The Source: Sony SRSX7 Wireless Wi-fi Speaker (Refurb) Only $130 & Free Shipping (EXPIRED)

Posted by on July 14, 2015 at 9:30 PM

The Source: Sony SRSX7 Wireless Wi fi Speaker (Refurb) Only $130 & Free Shipping (EXPIRED)

The Source Canada has an excellent deal on a refurbished Sony SRS-X7 wireless speaker with Wi-Fi. Originally $199.99 for the refurbished model, the speaker is now on sale for $129.98 with free shipping.

Now, that $70 discount may not seem so much but there is a missing piece to this puzzle. As I specified above… the $199.99 is the original price for the refurbished model – NOT for the actual speaker itself. You can score a $300 speaker system for only $130 with this deal! Let me show you the retail price for this unit elsewhere:

Cost of non-refurbished model at other online retailers:

  • $219.99 @ Dell Canada
  • $299.99 @ The Source Canada
  • $301.36 @ Amazon Canada
  • $299.99 @ Sony Store Canada
  • $299 @ NCIX.com (OOS)

When Best Buy sold this unit, it went on sale a few times but never dipped below the $200 range in my memory. I have been pretty aware of price fluctuations in this unit as I wanted to buy it for ages. However, I wanted a unit for $200 or less and this model never dropped that low. I ended up buying the Sony SRSX5 – the middle child of this series. I am quite pleased with my speaker but the big boy does sound better.

Things I really like:

  • About a six hour battery once you unplug it from the cord
  • Great size and sleek appearance
  • This baby brings the base – my speaker literally vibrates
  • This unit is heavy – it does not easily fall over and it is not for transporting in a back pack.

This is an excellent house unit that can be unplugged and moved from room to room while running on battery. The sleek appearance really sold me on this unit as well as the good sound. The only one better would be a Bose unit. The SRSX7 model can connect to your Wi-Fi for sharing the speaker between devices. It will also connect via Bluetooth and aux cable. You can use the speaker for call conferencing – which is cool. One reviewer on Sony said:

Had this unit a month now and you cannot go wrong with this one playing in your home. Even at very low volume the bass still sounds good without pounding the speakers. It has a lot of wireless ways to connect to it to make this very portable to use around the house or outside

I have my Sony SRSX5 (the smaller model) paired with both my cell phone and my computer. While I cannot figure out how to get Skype conversations to go across the speaker (computer’s fault I am sure), I love listening to my music on the external speaker.

Given that this speaker retails for around $300, spending $130 on a refurbished model is such a sweet offer!

The Source: Nexxtech 6-outlet Surge Protector Was $15 | Now $4.88 & Free Shipping

Posted by on July 9, 2015 at 2:00 PM

The Source: Nexxtech 6 outlet Surge Protector Was $15 | Now $4.88 & Free Shipping

I am always on the lookout for inexpensive technology that we use in our daily lives. Few things are more basic to a household these days than a surge protector. We use them to keep our televisions, Blu-ray players, computers, portable technology, and more all safe from electrical surges. Originally $14.99, this Nexxtech 6-outlet Surge Protector is on sale for $4.88. Use coupon code TS499 to have this surge protector shipped to your door for free.

The real deliciousness of this deal comes from the combination of the price and that free shipping coupon. Seriously, I have not seen a surge protector cheaper than this! The last time I saw a good deal on a surge protector was this Belkin unit for $6.99. However, Nexxtech’s surge protector is already better as it comes with the shut off button – kill switch – at the top (Belkin’s didn’t). Even better, the Nexxtech unit is cheaper.

You might encounter power bars and think they are the same as surge protectors but there is a difference. A simple power bar just provides more outlets whereas a surge protector actually protects your electronics.

This surge protector is perfect for any room that needs extra outlets. The bar has room for six grounded plugs with 245 joules of surge protection. The surge protector can handle 4500 maximum spike current with 6000V maximum surge voltage. There is a one-second clamping response time. The surge protector comes with a 3-foot long cord for a little extra leeway from the wall outlet.

I like this bar and I love the price! Even more importantly, this little accessory comes with free shipping. I do think that the kill switch really makes this unit perfect. You can save a lot of money by using the switch to turn off power to your electronics. Electronics are always drawing power – as long as they are plugged in. Instead of unplugging all your devices, you can just shut off power using the kill switch on the surge protector. Over the year, you will save many dollars in electricity charges from electronic leaches.

While this deal is on for a bit, I expect it to sell out sooner than that as hot deals like this do not come around every day.

The Source: Refurbished Apple iPod Nano 7th Gen (16 GB) Was $140 | Now $99.98 & Free Shipping (EXPIRED)

The Source: Refurbished Apple iPod Nano 7th Gen (16 GB) Was $140 | Now $99.98 & Free Shipping (EXPIRED)

Edit: ALL ITEMS SOLD OUT!

The Source Canada has some very hot deals in their refurbished sale. One of the hottest, in my opinion, is the iPod Nano 7th generation 16GB MP3 players on sale from $139.99 (reg. refurb. price) to $99.98. $140 may be the regular refurbished price, but you could expect to pay around $180 for a non-refurbished model. Your iPod will ship with free shipping as it costs over $25.

If I was investing in an iPod, I would most certainly purchase the purple refurbished model. Also all my iPods have been refurbished models as I just do not feel like shelling out extra money for a ‘new model’. I have had great success with refurbished models. In fact, usually I end up selling them or giving them away before they ever have a problem. Refurbished models are an affordable way to purchase a brand like Apple.

As these are refurbished models, there are far fewer in stock. I expect this deal to sell out quickly! I really want to purchase the purple iPod Nano, which would be especially useful right now. Due to an iOS update on my iPhone, the polarization of the charging port reversed and I have had to send the phone in for repairs. I have no transportable device right now where I can check email, check Facebook, or message my friends and family! If I had an iPod, I could do all of those things while connected to my Wi-Fi.

If you need a larger unit, I wanted to mention the sale on refurbished iPod Touch models as well. This Apple Ipod Touch 5th Generation 16gb – Blue – Refurbished is on sale from $200 down to $139.98. Personally, 16GB is just not going to store all my music when part of that size is used up by the operating system. I would need to buy a 32GB unit.

Both the Apple Ipod Touch® 5th Generation 32gb – Space Grey – Refurbished and the Apple Ipod Touch 5th Generation 32gb – Blue – Refurbished are on sale from a retail value of $299.99 down to $169.98. I price compared with Apple Canada. They sell the 4th generation (one generation earlier) 32GB iPod Touch for $179. The Source’s deal is better!

Beats urBeats SE Earphones Silver or Space Grey Edition Were $100 | Now $60 + Free Shipping @ TheSource.ca

Beats urBeats SE Earphones Silver or Space Grey Edition Were $100 | Now $60 + Free Shipping @ TheSource.ca

Now is your chance to save $40 on these ever-so-popular Beats urBeats SE Earphones by Dr Dre. The Source Canada has these high quality in-ear headphones on sale from $100 down to just $59.99, which happens to be the best price around. You will also get free shipping. These headphones are available at this price in two colours: Space Grey and Silver.

Do you think it is a coincidence that these two colours would perfectly match the iPhone? I have a white iPhone 5s and the Silver Edition Beats urBeats SE Earphones would look wonderful with my phone. While I would never catch myself paying $100 for a pair of earphones, I would definitely consider paying just $60, especially for a quality like this. I guess I don’t often use earphones at all because my cats can make pretty short work of them. Did I mention that these would make a great Fathers Day gift?

Before I had children and cats, I loved headphones like this for jogging or doing other outdoor activities. Sometimes music really helps you keep your mind off the burn and work out for longer too. These headphones are designed to have remarkable sound as well as style with a lightweight design. They are also known to be quite durable, but I will let my cats be the judge of that. The cable is meant to be tangle free, which is my dream come true. There is nothing more frustrating than trying to untangle your headphones before heading out for a brisk jog. These headphones even come with a storage pouch to further prevent any tangling. You will also find that 3 pairs of ear tip fittings are included. While you may think that $59.99 is still steep for headphones, you won’t find these quality headphones by Dr Dre for less anywhere else. Take a look at what other Canadian retailers are selling these Beats urBeats SE Earphones for:

Since TheSource.ca offers free shipping on all orders over $25, your purchase will automatically qualify for free shipping right to your door. If you don’t want to wait that long to get your item, you could always pick it up in store for free as well. If you happen to purchase something else from TheSource.ca that does not total $25, you could always use the coupon code TS499 at the check out to get free shipping with no minimum purchase. The Source Canada: Free Speaker with Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Purchase ($100 Value)

Posted by on June 4, 2015 at 12:00 PM

The Source Canada: Free Speaker with Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 Purchase ($100 Value)

The Source Canada is giving away a free Samsung Bluetooth speaker valued at $100 when you purchase the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 10.1″ tablet for $269.99.

First, I price compared the price of this tablet with other online retailers. The speaker would not exactly be ‘free’ if they had built the price of it into the tablet’s price. However, I found everything on the level. This same tablet retails for:

  • $269.96 @ Staples Canada
  • $269.99 @ Best Buy Canada
  • $268 @ Walmart Canada

I also found it over $300 at Newegg.ca but that is through a secondary seller: I do not think it counts. The Source’s price is pretty much the same as any other retailer, thus the free speaker is indeed a nice bonus.

You are purchasing the white model. Your new tablet comes with a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and 16GB of memory. That memory can be expanded with a 32GB microSD card inserted into the microSD slot on the tablet. That would give you a total of 48GB of memory. This 10.1″ tablet runs Android 4.4 KitKat, one of the newest android operating systems. The reviews rave on this tablet no matter where I look. One reviewer said:

for what this tablet offers at the going price, it beats out the competition. The battery life is great, and the performance keeps up with some demanding apps.

Other reviewers say that it is great for kids (has a kid mode) and the screen size is much better than the 7″, which they found a bit small. Other reviewers praise the speed, the crisp-clear screen, and the ability to expand memory. Another reviewer says:

I was fortunate enough to get this table to while on sale but would be willing to pay full price anyway. The display is clear and crisp, great battery life, extremely fast and feature packed. I highly recommend this tablet to anyone as it is kid friendly as well.

Now, this deal is great but they really do not tell you anything about the Samsung Bluetooth Speaker you are getting for free, which is a shame. I tried to photo match by browsing websites, but I just could not figure out which speaker this is. If you recognise the free Samsung speaker being offered, please drop us a line.

Receive free shipping on orders of $25 or more.

The Source Canada: Nexxtech 32GB USB Thumb Drive $14.99 (Save $35) **BUMP**

Posted by on June 1, 2015 at 1:00 PM

The Source Canada: Nexxtech 32GB USB Thumb Drive $14.99 (Save $35) **BUMP**

**Bumping this deal now that it is back on at The Source.**

Need a little memory? Pick up a couple Nexxtech 32GB USB thumb drives at The Source Canada for just $14.99 apiece, originally $49.99.

Buy just one and get it delivered to your local store for free (or pay $4.99 for shipping). Pick up two or more to reach that $20 free shipping minimum and get your thumb drives shipping to your home free of charge.

I could not find this thumb drive anywhere else, but comparable 32GB USB flash drives tended to be a bit more expensive for other name brand products.

This flash drive slides open, so you will not lose your cap and risk getting the tip of the drive dirty or bent. Unfortunately, the USB flash drives ship on a random colour basis – so you might end up with red, blue, purple, black, or maybe another colour. If you want an exact colour, then you should visit your local Source store to pick one out for yourself.

Use your Nexxtech thumb drive to transfer photos, movies, and music from one computer to another. When visiting relatives, you merely need to pop the flash drive in the side of their computer to transfer new photos and family movies. This is a great way to keep the grandparents and rest of the family up to date. You can even mail them the flash drive full of goodies. Even if you lose the flash drive, or your lovely relative decides to borrow indefinitely, the drive only costs $15 so it is not a huge loss.

A 32GB flash drive is more than most people will ever need for transferring visual media. A thumb drive this size can hold:

  • 15,237 photos
  • 7,618 MP3
  • 60 feature length films

One reviewer said:

Ideal for transporting photo and video files from pc to pc. I get some everytime they come on sale. Exceptional value.

I have one USB drive and it is pretty small. I got it from my university and I could actually max. it out with just the number of assignments I did each year. I also think it may be corrupted. Maybe I need one of these for my documents moving forward.

The Source: $25 Savings Card with Every Purchase

Posted by on May 4, 2015 at 1:30 PM

The Source: $25 Savings Card with Every Purchase

The Source Canada is offering a $25 savings card with every purchase on their website.

While there is no minimum purchase required to receive the saving’s card, there is a minimum required for spending it. The $25 savings card you receive is redeemable on orders of $150 or more. You can redeem the card between June 1 and June 21, 2015. No restrictions are mention – so this should be valid on most anything you could want including some of the ‘restricted’ brand names like Apple and Bose.

With this offer, I would suggest your first purchase be fairly as you will want to use the savings card on a larger purchase. If you have The Source store nearby, then pick up your order in store to avoid shipping charges on orders under $25. This Gigastone 16GB USB Thumb Drive is on sale from $24.99 down to $7.99 right now. One reviewer said:

Bought to use as a backup for a recent laptop purchase. Installed automatically, and worked well for assigned duty. New laptop requires a minimum 16 gig stick to copy hard drive restore information in the event the laptop crashes and or master drive dies.

I think this is a great idea: you should always have an external backup in the case of emergencies.

If you are looking for a simple set of earbuds, look no further than the SONY MDR-EX15AP/B Fashion Colour EX Earbuds in blue. Originally $29.99, the ear buds are on sale for $19.99. These will work well with any MP3 player or smart phone. They come with an in-line mic and smart phone controls. There are three sizes of silicone ear buds so you receive the perfect fit. I have read some earbud reviews where people need two different sizes (different size for each ear) in order to get the perfect fit. Do not be afraid to mix and match sizes.

Combine the two above deals and you can receive free shipping to your home (orders of $25 or more). Orders under $25 can still be shipped free to your local store.

The $25 savings card requires a high minimum. I would use it on a new iPod – as Apple recently jacked their prices – or on a new monitor. Laptops and speaker systems (like Bose) also would benefit from the $25 off $150 savings card.

Individual deals will have their own expiry dates. The following expiry is for the savings card promotion.

The Source Coupon Code: $25 Off $150 Purchase

The Source Coupon Code: $25 Off $150 Purchase

The Source Canada is offering $25 off orders of $150 or more with the following coupon code.

Click here to shop @ The Source Canada now

  • Coupon Code: EMAILEXCLUSIVE
  • Discount: $25 off $150
  • Expiry: 29th April 2015

This is a two-day only offer by The Source Canada. You can stack it on top of whatever deals you like!

Personally, I jetted my butt straight to the Bose SoundLink Mini Bluetooth Speaker I have had my eye on forever. Originally $219.99, the speaker is now on sale for $199.99. Most of the time Bose is excluded from coupon codes but this time it worked! This legendary sound system came down to just $174.99 after coupon, thus beating all deals I have seen on the sound system ever.

The Source Coupon Code: $25 Off $150 Purchase

Well, there goes my birthday fund.

I have actually been looking out for a new laptop – not really for myself, but for a friend of mine. Personally, I love my laptop but I need to get it to do a full back up so I can wipe the system clean. However, my friend’s electronics are self-destructing as we speak. I suggested he just invest in a laptop (instead of both a laptop and a desktop) and purchase the extra cables he needs to hook up his external monitors.

This Acer Aspire E5-521-66SN Laptop was $499.99 and is now on sale for $429.99. After coupon code, the laptop comes down to $404.99. This laptop comes with:

  • AMD Quad-Core A6-6310 processor
  • 6GB DDR3L RAM
  • 1TB HDD

One reviewer said:

great laptop for the price, fast buffering for internet

The laptop also has a 15.6″ screen size and comes with Windows 8.1, which I will have to try out at some time. I am still clinging to Windows 7. I do like that this computer has good speed, somewhere in the middle, and has a giant hard drive. I could actually go for half the hard drive side and double the processor speed – but they do not like to make those computers. I price compared this exact laptop with Best Buy Canada where it is on sale for $449.99. The Source beats that price by $45.

The coupon code only takes $25 off your entire order. If you plan to buy two or more expensive items, then place two separate orders.

All orders of $25 or more will ship to your home for free. As the coupon necessitates you spend $150, you are guaranteed free shipping.

Posted by on April 23, 2015 at 3:00 PM

The Source: Total Chef Juicin Juicer Was $100 | Now $70 & Free Shipping

The Source Canada has an excellent sale on the Total Chef Juicin’ Juicer. Originally $99.99, the juicer is on sale for $69.99 with free shipping.

I price compared this unit with other online retailers. The Total Chef Juicin’ Juicer retails for the following prices:

  • $84 @ Walmart Canada
  • $99.95 @ Shop.ca
  • $99.95 @ Home Depot Canada
  • $99.98 @ Best Buy Canada

This is a basic juicer – perfect for morning freshly squeezed orange juice. Many juicers are quite expensive, but if you want to pass on store bought juice for a healthier alternative, then pick up this budget friendly juicer from Total Chef. This juicer can also juice veggies. The Top Chef Juicin’ Juicer has a dual speed selector and auto-shut off. The extra-large pulp bin will let you get through a couple glasses of juice before emptying. A wide chut opening lets you spend less time cutting fruit.

The juicer is a combination of plastic and stainless steel. Most importantly, the juicing blade is made of stainless steel so it will keep a sharp edge and last for years to come. I like the addition of suction cups to the bottom of the juicer to keep it in place on your counter. That sounds very handy.

While there are no reviews on The Source, I did find some on other websites. Reviews for this juicer are a mixed kettle of fish. Some people found it not worth the money ($100) and found the machine a bit messy. However, one reviewer at Home Depot reminded readers that:

It is not the best juicer out there, but it is in a good 100.00 juicer. It does leave wet pulp not getting all the juice out but in all fairness I have not read the manual yet. Make sure that it is put together snugly or you will have a mess. I have used better juicers but this one fits what I need for now and the price is right. clean up is not that bad if you do it right after you use it.

If this is a good juicer for $100, then I think it is an even better juicer at only $70. For anyone needing a juicer on a budget, this one certainly fits the bill. As the juicer costs over $29, it qualifies for free shipping to your home.

The Source Canada: Acer X223W 22″ Monitor Was $135 | Now $80 & Free Shipping (EXPIRED)

Posted by on March 19, 2015 at 10:35 PM

The Source Canada: Acer X223W 22 Monitor Was $135 | Now $80 & Free Shipping (EXPIRED)

Monitors on a tight budget are not too common on Bargainmoose, but I just found a great little deal. The Source Canada has discounted the Acer 22″ X223W LCD monitor from $134.98 (regular price) down to $79.96. This is an open box model and comes with full warranty.

I think a clarification of terms is in order first. There is a big difference between display model, open box, and refurbished. Refurbished means the product had an issue and had to be sent back to the manufacturer to be fixed. Display models were used in store as display models. Open box items are generally when a box has been opened to show the product to a customer and when a box gets damaged in transit. The product inside is still brand new and comes with the full three year warranty (or one year warranty – The Source has two different warranty lengths written in different places). The warranty protects you from anything going wrong.

Here is a basic rundown of the monitor’s features. The 22″ TFT LCD screen provides crispt clear images. That screen has a 1680 x 1050 resolution and a 50000:1 contrast resolution. There is a 5 ms response time that will accommodate most movies you throw at it. There are both VGA and DVI (HDCP) Ports on the monitor as well. One reviewer said:

I got this item on sale, great for the price! screen is clear!

I could not exactly price compare this unit as I could not find it elsewhere in Canada. However, I looked at the cheapest 20 – 22″ monitors on Best Buy Canada to get an idea. The only two deals that came close to this were:

  • HP 20″ IPS LED Backlit Monitor (20BW) – $99.99
  • Dell 20″ Widescreen LED Monitor (P2011H) – Refurbished – $99.99

Both the monitors are 2″ smaller than the Acer and both cost an extra $20 premium. In addition, the Dell is a refurbished unit so it is not even new. On Walmart Canada, the cheapest monitor is an Acer K202HQL b 19.5″ LED for $98. Given that the Acer from The Source costs less and is a bigger monitor, I think this deal is hot.

As the Acer monitor retails for over $25, you will receive free shipping to your home. I assume this monitor will set out quickly as The Source often has very low stock on their clearance items.

The Source: Beats Solo 2.0 Wireless Headphones Were $330 | Now $280 & Free Shipping

Posted by on March 17, 2015 at 6:16 PM

The Source: Beats Solo 2.0 Wireless Headphones Were $330 | Now $280 & Free Shipping

The Source Canada had discounted the ever-popular Beats by Dr. Dre Solo 2 wireless Bluetooth headphones from $329.99 down to $279.99. As the headphones cost over $25, they will ship for free.

Only the red Beats Solo 2.0 is on sale. I price compared with other popular retailers. I could not find them on sale elsewhere. Here is what they are selling for at other places:

  • $329.95 @ Apple Canada
  • $329.99 @ Best Buy Canada (OOS)
  • $329.99 @ Future Shop Canada (OOS)

It is very important to know the difference between these and the other (cheaper) Beats Solo 2.0 headphones. The ‘other’ Beats Solo 2.0 headphones that retail for about $100 less are wired headphones. These Beats are wireless with Bluetooth compatibility so you can hook them up, without wires, to your smart phone, iPhone, MP3 player, and more.

These headphones offer around 30 feet of wireless freedom – give or take a concrete wall or two. That means you can put your phone down in the living room and still make a trip to the bathroom with your headset on. I am not sure who does that, besides me. I really like wireless headphones for travel. It can be a royal pain to untangle the cord of my headset or fish it out from underneath and behind things.

For travel, the wireless Beats Solo 2.0 is perfect. The headset is compact – folding down for travel or storage. The ear cups are padded for both comfort, and to cut out external noise from interfering with your musical experience. While I have not been impressed with the sound from Beats before (many years ago), it sounds like they have gotten better. One reviewer said:

I could not believe the difference from the other headphones I was using..you can hear so clear it is unreal recommend to anyone

This headset comes with a cord so you can still listen to your music when the battery runs out. Enjoy the icon Beats by Dr Dre styling and the gorgeous hot red colour. This headset demands to be noticed!

If you own this headset, then we would love to hear from you! I always like hearing feedback from our Moosers on what they think of their electronics and more. This information is really helpful for other Moosers!

The Source Canada has further discounted the Nexxtech 32GB USB Thumb Drive. Originally $49.99, this 32GB flash drive is on sale for $12.99. Use The Source coupon code TS4411 for free standard shipping to your door.

Okay, I will admit I have blogged a similar deal before. Back in September, The Source had the Nexxtech 32GB thumb drives on sale for $14.99. There was no free shipping promo. Therefore, if you wanted it shipped to your home, then you had to pay an additional $4.95. Not only is the Nexxtech drive cheaper right now, you also save $5 on shipping. Sweet!

For your information: this is a 2.0 not a 3.0 thumb drive. For tech newbies, that refers to transfer speed. The newest flash drives are all 3.0 speed so this is the previous generation. I do not think I own anything (hard drive, flash drives, etc.) that has the 3.0 speed yet. I tend to use electronics until they die, so that is why.

The reviews are very positive! One reviewer said:

This USB does it all. It is well made, comes in great colors, has built in storage sleeve, bought on sale at a ridiculously low price and bought 4, has a place to attach to a carrying handle and is very high quality.

Another reviewer said:

Great value for the money. I bought it while on sale ($14.99) and I love it. It’s fast enough and full of space for pics, music or movies.

This reviewer also said that shipping to his door was super-fast. He ordered the Nexxtech drive on one day, and two days later the drive arrived.

As I mentioned before, a 32GB thumb drive holds more data than your average consumer will ever need to store or transfer. A 32GB flash drive can hold 15,237 photos, 7,618 MP3, or 60 feature length films.

I could not find this model anywhere else in Canada but everywhere I looked, these sort of flash drives were $14.99 or more (without free shipping).

Now, if you MUST have the 3.0 speed – you need to shop at Amazon Canada. They have the Lexar Jumpdrive 32GB 3.0 stick on sale, in orange, from $41 down to $14.99 plus shipping. This is also a very good deal, but you can only score free shipping if you order $25 or more.

Whichever way you go, these are both great deals on a 32GB flash drive.
