Canadian Freebie: 3M VHB Tape

Posted by on April 14, 2015 at 11:30 AM

Canadian Freebie: 3M VHB Tape

Right now, 3M is giving away a free sample of the 3M VHB Tape. This tape is tough and designed to replace screws and hold up to weather conditions. Snag your free sample with 3M before they are gone!

When you fill out the form, this sample asks for your contact information along with your company name. 3M does state that they intend to fulfil this sample for commercial samples. I always write that I am an independent contractor, which I am on the side. After you submit your information, the website does mention on the page after you submit that a 3M representative will be contacting you within seven business days. I suspect you will receive either an e-mail or a brochure in the mail. I did not receive a confirmation e-mail immediately such as may happen with some other sample requests. I expect the sample will take a few weeks to arrive, though 3M does not state explicitly how long it will take.

Several years back I worked with a company that regularly created exhibitions for the public. Our shows had to be clean, concise and hold up to lots of people touching and pulling on items that they should be only reading. I was regularly mounting text panels, figuring out how to make pieces more durable and working with the amazing people in our shop to finish projects. A 3M double-sided industrial tape was regularly in our toolbox. I went through huge reams of double-sided tape for every installation and always had success.

I do not doubt that the 3M VHB tape will hold up to almost any project you give it. This tape is for heavy duty construction projects. You can attach this double-sided tape to metal, glass, plastic and a large variety of other surfaces. Use this tape as a replacement for screws and bolts, no holes or drills needed.

This product will also stand up to various weather elements such as rain, wind and extreme heat and cold. I can see using this sample for several outdoor projects I have in mind, and I bet it will hold together nicely. There is a video testimonial on the 3M website in which a company that works mainly with aluminium praises the tape for also bonding quickly to surfaces without drying time. Most other products that bond as strong as bolts and nails have a long drying time and lots of chemical fumes. I am looking forward to trying out my free sample when it arrives.

Bargainmoosers, what would you hold together with this tape?

Home Depot Canada: Stanley 1600 PSI Electric Pressure Washer Was $160 | Now $100 & Free Shipping

Home Depot Canada: Stanley 1600 PSI Electric Pressure Washer Was $160 | Now $100 & Free Shipping

Home Depot’s got a “Black Friday” sale going on this week, with discounts on a whole lot of items. One item I found in particular as a good, practical deal is the Stanley 1600 PSI 1.4 GPM electric pressure washer, regularly $159.99, now $99.99, plus free shipping.

This is something I know my husband is going to want. I think men just love washing things outdoors. I have to admit, when I wash something with a pressure washer or hose and I visually see the dirt coming off, it gives me a very satisfied feeling. Weird? Maybe. We just bought a trailer, and this will definitely come in handy in keeping it looking new.

This Stanley pressure washer is not the strongest on the market, but it does have good reviews and is a very affordable price. It is good for light to medium jobs like washing boats, motorcycles, decks, barbeques, patios, decks and all your other outdoor items. It is also lightweight so you can take it with you to the cottage or boat.

It has some pretty cool features like a unique tool belt clip, so it really stays with you. It also has a soap dispenser, turbo nozzle wand, quick connect and a straight brush, along with the high pressure hose. Auto shut off ensures your pump has a long life and conserves energy.

This review really summed it up for me:

This pressure washer did all the things I needed it for. The price was great and it works like a champ. I paid $50.00 to have my patio and porch cleaned by a pro last year. If this machine lasts another year I will have saved money.

Comparing prices around the net, I found this exact pressure washer at Staples where it is $150. Walmart sells a lower model of Stanley pressure washer with only 1450 PSI for $138. This deal at Home Depot is your best bet for this practical tool.

Home Depot Canada: Husky Magnetic Pick Up Tool (8lb) Only $3.49 & Free Shipping

Posted by on April 8, 2015 at 6:35 PM

Home Depot Canada: Husky Magnetic Pick Up Tool (8lb) Only $3.49 & Free Shipping

Home Depot currently has the Husky Magnetic Pick Up Tool for only $3.49 with free shipping to your home.

I have seen this deal on before, but Home Depot was out of stock at the time. Thankfully, the stock has been replenished so you can pick up the Husky Magnetic Pick Up Tool for a few dollars with free shipping. I could not find this tool anywhere else in Canada, but similar tools retailed for $5 US or more. For similar tools, Canadian Tire has the Telescopic Magnetic Pick-Up Tool for $13.99 but it only handles 1.5 lbs. The Hillman Group Telescoping Magnetic Pick Up Tool is $7.99 at Lowes.ca. the cheapest tool like this sold by Amazon Canada is the Master Magnetics 07228 Magnetic Pick-Up Tool – certified for 3 pounds – that costs $5.02.

It is important to recognize this is not your standard magnetic pick up too. This tool extends to over 24″ to pick up objects in rather hard to reach places. The heavy-duty magnetic tip can lift up to 8 pounds. Your average magnetic pick up tool you might purchase at the dollar store cannot handle that kind of weight.

The little tool also has a cushioned grip for comfort while you are working. Now, not everyone one of these – but they do come in very handy. If you drop a screw or bold somewhere you cannot easily reach, then just use the magnetic tool to retrieve it.

When I was disassembling and reassembling my PS3, I dropped a screw into a very tight corner. Using two screwdrivers I finally managed to retrieve the screw – with some difficulty. A tool like this would have made that job a whole lot easier.

I have also dropped nails behind the headboard of my bed while hanging pictures, dropped tweezers down air vents, and lost paperclips in the abyss of my drawers. A tool like this could be quite useful for retrieving small metal items.

The device also has a little pen clip for hooking on your belt while you work. That way you never have to find the tool that is going to help you find your lost screw.

I figured that for $3.49 with free shipping, this is a handy little tool.

Lowes.ca: Free Battery with Select Tools (Up to $129 Value)

Posted by on March 26, 2015 at 3:30 PM

Lowes.ca: Free Battery with Select Tools (Up to $129 Value)

Lowe’s Canada is giving away batteries with select tools and tool kits. Many of these bundles are also on sale so you already save money. You also receive a free battery valued at $55 up to $129.

Let us start with the cheapest kit you can buy to receive a free battery. The Bosch 18-Volt 1/2-in Cordless Drill with Soft Case is currently on sale from $139 down to $99. With it, you will receive a compatible battery. This battery is valued at $79.99! Overall, you are spending $99 for $219 worth of stuff between the drill kit and the battery.

There are two ways to receive your free battery. If you click ‘add the set’ on the main page above, then both the kit and the battery will be added to your cart. However, if you view product details and then add the tool to your kit, then you need to add the battery to your shopping cart as well.  Do you see the green bar below?

Lowes.ca: Free Battery with Select Tools (Up to $129 Value)

Make sure you click the ‘Add’ button for the appropriate battery to be added to your cart for free. If you miss this step, then there will be no free battery in your order. After adding the battery on, your cart should look like this:

Lowes.ca: Free Battery with Select Tools (Up to $129 Value)

There we go! You can see the battery is now in your cart and will cost you nothing. Most of these tools and kits qualify for free parcel shipping (on orders of $49 or more), so shipping should be free across Canada.

The most expensive battery belongs to this large DEWALT DCK290L2 20-Volt MAX* Lithium Ion Hammerdrill / Impact Driver Combo Kit. The kit itself cost $369, but is now on sale for $319. This pack includes:

  • 1/2-in Hammer drill
  •  1/4-in Impact driver
  • Two (2) Li-ion battery packs
  • A Fast charger
  • A 360° Side handle
  • A Belt hook
  • A Contractor bag

While the kit comes with two batteries, you are going to be running two tools with them. It is always nice to have an extra one sitting on the charger, or already charged, to slip in when one battery dies. If you happen to need both the tools at the same time – then there is no time to leave one battery on the charger. Your free battery will be battery number three! One of these batteries retails for $129 so you save that plus $50 off the original kit.

Stanley 12.5” Toolbox for Only $4.99 @ Amazon.ca! (Add-On Item)

Posted by on March 20, 2015 at 1:30 PM

Stanley 12.5” Toolbox for Only $4.99 @ Amazon.ca! (Add On Item)

Does your hammer need a home? Are your screws needing stored? Do your bits need a box? If so, check out the deal on this 12.5” Stanley STST13011 Toolbox on offer @ Amazon.ca just now. Originally priced at $15.99, you can grab this handy little toolbox for only $4.99!

If you don’t have the Amazon Prime delivery service, you’d have to make your order up to $25 to get free super saver shipping on this Stanley toolbox, as it is only an “add-on item.” But I know many Moosers probably already have Amazon Prime, meaning that you can just order the above without having to order anything else, and get free shipping to your home. Shipping is a little slow though, you’ll have to wait three to five weeks for this item from Amazon.

The Stanley toolbox has two organisers on the top for small parts storage, to house things like your screw anchors and nails. It’s also got a little tote tray inside which is very useful if you’re doing some DIY and you’re carrying a few tools and accessories round with you.

The reviewers on Amazon are pretty happy with this toolbox, with a few comments about it being a good toolbox for basic home use, but not likely up to the job of being out on a construction site. Makes sense!

I googled for some price comparisons on this item and I actually spotted the very same toolbox at the same price on Lowes here. However, you’d have to spend $49 or more to get it shipped for free there. If you’re buying the toolbox on its own from Lowes, shipping would cost an extra $6.49 in ON for example, more than the cost of the item itself! You do have the option to collect it in-store at Lowes though, if you are so inclined.

My partner has a toolbox almost identical to this one, except I think it’s a larger model. I find that the top storage organisers are incredibly handy. There are lots of little accessories in there which are close to hand when needed for a DIY job round the home; screws, nails, hooks, etc.

(Save 71%) BOSTITCH 16 Gauge Nailer Tool Was $344 Now $100 & Free Shipping @ Amazon.ca!

(Save 71%) BOSTITCH 16 Gauge Nailer Tool Was $344 Now $100 & Free Shipping @ Amazon.ca!

Have some spring home renovations planned? Amazon.ca has a great price on the BOSTITCH BTFP71917 Smart Point 16 Gauge Finishing Nail Compression Tool. This tool was $343.58 but you can grab it for only $99.99 now! This item also qualifies for free super saver shipping from Amazon Canada.

BOSTITCH has a name in the tool industry when it comes to devices that fasten things together such as nails or staples. The quality you should expect from this BOSTITCH compression gun is no exception. This nail gun is perfect for adding the final touches to your project, such as attaching molding or adding the finishing nails in countertops. I would not suggest using this nail gun to hold together the main supports of your project. With this size nail, you should be able to spackle over the nail hole and paint your project for a clean and finished look.

This compression tool is oil free, and hooks up to an air compressor. Oil free tools help keep you from getting a drip of oil on your project. This tool also has Smart Point Technology that helps you ensure when you line your nail up, the nail goes where you aim every time. It is frustrating to be in the middle of a project and have to yank nails back out when they go askew, or because they split the wood. A compression gun will help ensure you spend less time correcting you work, so you can spend more time enjoying your project.

If you are not sure how to use this nail gun, check out this article on The Family Handy Man that walks you through all the basics.

This specific model is not for sale at many places, but there are models that are very similar for sale. I found a similar BOSTITCH 16 gauge nail compression tool designed for finishing projects for $209 at Lowes.ca. I found a slightly bigger BOSTITCH 18 gauge brad gun that uses compression for $139.99 @ Canadian Tire.  There is a cordless version of this BOSTITCH nail gun @ Homedepot.ca for $299.97.

Many of the reviews on this product are lengthy, but most seem happy with the tool.

This is a great price on this compression nail tool. I would pick this up now while the price is hot. This would also be perfect for small DIY projects made of wood. I have a wood trellis for my garden that I want to build, and this tool would be perfect for putting it all together.

Mastercraft 80-pc Screwdriver Set Was $100 Now $20 In-Store @ Canadian Tire!

Posted by on March 7, 2015 at 1:31 PM

Mastercraft 80 pc Screwdriver Set Was $100 Now $20 In Store @ Canadian Tire!

You’ll have to head outdoors if you want to take advantage of this deal! In-store at Canadian Tire, you can pick up a handy little set of tools for less than twenty bucks. This Mastercraft 80 piece Screwdriver Set was originally priced at $99.99 and it’s currently only $19.99!

It’s a shame you cannot click and order these online, or even get free shipping to your home. It’s a great price, but you will have to collect it at your local store. You can use the stock checker on their website to make sure that your location has some availability. From what I can see, the availability looks pretty good indeed.

In this set, you will get 15 screwdrivers of various shapes and sizes, 8 precision drivers, as well as 9 hex keys and 42 bits. There’s also a tack remover, 2 nut drivers, a demo driver, a ratchet handle and a nylon bag in which to store it all. I think that adds up to 80 pieces! Honestly, it looks like it contains some handy items which could be useful around the home.

Now for $20, I don’t expect this tool set to be the most amazing in the world. I imagine it would be perfect for household jobs and a bit of DIY, but I don’t think it’d be the sort of tools a tradesman would carry. However, the web page states this:

This product carries a lifetime exchange warranty redeemable at any Canadian Tire store.

That’s pretty amazing! Make sure you keep your receipt. Mastercraft 80 pc Screwdriver Set Was $100 Now $20 In Store @ Canadian Tire!

If $20 is out of budget, then consider this Stanley Screwdriver Set for only $10 – it’s still in stock @ Walmart.ca and available. You don’t quite get the extensive amount of tools that you would from the Mastercraft deal at Canadian Tire, but it’s a bargain nonetheless.

Please let us know in the comments below if you take advantage of this deal from Canadian Tire!

Was $287 Now Only $92.29, Porter-Cable 2 Drill Kit @ Amazon.ca *BUMP*

Posted by on March 6, 2015 at 8:00 AM

Was $287 Now Only $92.29, Porter Cable 2 Drill Kit @ Amazon.ca *BUMP*

*BUMP* Check out this great little steal. Amazon is offering the Porter-Cable 12-Volt Max Compact Lithium-Ion 2-Tool Kit which was previously $286.98 for only $92.29. This combo kit is a steal for a quality power drill and meets the requirements for free shipping.

I am no stranger to tools but my husband, father and father-in-law are usually the experts that I consult when looking at great deals on tools. This double drill set is a great deal for a powerful little drill set that will last. If you are not familiar with Porter-Cable, they are truly is a brand you can count on.

My father-in-law is a true bargain hunter. He will drive past three other huge stores to get to the store that has the cheaper ketchup and then pick up buns at another store just to save a dollar. He has been slowly switching his tools to Porter-Cable because they are reliable and great value for the price. He has renovated multiple houses (you should see his log cabin style rooms!) and Porter-Cable is always in his toolbox these days.

Reviewers praise this particular drill set for being light. If you have ever been in the middle of a project and felt your arm was going to fall off, you know it is an important feature. They are also cordless with quite a bit of power. It comes with a larger more powerful drill and a smaller drill for getting into even tighter spaces. This drill also provides multiple speed options and a tighter grip on the bits so you strip fewer screws and do not destroy the bits.

This drill set is not going to be cheaper elsewhere. I price compared across the web and right now the only other major retailer where this combo pack is available is Lowes.ca for $159. Looking over the border, the Americans are paying $101.97 @ Amazon.com and are reviewing these with high ratings. We are getting a better deal on our end.

Those who took the leap to buy this set gave it high reviews both on Amazon.ca and on the Lowes.ca site.

It is so much nicer than my other rechargeable drill as it is so big, unbalanced and clumsy. These units are well balanced, light weight and have a light to show your work space and just a joy to use!

Another reviewer sounds like they have completed their first project with these drills and had success.

These are great for small jobs. So far so good. The impact driver does have about 80 ft lbs of torque and I tested it. I love this and will but Porter cable products again.

Keep this set handy for all of your small projects. You can thank me later! Bargainmoosers, what projects do you have in mind for these drills?

Dremel Minimite Cordless Rotary Tool Was $51.50 | Now $20 (FS @ $25+) @ Amazon.ca

Posted by on March 5, 2015 at 9:40 AM

Dremel Minimite Cordless Rotary Tool Was $51.50 | Now $20 (FS @ $25+) @ Amazon.ca

Pick up this snazzy cordless rotary tool today at Amazon.ca and get a jump on your list of DIY projects. This handy tool was $51.50 but is now only $20. This item qualifies for free super saver shipping with a minimum purchase of $25.

Dremel is known in the tool space for producing high quality rotary tools. In fact, I have only known rotary tools to be called a Dremel.  It is similar to Xerox, Crock Pot or Chapstick where the original product is such a great product it is known by the brand name. If you were curious, check out this great list of brand names people use as generic terms from Mentalfloss. Dremel should certainly be added to that list.

This Dremel Minimite rotary tool comes with accessories, a wrench for changing the accessories, a charger and a handy case to keep it all together. The eight accessories can be used for a variety of work such as sanding corners, drilling holes, or etching and finishing your projects. This tool has two speeds to give you more control when working on delicate projects or projects that are harder to reach. This tool is also backed by the manufacturer with a two year warranty.

My favourite use for this tool is for jewelry making. This tool allows you to drill a hole in pretty much any small object, allowing you to turn it into jewelry. This is also great for finishing the edges of your projects. If you like to do DIY projects for your home or like to make crafty things, this is a tool that should be in your arsenal. Several reviewers have also mentioned using the sanders on this tool to trim their dogs nails, which is a use I had not considered.

You could pick up this Dremel rotary tool for $44.99 @ Homedepot.ca. You could also grab this same Dremel rotary tool @ Canadian Tire  for $49.99. I did find this item @ Walmart but it is out of stock and priced at $44.97.  Sears.ca has a similar deluxe version with more attachments for $59.99.

This particular tool has great reviews overall. Several of the longer reviews talk about trimming dog nails, but here is one reviewer using the tool for a variety of projects.

Our second one and it works great. Compact and powerful enough for our needs. Very versatile with an assortment of uses.

I would grab this rotary tool now while they still have them in stock. Dremel is a well-known brand for rotary tools and this price is a steal. Throw a smaller item in your cart for free shipping and grab this item now.

Not sure what else to grab to qualify for free shipping? You may want to consider looking at some of Amazon’s add-on items. Add-on items are lower priced, smaller items often at great deals that only ship with a super saver shipping order over $25 total. It is a great way to get two deals instead of one for an extra bonus.

Walmart Canada: 50% off Stanley Screwdriver Set – Was $20 | Now $10 & Free Shipping

Posted by on February 25, 2015 at 1:00 PM

Walmart Canada: 50% off Stanley Screwdriver Set Was $20 | Now $10 & Free Shipping

Walmart Canada is offering 50% off a couple Stanley Tool packs. We mentioned the Three Tool Combo pack before, but now the Stanley 40pc Screwdriver Set – STHT60105 is on sale from $19.98 down to $10 with free shipping.

This set has everything you need to screw things into a wall, to assemble a shelving unit, or to assemble furniture. The set includes 10 screwdrivers, six-piece precision screwdriver set, two curved screwdrivers, one multi bit screwdriver, and 21 bits. That is probably more screwdrivers than you will ever need, but you cannot beat the price.

The entire set comes with the standard limited lifetime warranty from Stanley. Stanley is a household name in tools so I was surprised to see such a good deal on a set of their screwdrivers.

While you may think that you do not need a screwdriver, these things come in super handy. I was assembling a barbecue one day and would have really liked one of those curved screwdriver extensions. Sometimes screws are in the most annoying places to reach. In addition, it is nice to have multiple screwdrivers so you can assemble a bookshelf or more with some help. These tools are good for the job site and fit in right at home in your garage or home tool drawer.

It is amazing how many times I reach for a screwdriver when I really didn’t think I would use mine much. The last time was to replace the entire smoke detector in our apartment. The detector was screwed into the ceiling so I had to fish out the proper bit to get it down and put the next one up.

I price compared this screwdriver set with a couple other retailers. Amazon Canada has the set on sale from $41.99 down to $10 but you would have to pay for shipping or get your cart up to $25. Thus, Walmart’s deal is better as it includes free shipping. I also price compared with Lowe’s, where the set is on sale from $19.99 down to $14.99. Lowes.ca only offers free shipping at $49 now.

If you are buying this set, then I highly recommend picking up the Three Tool Combo Pack that Eva blogged about as well. That set includes a measuring tape, interchangeable screwdriver, and a Quickslide knife. Together, both these sets will flesh out your tool kit.

Home Depot Canada: Black & Decker 7.5 Amp Reciprocating Saw Now Only $30 & Other Hot Tool Deals (Expired)

Posted by on February 24, 2015 at 8:16 AM

Home Depot Canada: Black & Decker 7.5 Amp Reciprocating Saw Now Only $30 & Other Hot Tool Deals (Expired)

It seems Home Depot has a few pretty hot tool deals today, but it would be hard to know if you didn’t already know prices or you did a ton of research. This is where we come in, doing the research for you and pointing out the hot deals.

The first deal I see is on the Black & Decker 7.5 amp reciprocating saw, which is now priced at $30, with no regular price in site. But, I price compared at other stores and found this is a steal of a deal. Shop.ca sells this saw for $97.99. Amazon has a saw that looks exactly the same but says 8.5 amp, selling by a secondary seller for $82.06.

While this saw isn’t carried at many Canadian stores, I see it at U.S. stores selling around the $100 mark. The U.S. NewEgg sells it for $83.40. Of course you wouldn’t get it from there, but I’m just giving you a fair comparison of what this saw sells for all over.

Before Christmas I heard my husband mention reciprocating saw at least 20 times. I’ve of course sent him this deal and he is all over it.

Another hot deal that you’ll want to check out at Home Depot says it is on backorder, so cross your fingers for delivery. Get the Dewalt 1/2 inch 2 speed pistol hammerdrill for $24.99. Again, no regular price is mentioned so I had to rely on the powers of research to find what this tool normally sells for. Amazon is selling this drill for $179.82. Lowes has got it for $199. As you can see, this is a fantastic price.

I wouldn’t wait to order either tool as I can see them selling out quickly, especially the one on backorder. You may be asking yourself what you need these tools for, but one day you could be in a situation where you might need a hammer drill or a reciprocating saw and wish that you’d spend less than 1/4 of the price of one.

Both items will ship for free from Home Depot.

Walmart Canada: 3-Tool Combo Pack Was $20 | Now $10 & Free Shipping

Posted by on February 23, 2015 at 9:14 AM

Walmart Canada: 3 Tool Combo Pack Was $20 | Now $10 & Free Shipping

After Kristy wrote about the last tool deal for the cordless drill, I found another great tool deal that suits almost anyone! Get the Stanley 3-piece tool set from Walmart for only $10, with a regular price of $20 and you’ll also get free shipping on top.

I think this set is truly for anyone. Everyone could use a tape measure, screwdriver and utility knife. I have not used many tools in my life, but I’ve used all three of these! This would make a great addition to your trailer, your garage, your shed, even in your vehicle. You just truly don’t know when you might need to use one of these important tools. If you have a kid moving out on their own or going to university in the fall, they’ll probably need all of these in their first week moving in.

Stanley is a good name in tools as well, so you know this isn’t a bargain basement toolkit. The screwdriver is actually a multi-bit screwdriver with a kind of built-in storage system. It has spring-loaded and magnetic mechanisms so you can change your bits easily.

The tape measure is a 25′ leverlock tape with a blade lock and the knife is a QuickSlide general purpose knife. You might also want to call it a box cutter.

If you are moving soon, this is probably something you’d want to have on hand and easily accessible. Just ensure you open the package before you go because it would suck having the box cutter inside the package and not being able to get it out!

Price comparing is difficult as I didn’t see this exact set anywhere, but this Stanley screwdriver at Rona looks similar and sells for $14.98 on its own. A similar tape measure from Stanley sells for $12.74 on Amazon. I also found a similar knife at Home Depot that sells for $5.88. So while the $20 price is a good deal for the set, the $10 price tag is pretty amazing. Consider as well, buying each item separately from the above stores will also cost you shipping too.

Hot! DeWalt 18V 1/4 Inch Impact Driver Now $62 & Free Shipping @ Home Depot.ca (Expired)

Posted by on February 23, 2015 at 8:45 AM

Hot! DeWalt 18V 1/4 Inch Impact Driver Now $62 & Free Shipping @ Home Depot.ca (Expired)

Home Depot just discounted a great Dewalt Impact Driver. While they do not include the original price, similar Dewalt Impact drivers start at $129 and only go up from there. You can steal this impact driver for only $61.96. Free shipping is also included with this item as it exceeds the $49 minimum.

If you have a major home improvement project in the works, this is the deal for you. The price on the Dewalt 18V ¼ Inch Impact Driver just dropped to $61.96. A very similar Dewalt 18V ¼ Inch without the battery or charger is selling currently for $129 at Home Depot right now. That is a savings of 48% before you add the additional cost of an 18 volt battery. Upon going into my cart for a split second, an original price of $249 was shown on this driver before it quickly changed to the new price. I would grab this driver fast, as it is already showing to be on back order at Home Depot. You can still purchase it as this great sale price, but it may take a few extra days before you receive it.

This is an impact drill from Dewalt is a kit that includes a case and two batteries. An extra battery is a nice feature so you will not have to stop your project to recharge. Dewalt is one of the top competitors on the tool market. You know with this premium brand you are getting a quality tool that will stand up to home repair abuse. If you are skeptical, Dewalt has a 3-year warranty on this driver to ensure it will take you the extra mile. Drive screws with no pilot holes easily with the 1,330 in-lbs of torque in this driver to help you get the job done.

If you are a tool novice, you might be wondering why you need an impact driver. A regular electronic screwdriver functions on many jobs. If you are installing cabinets, hanging gutters or any other project where you need to drive many screws into the woodwork, an impact driver is much more efficient. Check out this article from Popular Mechanics about the differences between a traditional power screwdriver and an impact driver for a more detailed description.

Looking at the competitors, this exact impact driver including the battery and charger is currently being sold on Amazon.ca for $171.99. Lowes.ca has this same impact driver available without the battery or charger for $129. Canadian Tire is selling this Dewalt impact driver, but only as part of a set with a power drill for $289.99. This is a much hotter deal at Home Depot.

Reviewers seem happy with this impact driver and thrilled that it stands up to home repairs and projects. Here is one happy review:

Hot! DeWalt 18V 1/4 Inch Impact Driver Now $62 & Free Shipping @ Home Depot.ca (Expired)

I would grab this one fast. With the driver already in backorder, it probably will not be long before the deal is gone. Free shipping is also included to sweeten this deal further.

Lowe’s Canada: Up to 75% Off & $10 off $100 Coupon Code

Lowes Canada: Up to 75% Off & $10 off $100 Coupon Code

Lowe’s Canada is offering $10 off orders of $100 or more online. With the clearance section full of deals up to 75% off, this is a nice bonus offer.

Click here to shop @ Lowes.ca now

  • Coupon Code: SS10
  • Discount: $10 off $100
  • Expiry: 11th February 2015

We have seen a coupon of this value once before from Lowe’s Canada, and they also tend to have a 5% off $100 coupon every few months. Out of the two coupons, $10 off $100 is better.

The clearance section at Lowe’s is ripe with deals. I found an excellent sale on bathroom / hallway mirrors that will have you drooling. This Style Selections 30-in H x 24-in W Vancleaf Cherry Rectangular Bathroom Mirror was $99.99, and is now on sale $25. You save $74.99 off the original price. There are many other mirrors on clearance for 75% off right now, but most are out of stock already. However, this Style Selections 34-1/2-in H x 28-1/2-in W Liberton Cocoa Rectangular Bathroom Mirror is also still in stock. Originally $99.99, the mirror is on sale for $25. Unfortunately, neither of these mirrors qualifies for parcel shipping. They either require Lowe’s Truck delivery or you can pick up in store for free. I highly recommend the second option. With the above coupon code, you could purchase four mirrors for $90. Availability depends on your local store.

In the lighting section, I found the Harbor Breeze 52-in Barasway Bay Brushed Nickel Indoor Ceiling Fan with Light Kit and Remote Control on sale. Originally $229, the fan and light combo is on clearance for $179. After coupon code, pay just $169. This fan qualifies for parcel shipping so you will receive free shipping to your home. The last reviewer said:

I really am happy with this fan/light. The remote control is wonderful and it is very quite when fan is on. Easy to install.

Other reviewers thought that the fan’s remote control could be a bit better. Sometimes changing settings required multiple button pushing until the unit responded. One reviewer also thought that the unit hung a bit low, but neither of the other reviewers mentioned that issue.

Shop the entire clearance section to combine discounted prices with the $10 off $100 coupon code from Lowe’s Canada.

There has been a recent change to Lowe’s shipping policy. Lowe’s now offers free parcel shipping on eligible orders of $49 or more. There used to be no minimum to qualify for parcel shipping, but with rising postal costs this was an inevitable move.

Home Depot: Makita Cordless Screwdriver w/ 80-pc Bit Set Only $40 & Free Shipping

Home Depot: Makita Cordless Screwdriver w/ 80 pc Bit Set Only $40 & Free Shipping

Hurry over to Home Depot Canada to pick up this Makita 4.8 Cordless Screwdriver with 80 Piece Bit Set for just $39.97 with free shipping.

While Home Depot does not list the original price of this set, I have done some research. Here is what this set sells for at other retailers:

  • $58.99 @ Shop.ca (OOS)
  • $44.99 + $7.99 shipping @ Elite Tools Canada
  • $50.99 + $20.74 shipping + $4.95 handling @ Black Rock Tools Canada

Elite Tools lists the original price of this set as $89.99 while Black Rock Tools lists the original retail price as $80.99. No matter where I looked, this set was cheapest at Home Depot and the free shipping offer really makes the entire deal shine.

This tool is listed as professional grade and made for serious do it yourself-ers. The screwdriver has a LED job light and an independent on/off switch with forward and reverse modes as well. There is an adjustable hinged handle for getting into hard to reach places or placing screws close to a 90-degree angle. The soft grip handle is comfortable to hold for longer periods of time.

The battery comes built in. One customer wanted to know if the battery is lithium, and he received this response from another customer:

No, it is a built-in Ni-Cad battery that is expensive to replace. I have had mine for close to five years and the battery is pretty well done. Once the battery goes, you throw it out and buy a new one. At that price you can’t go wrong. Good little screwdriver for the money.

That is a pretty good battery to last for five years. I also think you are getting incredible value for your money as you not only get the screwdriver, but also an 80-piece bit set with your purchase. For $39.97 and free shipping, you cannot go wrong.

According to Makita, the set also comes with a charger for the battery. I expected this, but sometimes sets just do not come with everything you need. The handy plastic case will keep the charger, buts, and screwdriver organized and together at all times.

This set is sold online only, and currently ships in five to nine days. I took my cart all the way to where I need to enter my credit card info, and the set is still showing as in stock for me as of this time. However, it could sell out at any time.
