you cannot go wrong.

According to Makita, the set also comes with a charger for the battery. I expected this, but sometimes sets just do not come with everything you need. The handy plastic case will keep the charger, buts, and screwdriver organized and together at all times.

This set is sold online only, and currently ships in five to nine days. I took my cart all the way to where I need to enter my credit card info, and the set is still showing as in stock for me as of this time. However, it could sell out at any time.

Lowe’s Canada: BOGO Sale

Posted by on January 15, 2015 at 7:30 PM

Lowes Canada: BOGO Sale

Lowe’s Canada has a new sale on right now. Buy one item and get another item for either 50% off or for free. It is not always the same item, but Lowe’s explains what you are receiving, and the value of it, very well.

This link will open up to the tools tab, but do not ignore the other tabs. This offer is available on outdoor, bath & laundry, kitchen, for the home, and building materials.

There are some notable deals in the section. I really like the Offer on this Shop-Vac 12-gal 6-Peak HP Stainless Steel Wet/Dry. The Shop Vac itself is already on sale from $149 down to $119. Then, you will receive a free Shop-Vac 2.5-gal 2.5-Peak HP Wet/Dry valued at $39.99 with your purchase. I found the Shop Vac 12-gal at Home Hardware for $149.99 and at Amazon.com for $120.18 US. These qualify for free parcel shipping.

For BOGO free of the same item, the discount is shown on single items as a percentage savings. For example, this Mayfair Lift-Off Crane White Plastic Round Toilet Seat is on a BOGO free offer, but it appears you do not need to buy two of them to enjoy the savings. Originally $24.99, the toilet seat has been reduced to $12.50. I do not know about you, but there are few things more aggravating then a broken toilet seat. I especially hate the ones that slide around on top of the toilet while you are sitting on it. The seat qualifies for free parcel shipping.

If you are doing some spring-cleaning, there are some excellent prices on storage bins in this sale. The BELLA Contemporary Storage 37 L Tote was $12.99 and is now $6.50. It is a completely clear bin with a solid lid. The clear bin makes it easy to see what you packed in the bin. For a smaller bin, the BELLA Contemporary Storage 14-Quart Tote is a good option. Originally $7.99, it is now on sale for $4. Neither of these storage bins qualify for free parcel shipping as they are too bulky. However, if you live near a Lowe’s store, then you can pick them up in store.

There are many other deals for you to take advantage of during this sale. While Lowe’s offers free parcel shipping on many items, nothing that is large or bulky will qualify.

Amazon Tool Sale Today Only: Hitachi 3/8″ Cordless Drill/Driver Kit Was $234 Now $50 (EXPIRED)

Posted by on December 30, 2014 at 9:06 AM

Amazon Tool Sale Today Only: Hitachi 3/8 Cordless Drill/Driver Kit Was $234 Now $50 (EXPIRED)

Check out the Hitachi 3/8- Inch cordless drill and driver kit. This combo pack was $234 and is now only $50. This drill qualifies for Amazon’s free shipping which makes it quite the steal.

If you missed my post the other day on the now expired Porter Cable cordless drill set from Amazon, you are in luck as I have another great tool offer for you.  Today only Amazon is offering the Hiatachi 3/8 Cordless Drill/Driver Kit for only $50. This set only includes one power drill unlike the Porter Cable set I reviewed the other day but is also half the price.

The kit comes with an impressive amount of swag for the price. It includes:

  • 14.4 volt 3/8 Inch Cordless Drill/Driver with two speed choices
  • A set of bits with holder
  • 2 batteries
  • A charger that claims to charge in 35 minutes
  • Free standing flashlight

This is a nice little kit for any home user with a lot of extras. This drill is quick charging and includes an extra battery. It has a place to hold all those bits on your belt and a flashlight to ensure you can see what you are doing. From comparing this drill across the market it is also on the lighter side.

You might be curious how my father-in law who enjoys the Porter Cable drills would rate this drill. He tends to do bigger renovation projects that are a little more intensive. (Remember he makes log cabin rooms?) A drill set like this would not really be for him as he needs something with a bit more power. He does use Hiatachi brand tools though in his toolbox. If you were looking for a drill for smaller home repair and renovation projects this would be a good option. If you are tearing walls out down to the studs, you may want to keep looking a bit for something with a little more power.

Lowes.ca is carrying this same drill kit but you will pay much more. This drill and driver kit runs $148 at Lowe.ca. Walmart.ca is also carrying this set priced at $103. Your best bet is to grab this one on Amazon today.

Canadian reviewers seem to be enjoying this set, especially this person below.

This set comes with a flashlight that can stand on its own (very helpful when doing plumbing under the sink alone), the 14V drill, two quick charge batteries, charger, a small set of screw bits. VERY important: this drill comes with 2 Ni-Cad batteries that over time will lose their power… Very pleased with my purchase: I recently installed a garburator, new sink taps with this baby and it was smooth!

I can see this being a nice little set to give someone as a gift. Maybe they are in their first home or apartment and need a drill. On the other hand, maybe you need a replacement for your home drill for lighter work this set should do the job.

If you are looking for other types of tools, Amazon does have some other great Hitachi and Dewalt Tools on deep discount today in the lightning deals such as a staple gun, rotary hammer and router. If you do home projects it is worth an extra look at the lightning deals today.

Bargainmoosers what do you want from your tools? Do you need more power to tackle big projects or handy tools to get the smaller projects done?

Black & Decker WM125 Workmate 125 Portable Work Bench Was $62 Now $20 @ Lowes & Free Shipping

Posted by on December 28, 2014 at 1:56 PM

Black & Decker WM125 Workmate 125 Portable Work Bench Was $62 Now $20 @ Lowes & Free Shipping

Here’s one for the handy DIY-loving Moosers. Lowes.ca is currently selling the Black & Decker WM125 Workmate 125 Portable Work Bench with 350-Pound Capacity at a discount – originally priced at $59.99, you can now get it for only $19.99 with free parcel shipping.

Let’s run a bit of a price comparison and see if we can see this Black & Decker WM125 work bench for sale anywhere else. I spotted it for $30 @ Masoncroft, $40 @ Newark, and also from a few eBay sellers, but nowhere major seems to be selling this exact model of work bench. The Lowes price is a 68% discount on the original price and it seems very reasonable indeed. I did spot it for $20 @ Amazon originally, but you’d pay shipping on that as it is under the $25 minimum.

The Black & Decker WM125 Workmate bench is a great little device; we have a very similar one to this in our very own garage. I just popped out to the garage and ours is actually the Black & Decker Workmate PLUS, so a slightly higher model than this one. It performs a very similar function though.

We were actually making use of the work bench last week, and I am glad we had it. For a Christmas gift, we constructed a “sensory board” for my autistic nephew. We bought a cheap piece of wood (it was actually a cupboard door from Ikea), and covered it in all sort of sensory toys, fabrics, bits and bobs. My partner helped me by doing the drilling and fixing the items to the board. To finish it off, I covered it in coloured paint and stickers, making it look fantastic – and my nephew loves it. Using the Black & Decker workbench was excellent – we were able to do the drilling and fixing with ease.

Another thing I like about our work bench is that it folds flat and hangs up on the garage wall – we’re not tripping over it every day. It’s just folded up and put away after use. If you or your partner does quite a bit of DIY in the home, these work benches are a great addition to your work tools.

Amazon Canada: Dewalt 18 Gauge 2-Inch Brad Nailer Was $165 | Now $70 (EXPIRED)

Posted by on December 15, 2014 at 8:38 AM

Amazon Canada: Dewalt 18 Gauge 2 Inch Brad Nailer Was $165 | Now $70 (EXPIRED)

If you have been scouting for tool deals, Amazon is the place to be today. I found a fantastic and fast-selling deal on the Dewalt 18-gauge 2-inch brad nailer, which was $165.76, and now $69.99.

Amazon has another regular price on their site of $105.99, which is probably the sale price it will be after the lightning deal ends. I shopped around and found a few interesting things.

At Home Depot, they have a Dewalt brad nailer that looks almost exactly the same, but I did notice the model number is different. It sells for $349!

Again, with a different model number, Lowes sells an 18-gauge 2-inch brad nailer without the battery for $279.

I couldn’t find this exact model selling anywhere else in Canada and in the U.S., I found it at a few stores, but this was still the cheapest price.

Dewalt is definitely a winning name in tools, so you know you really can’t go wrong. While the other brad nailers may be a better quality model, if you only need this for occasional use and you aren’t a professional, this level of model at such an inexpensive price point might be perfect for you.

Even with a low $70 price, the reviews tell that this is a quality tool that works:

Great product. I have run about 200 nails through it so far with zero misfeeds. I will be replacing all of my pneumatic air nailers with this brand.

Of course, shipping is also free as this tool is over the $25 minimum for free shipping. Because this is a lightning deal and already almost at the 50% gone point, I wouldn’t wait and call around to see if this is the best price for a brad nailer. Simply get it and think about it later or you may miss out on a hot deal.

There are a few other Dewalt tool Lightning deals at Amazon right now, so take a look in case a brad nailer is just not on your list.

Chapters Indigo: 57% off Travel Kits – Now $14.50 & Free Shipping (Free Shipping Expired)

Posted by on December 12, 2014 at 1:09 PM

Chapters Indigo: 57% off Travel Kits Now $14.50 & Free Shipping (Free Shipping Expired)

Chapters Indigo is offering 57% off these nifty travel kits. Originally $34.50, each kit is on sale for $14.50 with free shipping until the end of today.

There are three travel kits to choose from. The 7-in-1 Pet Travel kit comes with a bowl, a towel, a 1m dog lead, a wooden grooming brush, a blanket, a ball toy, and a travelling pet bag. You get all of this for only $14.50. There is only one review on these bags and it is a 1/5 stars because someone figured this is all the stuff you should have already for your pet so why on earth would you buy this kit. However, I think this is a great kit for when you travel with your pet so you do not need to pack up their regular items. In addition, this kit would be a wonderful gift to someone who is getting a dog for the first time. It includes many essentials for first time owners. I think this is a steal of a deal at only $14.50.

Next, there is a 25-in-1 Tool Kit also on sale for $14.50. The set includes a hammer, a 3m measure tap, pliers with wire cutter, a multi-bit screwdriver, 20 screwdriver bits, and the canvas storage bag. Unfortunately, the one star review on the pet travel bag shows on the rest of the travel bags as they are all linked. I think this is a good kit for anyone moving out on their own or even going to live in a dorm room. It is amazing how essential a measuring tape, a screwdriver, and a hammer is to basic household maintenance and living.

Finally yet importantly, the 14-in-1 car emergency kit is necessary and I really should be purchasing this for my car. The kit includes jump leads, warning triangle, a torch, a scraper, eight fuses, a car boot emergency bag, and an instruction manual inside the storage bag. I do not even have jumper cables in my car right now so if I ever needed a boost, I would have to depend on someone else to have them in their vehicle. You get this entire kit, and peace of mind, for just $14.50 with free shipping.

Purchase one of these kits today to take advantage of Chapter’s free shipping deal that expires tonight.

Now that’s a drill that you can rely on! You can learn more about this Ridgid 18V Hyper Lithium Drill Kit by clicking on the link above.

I currently have a mediocre drill kit (I got it for $35 at Canadian Tire last year), and it gets the job done, but it’s just not very powerful. You get what you pay for, I guess. However, this Ridgid 18V Hyper Lithium Drill Kit has some power that can help me work much more efficiently, especially if I’m fixing up an old arcade machine. I just might consider picking up this drill kit for myself – after all, this is a $99 drill kit!

If you wanted to pick up a similar factory reconditioned Ridgid Impact Driver Kit at CPO Pro Tools, it would cost you $109.99. I’ve included a snippet of a review of this Ridgid 18V Hyper Lithium Drill Kit from a satisfied Home Depot customer below:

I purchased this drill for light duty operation and to take with me on trips when I visit customer sites. The drill is very nice and the hand activated chuck works great.

Happy hunting, Bargainmoosers!

Lowe’s Canada: Free Tool With Porter Tool Purchase & Free Shipping

Lowes Canada: Free Tool With Porter Tool Purchase & Free Shipping

As part of Lowe’s early Black Friday sale, they are offering a free Porter Tool with a Porter Tool 20V or Tool Kit Purchase. The value of your free bare tool varies from $59 up to $89.

Your best deal is to spend as little as possible and get the most expensive bare tool as a freebie. To achieve that combination, you would want to purchase the 20V MAX Li-Ion Drill/Driver & Reciprocating Saw Combo Kit for just $159. You receive a Drill/driver, a Reciprocating saw, a single battery, the charger for the battery, a six-inch fast wood cutting blade for the saw, a double-ended blade tip for the drill, and a storage bag for your goodies.

This bundle also qualifies for free parcel shipping, which is no small thing when we are talking about decently heavy tools. Now, with your purchase you qualify for your choice of freebies. Here are the items you can choose from:

  • 20V Li-Ion Jig Saw – $59
  • 20V Li-Ion Circular Saw - $79
  • 20V Li-Ion Oscillating Tool – $89
  • 20V Li-Ion Grinder - $69

There was a 20V Li-Ion Reciprocating Saw ($79) option but it appears to be out of stock. To get the best value for your buck, the Oscillating Tool is your best option. However, most shops would get far more use out of a Circular Saw, which is valued at a healthy $79.

Lowes Canada: Free Tool With Porter Tool Purchase & Free Shipping

Now, there is a reason I have been using the term ‘bare tool’ and it is not just because the website uses that term. The free tool does not come with a battery thus it is considered ‘bare’. With your kit and your free tool, you will have three tools with one battery between them. In the future, you may want to watch for sales on additional batteries.

The tools are not completely bare, however. The Oscillating Tool comes loaded with extras like:

  • 14 sanding papers
  • Sanding plate
  • Precision Wood blade
  • Bi-Metal blade
  • Rigid scraper
  • Carbide Grout blade
  • Accessory storage box

All these little things come free of charge with your purchase. With such high value tools free with purchase and free parcel shipping, I think this is a fantastic deal as we approach one of the busiest shopping days of the year. Stick one of these under the tree for your favourite handyman or woman.

Quantities of each free item appear to be limited as one is already out of stock.
