Home Depot Canada: Ryobi 18V Cordless Blower Tool | Was $90 Now $50

Now that we’re still dealing with the fall season, you just might find this deal especially intriguing! At Home Depot, you can now purchase a Ryobi 18V Cordless Blower for only $49.99! This tool currently sells for $89.97 US on Home Depot’s American website, so this is one sweet deal! You can purchase a factory reconditioned version of this Ryobi cordless blower on Amazon’s American website for $59.99 US, but you’d also have to pay for shipping. This deal is only valid online, so you won’t be able to get this deal at any Home Depot locations. However, you’ll also qualify for free shipping when you purchase this Ryobi 18V Cordless Blower, so that’s even better! This is for the tool only – no battery is included.

This is one great deal for those that need this reliable tool. The Ryobi brand is a reliable name for high quality tools, and this 18V Cordless Blower is no exception. It has plenty of great features, including angled nozzle aids that can help you sweep those hard-t0-reach areas. This Ryobi 18V Cordless Blower is also lightweight, so it’s easy to carry and convenient to use.

I’m actually going to send this article to my brother once this is published. Since he has several trees in his backyard, he usually has plenty of leaves to pick up, and there are plenty of hard-to-reach areas behind his tool shed, so this Ryobi 18V Cordless Blower can make his life a little bit easier!

I’ve included a brief review of this Ryobi 18V Cordless Blower from a satisfied Home Depot customer below:

I selected this blower because I have more Ryobi tools and didn’t need a battery or charger. It is a powerful unit. I don’t use it for long periods because my yard is not that large, so battery life is perfect for my use.

This may not be in stock for very long, so check out this deal while it’s still valid. Happy hunting, Bargainmoosers!

Very light item without the battery. Once in the battery balances it better so the back end is not so heavy. Super good suction and easy access to empty the vacuum when full. It is a wet/dry vacuum which you have to love. Also the hose detaches to vacuum in hard to reach places. Super great product, well done!

Amazon Canada: Bosch 12-Volt Max Lithium-Ion 2-Tool Combo Kit Drill/Driver and Impact Driver Set | Was $214 Now $104

Posted by on October 12, 2014 at 9:29 AM

Amazon Canada: Bosch 12 Volt Max Lithium Ion 2 Tool Combo Kit Drill/Driver and Impact Driver Set | Was $214 Now $104

Are you looking for a reliable drill/driver and impact driver? Then today’s deal at Amazon should pique your interest. For a limited time, you can get a Bosch 12-Volt Max Lithium-Ion 2-Tool Combo Kit Drill/Driver and Impact Driver Set (which also includes 2 L-BOXX tool and accessory cases, 2 batteries, and a charger) for $103.35 – the regular price of this set is $214.10, so you’re saving 52%! You’ll also qualify for free shipping! If you’re looking for a great Christmas gift, then this just might be the one to get!

According to the description, this will ship from Amazon within 1 to 2 months, but I personally never had any issues with Amazon shipments. There would be times where certain items were supposedly going to arrive in “2 to 3 weeks”, but I ended up receiving them after 1 week. Either way, just keep this in mind before placing your order.

This Bosch 12-Volt Max Lithium-Ion 2-Tool Combo Kit Drill/Driver and Impact Driver Set has ergonomic grip design, 12 volts of power, and it comes with a 1 year warranty. You can learn more about these tools by clicking here.

Bosch is a reliable brand, so this is a nice deal – especially since you’re able to get 52% off the regular price! I’ve seen this set reduced in price before, but they’re either out of stock at the moment, or are no longer on sale at the moment. If you missed the chance to pick up this Bosch 12-Volt Max Lithium-Ion 2-Tool Combo Kit Drill/Driver and Impact Driver Set for a good price before, this is a great opportunity to pick this up!

If you wanted to purchase this Bosch 12-Volt Max Lithium-Ion 2-Tool Combo Kit Drill/Driver and Impact Driver Set from Lowes in the US, it would cost you $169 US, and it’s currently on sale for $149.99 US at CPO Tools. Listed below is a brief review of these tools from a satisfied Amazon customer:

These 12v tools are light and compact and capable of tackling 90% of most jobs (would recommend 18v for decks and fence installs). The L-BOXXs make it easy to haul in and out of job sites as they stack and click nicely. At this price point, I should of bought two.

Get this while the deal is still valid, folks! I hope you all enjoy your Thanksgiving weekend!

I will sometimes have to use a soldering iron, since my brother and I own several coin operated arcade and pinball machines. Some of these older machines simply break down or have issues, so I will sometimes have to replace certain parts. A soldering iron is an important tool during this process, and yes – my soldering iron has a cord.

I’m going to actually end up purchasing this 15W Cordless Soldering Iron from The Source once I publish this article, since it’s incredibly affordable, and it’s cordless, so I can solder wires without being restricted by a cord (I usually have to use an extension cord when I’m working on these machines).

Other 15W cordless soldering irons on Amazon typically cost $15.57 (plus shipping). I’ve included a snippet of a review of this 15W Cordless Soldering Iron from a satisfied The Source customer below:

I install car stereos as a profitable hobby. This little puppy is fantastic for soldering speaker wires. It’s a real pain to get a corded iron in some tight spots, this works wonderfully.

Lowes Canada: Mega Tool Event

Posted by on September 26, 2014 at 10:00 AM

Lowes Canada: Mega Tool Event

Need some tools? You’ve come to the right place! Lowes has up to 40% off tools during their mega tool event happening right now.

The other day my husband and I gave away a couch on kijiji and these dudes came to pick it up. We had to take off a door for them to get it out and the dudes took the door off, got their couch and left and didn’t help to get the door back on. I have a word for people like this but I won’t say it here, but it does start with D! Anyway, I had to help my husband get the door back on and I got to use the electric drill. It was fun! I would never, ever call myself handy. I would be lost without my husband as I only know how to work a hammer, but I could really get into this using tools thing.

My husband loves tools and this sale would make him giddy. He does a lot of woodworking so this Dewalt 15 amp 10-inch compact job site table saw with site-pro modular guarding system is probably something he’d like to see in his workshop. It was $449 and now $329. Shopping around, I didn’t find it as much as the regular price, but no stores had it as low as Lowes.

If hand tools are what you need, you’ll get 25% off all Bostitch hand tools during this sale. Dewalt air tools are 15% off and there are a number of promo codes that will get you free accessories with your purchases. For example, with the purchase of the Dewalt 20-volt Max XR lithium brushless framing pneumatic nailer, you’ll get a free Dewalt 20-volt Max premium lithium ion cordless tool battery worth $129 with promo code FREEBATTERY.

There are lots of other items on sale, so you might want to check for yourself what you might need. As always, do your research and price compare as even sale prices aren’t always the lowest prices around.

If your item can be shipped by parcel, shipping is always free.

Lowe’s Canada Freebie: Free Battery (Up To $130 Value) With Purchase Of Select Cordless Combo Kits & Tools

Posted by on September 15, 2014 at 8:00 AM

Lowes Canada Freebie: Free Battery (Up To $130 Value) With Purchase Of Select Cordless Combo Kits & Tools

Are you ready for a major freebie? The “Free Battery Cordless Tool Event” is currently on at Lowe’s and you guessed it… you can get a free battery with any cordless combo kits and select tools! Plus, shipping is also sure to be free for all off these! Keep reading to find out more. Lowes Canada Freebie: Free Battery (Up To $130 Value) With Purchase Of Select Cordless Combo Kits & Tools

During this event, you can either get a free battery with purchase of any DeWalt or Porter Cable cordless combo kit or with purchase of select Hitachi, Bosh and Kobalt tools. To make it easier for you, I have broken it down into the kind of savings you can expect to see when you get:

DeWALT

  • $249 20V max lithium ion compact drill/ driver & impact driver combo kit: free $89.99 value battery
  • $169 12/20V max charger radio: free $89.99 value battery
  • $229 18V cordless compact drill/ impact driver combo kit: free $129 value battery
  • $499 18V worksite charger/ radio: free $129 value battery
  • + free battery with any cordless combo kit

Porter-Cable

  • $169 20V max li-ion drill-driver and impact driver combo kit: free $79.99 value battery
  • $269 4-tool 20V li-ion cordless combo kit: free $79.99 value battery
  • + free battery with any cordless combo kit

Bosh

  • $199 2-tool 18V li-ion drill-driver cordless combo kit: free $89.99 value battery
  • $249 18V 1/2-in cordless variable speed brushless impact driver with soft case: free $89.99 value battery

Kobalt

  • $179 4-tool 18V motor li-ion cordless combo kit: free $59.99 value battery

Hitachi

  • $249 1/2-in 18V variable speed cordless hammer drill: free $119 value battery
  • $259 3-tool 18V li-ion cordless combo kit: free $79.99 value battery

Keep in mind that all of the initial prices that you see are those for the combo kit or tools in question and these are actually all on sale as well.

Given that Dewalt is widely considered as being one of the best brands in the field of repairs and construction, I searched for the very first combo kit on the list above, the Dewalt 20V max lithium ion compact drill/ driver & impact driver combo kit. Lowe’s has it on sale for $249, down from the original retail price of $299. To be fair, Amazon.ca actually has it slightly cheaper for just $241.22 but it’s the fact that Lowe’s throws in a free battery that makes it all worth it. For anyone who frequently uses their cordless drill, an extra battery can certainly make all the difference. Heck, even for a personal project, it can make all the difference as there is nothing worse than setting out to either start or complete a project only to be stalled by a dead battery!

Moosers, between all of the brands listed above, what is your favourite? Share with us in the comments section!

eBay Canada: WORX TRIVAC 3-in-1 Blower Now $69.99 & Free Shipping

Posted by on September 10, 2014 at 10:30 PM

eBay Canada: WORX TRIVAC 3 in 1 Blower Now $69.99 & Free Shipping

I found this cool deal on a handy tool to have around the yard. Pick up the WORX TRIVAC 3-in-1 Blower/Mulcher/Vacuum for just $69.99 with free shipping at eBay Canada.

This product ships from within Canada so there are no duties to worry about. With free shipping, all you pay for is the tool and applicable taxes. I price compared this tool as best I could to make sure you are getting a good deal. The Worx Trivac at The Tool Store Canada costs $129.99. I also found it at Amazon.com for $89.99, and you would have to pay for shipping to Canada and duties on top of that (if it shipped to Canada, which it does not). I think the deal on eBay is pretty fair.

This is a lightweight and compact blower, mulcher, and vacuum. It will not take up much space in the garage and its multi-purpose design will ensure that it is regularly used around the place. Use the blower to clean off the driveway and blow leaves into a pile in your yard. The mulcher will turn those leaves into more manageable sizes for turning into compost or disposing of. The vacuum will help you clean out the garage and you can even use it in your car.

Features:

  • blow away debris at 210 mph
  • vacuuming at up to 14 gallons per minute
  • powerful 12 amp motor
  • 7-speed blower control
  • Angled nose makes it easier to reach
  • runs quiet

It comes with a bag for collecting what you have sucked up and a two-piece tube attachment (not sure what that is for). Switching from one job to another occurs at just the flick of a switch. The tool is covered by a two-year warranty as well and the eBay seller is the manufacturer themselves so you should have no problems with claiming warranty.

Over 100 of these have already sold on eBay and I have no idea how many are left so try to buy yours sooner rather than later.

I think this is a pretty cool device and I would love to get one for my parents. They have a double lot to keep clean, and I know that the Worx Trivac would be very useful for tidying up the yard and my Dad’s garage. He might even vacuum out his truck for once – that would be a novelty!

Depending on where you live, the coupon will save you different amounts.  Alberta and Saskatchewan residents will save 10% on their orders, and  Ontario and  British Columbia residents will save 11.5% on their orders.  This is not bad at all considering that the tax in Alberta is only 5%.  That means you are actually saving DOUBLE the tax!

They also have dimmers, light switches and wall plates all on sale at 10% off the regular prices right now.  I know personally, I make fall and winter my times to update a bit because we are stuck inside with the cold weather.  Sales like these and coupons like this one that will save you the tax make is far more affordable to invest in my house.

Shipping depends on the item, but Lowes offers free parcel shipping with no minimum purchase. So, if your item can ship by parcel shipping, you pay no extra costs. Additionally, when you order online, you can pick up your order as fast as just one hour at your local store.  That is pretty amazing!

This Lowes Canada coupon will be posted up on the Bargainmoose coupon forum for easy online shopping. There is also another one posted up on the forum right now that could save you some money as well.  Your best best bet is to try them both out and see which one saves you the most money.

Kobalt Sliding Compound Miter Saw Was $150 Now $100 (Potentially $90) @ Lowes.ca & Free Shipping

Posted by on August 30, 2014 at 12:00 PM

Kobalt Sliding Compound Miter Saw Was $150 Now $100 (Potentially $90) @ Lowes.ca & Free Shipping

This weekend, there’s a bit of a deal on this Kobalt 7 1/4-in 9-Amp Sliding Compound Miter Saw with Laser Guide, online @ Lowes Canada. Originally priced at $149, it’s now only $99, and that’s with free shipping too.

If you’ve never before shopped at Lowes.ca online, then you can make the above price even better. Sign up to the email newsletter there and they will email you a $10 coupon code for a $50 spend.  You need to use that coupon code within a week and it should work on the above Kobalt saw.

In case you were not aware, Kobalt is Lowes own brand of tools, so it’s not really possible for me to price compare this exact model at any other Canadian online stores. I can show you similar branded items though, such as this Makita which is $550 on Amazon.ca! Another Makita is $712 here on BlackRockTools. There’s a cheaper Ryobi for $141 here on HomeDepot, that’s probably more along the lines of this Kobalt model.

Obviously for this price, you’re not going to get a heavy duty machine capable of working day in, day out, on construction sites… but for basic home DIY use, this might do the job. It’s a 7 and a quarter inch blade, so it’s not a huge saw for any large cutting jobs. You can get miter saws with larger blade capabilities, but obviously you’d be paying more for bigger and better models.

There are 96 reviews on this particular saw on the Lowes website, with exactly half of them giving this Kobalt miter saw a 5 star rating. The top review from Chris states this:

I built a deck this summer and solely used this saw for it. It had no issues cutting 4x4s, 2x6s and deck boards.

That sounds ideal! I would love my partner to build us a deck in the garden. If only…

On the whole, the reviews on this particular unit are very positive, and it seems ideal for home use… regardless if it looks like something out of Robot Wars.

Powerfist 24V Cordless Impact Wrench Only $24 @ Princess Auto Canada (+Shipping) – now expired!

Posted by on August 9, 2014 at 9:53 AM

Powerfist 24V Cordless Impact Wrench Only $24 @ Princess Auto Canada (+Shipping) now expired!

Powerfist. POWERFIST! What a powerful brand name! That’s the brand of this cordless impact wrench from Princess Auto, which I think is rather a good price. Originally $92.43, there’s $40.40 of a discount, bringing it down to only $52.03.

(UPDATE – the deal expired fast!)

I’m going to show you a bit of info for you as to what you get with this power tool and some of the features:

  • Includes one hour quick charger
  • Comes with a high capacity 1,700 mAH Ni-Cd battery pack
  • 2900 impacts per minute
  • 280 ft-lbs of maximum torque

I personally don’t have a whole wealth of knowledge on this type of tool, so I asked my partner about it. Here are his words:

You know the way a screwdriver goes bzzzzzzzzz… a screwdriver has a normal electric motor which turns. An impact wrench actually uses a hammer action so that it is knocking the screw round in incremental little jumps. It is far more effective and far more powerful especially for high torque environments. But ah… ear plugs are essential, not optional. 24V is high voltage… I’d like one. But they’re incredibly loud.

Well, there you go!

Price Comparison

While I cannot price compare this exact cordless impact wrench elsewhere as it is Princess Auto’s own brand, I can show you some prices of similar devices from other stores and brands.

On Home Depot, I found similar cordless impact wrenches from $79, they were Makita – but that price was for the tool only, without the rechargeable battery. On Amazon.ca, there are Dewalt ones from $65 to $100, but again they didn’t have batteries included in the price. So we can see that this price from Princess Auto is really good considering it comes with the battery included. Please understand that I am just comparing like for like here, it’s a general overview of a similarly specced tool.

Canadian Shipping

Shipping depends on where you live, but when I was doing a test order, it showed at $12. That’s a bit steep, but it’s a good base price on the cordless impact wrench itself, so it could be worth it.

There aren’t many in stock, this deal may not last for long!

Amazon Canada: 47% Off Black & Decker 20V Drill – Just $52

Posted by on July 31, 2014 at 6:00 PM

Amazon Canada: 47% Off Black & Decker 20V Drill Just $52

Ready, set, drill away with Amazon’s awesome deal: get the Black & Decker SSL20SC 20V drill for just $52.56, which is 47% off its original price of $99.99. Plus, since Amazon typically ships orders over $25 for free, you will get this drill without any additional shipping charges.

When it comes to drills, Black & Decker are definitely one of the most popular ones out there because of their durability and power. This one features a lithium-ion battery, which means that you can charge it once and then leave it lying around anywhere else (or better yet, stowed away in the closet) until the next time you need it without worrying that the battery will lose its charge from not being used. In fact, according to Amazon’s description, the battery can hold a charge up to 18 months, which is pretty incredible!

It also has a slew of great reviews like this one:

Received this drill as scheduled. It has good balance, easy to control and very versatile. It has lots of power when needed and the preset torque settings are quite accurate (they are indicated by screw and bit size in pictures, rather than just numbered settings). 20 volts is a nice number for power and the lithium ion battery is small, light and installed easily.

At 20 volts, it’s also one of the highest voltages you can get on a drill. I had a look on Home Depot’s website and the only other cordless I found for close to the same price as Amazon’s deal is the Ryobi 18V, and although it comes with the drill kit, it has less voltage than the Black & Decker one. I have also been told that going with lesser known brands when it comes to cordless drills isn’t recommended at all. Although it depends on everyone’s preferences, Dewalt tends to be the most favoured because of its power but if you only plan on doing odd fixing jobs around the house here and there, then this Black & Decker drill is sure to fit the bill.

In fact, a friend of mine used his Black & Decker one on a regular basis and after more than ten years, it still continues to serve him well. The only other 20V I found at Home Depot is the Makita cordless compact drill, currently on sale for $169 (reg. $199).

This drill can go back to its original price at any time as no expiry has been given for it, so be sure to take advantage of it ASAP if you’re in need of a drill.

Home Depot Canada: RYOBI ONE+ 5 In. Random Orbit Sander (18V) only $12

Posted by on July 3, 2014 at 10:00 AM

Home Depot Canada: RYOBI ONE+ 5 In. Random Orbit Sander (18V) only $12

If you or your husband have recently discovered the wonder of the RYOBI ONE+ line of tools then you may want to check out this RYOBI ONE+ 5 In. Random Orbit Sander for only $12!

We recently inherited a RYOBI ONE+ grass trimmer and blower and although we knew about this line of tools we never really considered investing in them.  Mainly because we own a gas powered trimmer and my husband has always leaned towards DeWalt tools.

However, with our recent acquisition we have decided to sell the gas powered trimmer for three reasons: it’s overkill for the size of property we have, it’s very loud and heavy.  Plus, with a lighter battery operated one I can take over the trim work and frankly I am ok with that.

Although my husband never considered the RYOBI ONE+ line before, he has been doing more and more research on the different tools and accessories they offer, because any Ryobi 18V Tool fits any Ryobi 18V battery and that means less clutter on his work table.

Now my husband may end up using this tool, but this one is really for me. I like to find old furniture and refinish it. I know to some of you that may sound like a huge undertaking and a few years ago I would have agreed. However, I discovered the wonders of chalk paint and it opened up a whole new world for me! Although you don’t have to strip or prep the furniture before using chalk paint, I like to distress my projects and this orbit sander could really come in handy with some of the larger pieces.

Home Depot Canada: Makita 3 Pocket Pouch Only $16 + Free Shipping (Was $35)

Home Depot Canada: Makita 3 Pocket Pouch Only $16 + Free Shipping (Was $35)

Pick up this handy Makita Three Pocket Fixings Pouch from The Home Depot Canada for only $15.95 with free shipping, originally $34.95.

This three-pocket pouch is perfect for both professions and those doing upkeep around the house. The three deep pockets fit nails, screws, bolts, fasteners, fixings, and miscellaneous tools like small measuring tapes or a pencil and eraser. The material on these pouches is super thick: it is made to stand the wear and tear of professional use and will most certainly stand up to the test of time.

The belt also features two long tool slots that fit screwdrivers, hammers, knives, pliers and other hand tools. There is a metal clip, which accepts standard size tape measures. This case has a bonus feature i am not use to on these pouches: a rubber handle for ease of transportation. Now, usually you would just slip this pouch system onto your belt and away you go. However, if you don’t want to carry this pouch with you at all times, then the carrying handle is lets you easily transport the pouch with you without needing to attach it to your belt.

This tool belt/pouch system will fit on most standard sized belts. I suggest a good thick leather belt that can handle the weight of whatever you load your belt up with. My father is a journeyman carpenter so I am very familiar with these pouches; I have even worn one myself.

The pouch has a great review from one happy customer:

My husband has had his Makita work belt for over 5 years and has only had to replace the pockets twice in that time. He has mentioned over and over again that this pocket is amazing and hopes they will still be available the next time they need to be replaced.

Even if you are not a carpenter, these pouches are very useful. If you are doing odd jobs around the house or hanging pictures, you can have your tape measure, your hammer, and your nails all within arm’s reach without having to search for where you put one of them down. Usually I dump an eraser and pencil into one of the pouches for marking my distances. This could also be used as a gardening pouch: a couple hand tools can go into the tool slots and seeds can go in your pouches.

Right now Home Depot is offering free shipping on most items that weight under 100 lbs and this pouch qualifies.

Mastercraft 14” Aggressive HandSaw only $3 In-Store @ Canadian Tire!

Mastercraft 14” Aggressive HandSaw only $3 In Store @ Canadian Tire!

Tools! Pointy tools! Pointy spiky tools! Pointy spiky aggressive tools!

There’s a deal on in-store at Canadian Tire just now, for this Mastercraft 14” Aggressive HandSaw. It’s been reduced by 75% from $12.19, down to only $3! That’s very inexpensive indeed, especially for a big brand name.

In the past, I’ve noticed this particular saw for $3.99, but never as low as the $3 mark.

On the Canadian Tire site above, you can use their online stock checker to see if there are any of these Mastercraft saws available at a location near to your home. Now, it’s probably not worth driving to your local Canadian Tire just to get a three dollar saw, but it might be an excuse to make the trip if you had a plan to do so anyway.

I had a quick scan of the reviews on the Canadian Tire website and they seem positive, as you might imagine. With an overall rating of 4.6 out of 5, with such comments as:

Does an excellent job -ripping though the cut with fast work. Great tool!

Here are a few points about this saw:

  • Ergonomic  2 component soft-grip & non-slip handle
  • Ideal for a fast cut
  • Blade coated with water-based lacquer providing rust protection

Apparently this Mastercraft saw has “Aggressive toothing,” I have no idea what this means.  I did have to google, and all I could find were articles about aggressive puppies… not quite what I was searching for. If you know what that means, tell me in the comment below!

My other half has a growing collection of saws in the man-cave/garage… so I’m definitely not going to tell him about the deal on this one. I am not sure why he needs quite so many saws in his collection. I understand that there are different saws for different jobs, but surely you can try and make do with the tools that you have, without resorting to buying a new saw for each and every new job to be undertaken. Unless the saws are magically reproducing of their own accord…

P.S. The image I have used above is not the exact image of this particular Mastercraft saw, but a stock image from elsewhere. The one on the left illustrates a “man sawing a branch with zeal.” That caption made me chuckle!
