Tim Hortons Prices Going Up

Tim Hortons Prices Going Up

Sad news Moosers, if your morning routine consists of a quick run to your local Tim Hortons for a caffeine fix, keep in mind that prices are going up next week by $0.10. Accordting to CTV News, Tim Hortons will raise prices as soon as next Wednesday, on November 26th 2014.

Although the rise in price will largely vary per region, prices of all coffee sizes and breakfast sandwiches will be increased by roughly $0.10 as early as next week.

According to many reports, this price hike wasn’t supposed to hit us for another couple of months. It is curious that it would happen as soon as next week considering the oncoming winter months. I’m sure it’s no coincidence that it’s happening exactly two days before Black Friday. Speaking of which, be sure to check out the Bargainmoose Black Friday dashboard for an up-to-date list of all the Black Friday deals, some of which have already started. More will be added in the upcoming days.

It is also interesting that the price hike is happening right as shoppers as ramping up their spending in preparation for the holidays. We all know how great it is to grab a coffee while either window shopping or buying presents for friends and family.

And don’t forget all of the very recent marketing strategies surrounding the Tim Hortons renovations to turn it into a more upscale place, the new dark roast and not to mention the CIBC Double Double credit card. I’m sure it’s no coincidence that the price hike is being implemented so soon after all of these new features.

Personally, I tend to get quite a few coffees at Tim Hortons, especially when I’m running errands. I agree that it’s somewhat watered down, compared to a coffee you might make at home or even get at Starbucks, but I have to admit that I have grown addicted to the taste. However, this price hike will actually be deterring me from spending as much as I normally would for the convenience of a coffee on the go and I plan on making better use of my tumbler when out and about.

Moosers, how do you feel about the Tim Hortons price hike? Will it deter you from spending on a drink or sandwich?

Tim Hortons: Small Dark Roast Coffee for $1

Posted by on September 21, 2014 at 1:00 PM

Tim Hortons: Small Dark Roast Coffee for $1

Starting tomorrow, Tim Hortons Canada is making it even more affordable to start your morning off the right way with a small coffee deal.  Head to your local Tim Hortons to get their new dark roast coffee for just $1 plus tax for a limited time only.

Every location across Canada will have this $1 deal for the new dark roast coffee in size small until September 29th.  It is pretty good considering you can’t get much for just a dollar these days.

I know a lot of people may say that they prefer a huge large cup of coffee versus a small size, but the sizes of the cups are pretty deceiving.  The small is hardly any smaller than their medium size.

Here is how they describe the new dark roast coffee:

The new dark roast coffee is made from a premium blend of 100% Arabica beans, expertly roasted with care. Get into the dark with its rich, delicious taste and full flavour.

Now I am not an avid coffee drinker as I really prefer tea, but my husband is.  If he doesn’t get his coffee fix a few times a day he turns into a bear! He has a Tim Hortons near his work and heads there multiple times a week to get his coffee fix sometimes a couple of times a day. Every time he buys one, it can really add up so getting his coffee for just $1, even for a few days is a nice little savings for our pockets. This is also a great price to be a hero at work and grab some great tasting coffee that is affordable.

While you are there, you can grab something from their food menu as well.  Although Tim Hortons has amazing doughnuts, they have a full menu with great selections for breakfast, lunch and snacks to fill your appetite.  One of my favourites is their grilled cheese panini sandwiches for lunch.  It sounds basic because it’s a grilled cheese but it is absolutely delicious.

Tim Hortons @ Buytopia.ca: $3 For a $5 Gift Card

Tim Hortons @ Buytopia.ca: $3 For a $5 Gift Card

Quick post here! I got a mysterious email from Buytopia last night, stating that there was going to be a super deal today. There was a picture of a steaming cup of Tim Horton’s coffee, so my hopes were high for a great deal from this national chain.  The deal has just gone live as I write this – you can get  a $5 gift card for only $3.

Buytopia have 10,000 of these Tim Horton’s gift cards available, and I think they will sell out fairly soon. You can buy 1 per person per billing address… so you obviously cannot stock up on a TON of these to use in the future. The gift cards will be mailed out to you, and they don’t have an expiry date, so you can use them any time!

Tim Hortons Double Double Visa Credit Card Now Available With CIBC!

Posted by on July 2, 2014 at 7:00 PM

Tim Hortons Double Double Visa Credit Card Now Available With CIBC!

Following a partnership with Tim Hortons, CIBC now has the Tim Hortons Double Double Visa card available!

Considering how addicted most of us Canucks are to Tim’s, this new partnership is bound to make many happy! The Tim Hortons Double Double features a 1% cash back, which means that you will get 1% of the total you spend back in the form of Tim Hortons dollars. This basically amount to $1 back for every $100 spent.

But the real excitement comes in the form of new technology used in the card as it has two buttons on it: one for the Visa card and one for the Tim’s card, each of which need to be pushed depending on the purchase you’re about to make. If you’re at a Tim Hortons store and wish to redeem the money you have earned, then you simply push the “Tim’s” button and if you’re at any other store, then you push the “VISA” button. In either case, a light will come on to show which part of the card you’re using. The Tim’s card may also be reloaded in any regular fashion, whether online or in person at a Tim Hortons store.

Other perks of the Tim Hortons Double Double card include:

  • $20 welcome bonus once $200 worth of purchases are made on the Visa card
  • 50 free Timbits with every 50 Visa purchases
  • 1 free baked good when 5 purchases are made on the Tim card and 5 purchases on the Visa card per month

With zero annual fees, it has an interest rate of 19.99% on purchases and 21.99% for cash.

For any frequent visitor of Tim Hortons, this should definitely be a very enticing offer, especially given the convenience of having a Tim’s and a credit card in one.

How often do you visit a Tim’s and is this a credit card you would like to have?

Free Swimming This Summer From Tim Hortons

Free Swimming This Summer From Tim Hortons

I love all the different charity work that Tim Hortons does and this time they are offering a freebie for young and old.  During March break they offered free skating and this summer is something that will cool you off as well. For the months of July and August, Tim Hortons has paired with some Canadian pools and is offering free public swimming!

The lucky provinces for this deal are Ontario and Alberta.  In Alberta the free swim is actually starting early and is being offered this week as well on June 27th, which is a nice little bonus.  The time for the free swimming will vary for each different location so make sure to check the participating pools before you head in for your free swim.

There is no coupon to get this deal you just have to show up at the free swim times.  You can go in as many times as you would like and there is no age limit for these free swims.  It is perfect to pass the time as a family and get some exercise in the process because your entire family will be free!

Keep your eyes peeled for more free deals like this one from Tim Hortons because they seem to do one per season.

The fact that Tim Hortons is sponsoring this free summer swim schedule is just one more reason they are a great company!

Tim Hortons Canada Kids Camp Day June 4th: 100% Of Coffee Proceeds Donated To Children’s Foundation

Posted by on June 1, 2014 at 11:30 AM

Tim Hortons Canada Kids Camp Day June 4th: 100% Of Coffee Proceeds Donated To Childrens Foundation

Being a former teacher and having kids myself, kid’s charities are very near and dear to my heart.  I love it when a company steps up and does something great for kids.  Tim Hortons is one of those companies.  On Wednesday June 4th, head into your local Tim Hortons and make sure to buy a coffee.  All proceeds from the coffee will be donated to the Tim Hortons Children’s Foundation that day.

In honour of this charity, they are calling June 4th Camp Day. Basically, all day long from open to close, when you buy a coffee at Tim Hortons in any size, every penny of the sale will go to the Tim Hortons Children’s Foundation.  The funds raised on Camp Day will help to send over 17,000 children to camp this year.

There are so many economically disadvantaged kids that would normally never get the opportunity to go to camp in the summer simply because their family could never afford it.  This charity makes sure those kids get to go for free.

This year, the camp kids will be playing Capture The Flag, which is so much fun.  I actually would play it as an adult!

Camp Day in 2013 was a huge success, raising an incredible $11.8 million for the Tim Hortons Children’s Foundation. It would be great to surpass last year’s success and send even more kids this year!

Additionally, you can make a donation if you feel inclined to.  If you are getting a coffee in the morning anyway, make sure it is at Tim Hortons on June 4th.  Your coffee could make a difference in a child’s life!

Tim Hortons Canada: Free Birthday Cake Donut May 17th Only

Tim Hortons Canada: Free Birthday Cake Donut May 17th Only

I can’t believe that Tim Hortons Canada is celebrating their 50th birthday this year, and they are giving all of us a present.  Tomorrow only on May 17th, you can get a free birthday cake donut at your local Tim Hortons.

This birthday cake flavoured donut has already been released in the US and has been a huge hit.  They are waiting in Canada until tomorrow to let us enjoy it.  My mouth is watering just thinking about this new flavour and I am not even a huge donut fan!

There will be a limit of one birthday cake donut for free for every single customer tomorrow only. You can go in anytime tomorrow at a participating location to get this delicious freebie.  You don’t even need to purchase anything else to get it but let’s face it, who has ever gone to Tim Hortons for just a single donut? While you are there, why not try their new vanilla iced coffee for the low price of just $1?

I have no idea if this donut will be a new flavour on the menu or if they are just offering it tomorrow as a celebration of 50 years in service, so if you would like to try it, better be safe than sorry, and get one tomorrow.

Tim Hortons Canada: Free Hashbrown with Breakfast Purchase

Who doesn’t love to get a freebie bright and early in the morning!  This weekend,Tim Hortons has a pretty great deal happening at breakfast.  When you head in for breakfast and get a coffee and any breakfast sandwich, you will get a free hash brown with your order.

Now the deal say you can get the free hash brown with any breakfast sandwich and any coffee but you can get any drink hot or cold and still get the deal.  This is great for me because I am not a coffee drinker.  Additionally you can choose any of their breakfast sandwiches.

This free hash brown will be available all weekend from 5am until 12pm until March 2nd at participating Tim Hortons locations.

I have had their hash-browns before and they are so crunchy and delicious!  This deal is available both at the drive thru and if you head inside the store but you can only get one per customer.  I there is more than one person, I suggest you head inside so you can each get one instead of just one at the drive thru.

Tim Hortons Canada: Free Skates In Your Neighbourhood

Posted by on December 19, 2013 at 2:00 PM

Tim Hortons Canada: Free Skates In Your Neighbourhood

Every year, Tim Hortons sponsors some free skates in neighbourhoods around Canada. This year is no different and they have released their list of when and where the free skates will be in your community.

Skating truly is a Canadian sport. There are two things my children have to do (besides school), and this is learn to swim and learn to skate. I remember going skating many evenings with my dad at the local outdoor skating rink. Those are really good memories. Two of my three children have already learned to skate and my third will this winter and then the entire family is going to get out there in the fresh air and skate on a regular basis.

Outdoor rinks are usually free, so the Tim Hortons skates are mostly at indoor arenas and community centres. The great thing about this is that it doesn’t matter if the weather is -20 or +20, you can still skate. Plus, you don’t have the wind or precipitation either. Each community has about three  (or more) dates for free skates, so if you can’t make one, you have other choices.

Shoppers Drug Mart Canada: $10 SDM Card & $10 Tim Hortons Card With $75+ Purchase

This morning, head on into a Shoppers Drug Mart, spend $75 and you’ll get a $10 Shoppers Drug Mart card, plus a $10 Tim Hortons card, just for shopping there.

There is just something deeply satisfying about getting free stuff for buying what you were planning on buying anyway. What I like about this deal is that both gift cards are perfect to keep, or give as gifts for someone you want to show appreciation to. I love giving teachers gift cards, because then they can choose what they want to do with them (even re-gift), and Tim Hortons is my tried and true gift because I think almost every single Canadian goes to Tim Hortons. It is just a matter of pride.

When my sons were babies, they knew how to say Tim Hortons before a lot of other words! My middle son loves Timmies so much he wants to be a “chef” there. Today he had to get some blood work taken and the only way I could get him to stop screaming was promising a trip to Tim Hortons. These cards would come in handy in my glove compartment for emergencies such as these.

You have today or tomorrow to pick up your gift cards, and there are some exclusions (explained on the deal page).

Tim Hortons Canada: $1 Cookies & All Proceeds go to Charity

Tim Hortons Canada: $1 Cookies & All Proceeds go to Charity

A great deal is back on at Tim Hortons stores across Canada and by getting it, you can actually help others.  This week only, Tim Hortons has $1 smile cookies for sale and the proceeds will all go to various Tim Hortons charities in your community.

Each Smile cookie is just $1 and the entire dollar will go to charity, which is very rare for a company to do.

This charity event first started to help raise funds for the Hamilton Children’s Hospital in Ontario back in 1996, but has since grown into a major fundraising event across North America. I love that Tim Hortons does this and I go in every year with my kids to grab our cookies.

As for which charity your donation goes to, all you have to do is click on their map and it will tell you exactly where your money will go to.  I live in Calgary Alberta and all Calgary donations will be going to the Calgary Health Trust – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. This is very close to my heart since my son was a preemie and was actually there when he was born.
