Lord of the Rings: Motion Picture Trilogy, Extended Edition, Blu ray, Was $77 Now $24.99 @!

From time to time we’ll find a hot deal on a popular movie series, and it will just be screaming out to be blogged on Bargainmoose! That’s what I feel about this movie deal today – you can get a superb price on The Lord of the Rings: Motion Picture Trilogy Blu-Ray from Originally priced at $76.99, it’s only $24.99 just now!

This particular edition is both the extended edition, and it’s also bi-lingual. So, it’s good for those of you who love The Lord of the Rings, and also the French-speaking moosers.

I think we are all very familiar with’s shipping policies, but I will make a note in here in case you are not. If you have an Amazon Prime account, then shipping on this item would be free to your home. However, if you’ve just got a regular account, you’ll be disappointed to hear that this item falls $0.01 short of getting free shipping! The free shipping minimum on is $25. Why not pop a smaller filler item in your cart to take it over the $25 mark?

The last time we wrote about this deal on was two years ago here, and at that time, the deal was $40. As for prices elsewhere today, most online stores in Canada are selling this DVD set for around the $50 mark, such as at Chapters and Staples. It’s also $24.99 @ – I didn’t even realise that they sold online! However, the Amazon deal is better because of the shipping status – the minimum shipping cost on HMV for a test order to Ontario was coming up at an extra $6.

Needless to say, this is an absolutely fantastic set of movies. I actually own the same editions but on DVD, not on Blu-Ray. Every couple of years, we have a LOTR weekend marathon, watching them all in one go. Lord of the Rings: Motion Picture Trilogy, Extended Edition, Blu ray, Was $77 Now $24.99 @!

Some people will only buy their media on Blu-ray now, as our author Avigayil recently commented. She only buys Blu-Rays! For me, I’m still buying both DVDs and Blu-Rays, depending on which media I can find the best deals. How about you? Do you collect Blu-Rays?

Chapters Canada: Lord Of The Rings Box Set $10 On Orders $35+ (& Free Shipping)

Chapters Canada: Lord Of The Rings Box Set $10 On Orders $35+ (& Free Shipping)

Celebrate the 75th anniversary of The Lord of the Rings by getting the box set for just $10 when you shop for over $35 at Chapters. It will also be shipped for free!

Regularly priced at $49.99 and already on sale for $31.34, if you get this box set for $10, that means you will be saving 80% off the original price! The box set includes: The Hobbit, The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers and The Return of the King.

I particularly like this edition of the beyond popular series as the covers don’t feature stills from the movies. The movies are of course great in and of themselves, but it’s refreshing to see more unique book covers, especially since the books were initially written and published in the 1930’s. Keep in mind that the format of the books is also in trade paperback.

Although Tolkien wrote The Hobbit before the Lord of the Rings series, the makers of the movies chose to release these stories the other way around with the LOTR before The Hobbit and perhaps rightfully so given their world-wide success, but the fact remains that I’m sure many of you have yet to either watch The Hobbit movie or even read the book. This box definitely makes things easier, especially since when I bought my box set ages ago, I had to buy The Hobbit separately. On its own, The Hobbit costs a little over $10, so you’re definitely better off taking advantage of this deal since you will basically be getting four books for the price of one!

It’s too bad this deal isn’t a freebie, but considering this box set’s regular price is of $31.34 at Chapters and $19 at Amazon, it’s still a really good deal considering it comes with all four books. In any case, this is a particularly great deal to take advantage of if you were already about to get something else at Chapters. In fact, Krista recently blogged about the border throw on sale for just $12.50 (reg. $49.50). I would definitely love to have a couple of those with the pink border in honour of my little baby girl! Chapters Canada: Lord Of The Rings Box Set $10 On Orders $35+ (& Free Shipping)

Your order will also automatically qualify for free shipping as Chapters always ships orders over $25 for free. If you aren’t already, I also suggest you subscribe to their Plum Rewards program as it’s free to do so and you will also get to enjoy slightly lower prices.

Best Buy Canada: 15% Off Select Lego Series Including Star Wars, The Hobbit, LoTR & More!

Best Buy Canada: 15% Off Select Lego Series Including Star Wars, The Hobbit, LoTR & More!

According to Lehigh University the Death Star would cost about $850,000,000,000,000,000 to build. You can build your own Star Wars gear out of LEGO for much cheaper, and get 15% off at Best Buy Canada!

It’s not only Star Wars LEGO (sets starting at $12.99) that is on sale. You can also get Chima (starting at $14.99), Friends (starting at $5.99), City (starting at $8.99), The Hobbit (starting at $34.99) and Lord of the Rings LEGO sets (larger sets starting at $74.99). What better way to get your kids ready for the new Star Wars or the upcoming Hobbit movies, or even to get them into past properties like, of course, the original Star Wars or the LotR movies? Even the LotR books would be cooler with LEGO.

I suspect a lot of parents are going to dig these too. I know I can’t wait for my boy to be at LEGO-building age. I used to play with these sets all the time as a kid, so having an excuse to drop tons of money on sweet toys is gonna be great. Even if you don’t have kids, it can be a great hobby. We spend so much time playing video games and watching shows, that using LEGO as a tactile, physical hobby would be a great idea. It’s like the super-awesome version of your grandmother doing puzzles on the kitchen table.

Shipping on orders over $20 is free. Under $20, it depends on what you get and where you are, but a $13 Star Wars LEGO set costs less than $3 to ship to me.

January 5 50% Off Box Set of The Hobbit & The Lord of The Rings Books + MORE Tolkien Deals!

Posted by on January 5, 2013 at 8:00 AM 50% Off Box Set of The Hobbit & The Lord of The Rings Books + MORE Tolkien Deals!

If you want to be the coolest nerd watching The Hobbit for the 32nd time, you need to bring this box set of the books along with you. Amazon Canada will sell you the box set for cheap but be warned, if you are wearing your wizard robe when they deliver it, Amazon can’t sell you your self respect.

The books are normally $49.99, but the 50% off gets you the books for $25. As it turns out, that is just the right level to get free shipping. How thoughtful of them, huh?

I mentioned in another post that I dislike The Lord of The Rings series or any of Tolkien’s stuff. I’m sure I could actually dig his work but I, as I mentioned in that other article, couldn’t sit still enough to read it when I was a kid and absolutely despised the few bits of the movies that I could actually stomach. That being said, I’ve actually been tempted by the Hobbit so maybe I’ll strap myself to the couch and force my self to watch one of the movies. Maybe.

I said in the title that I have more J.R.R. Tolkien deals for you and I do. The first is two different editions of The Hobbit that you can find here:

The Hobbit Two Volume is a good deal, but there are other retailers who have the movie tie in version of The Hobbit for the same or nearly the same price, so it isn’t as good a deal unless shipping from Amazon happens to work better for you.

The other thing you should look it is Amazon Canada’s Tolkien store. Not everything here is an especially good deal but it is a convenient place to get your Tolkien fix all in one spot.

December 14 ART BOOK! 50% Off The Tolkien Years of the Brothers Hildebrandt (Pay $14.99)

Posted by on December 14, 2012 at 4:00 AM ART BOOK! 50% Off The Tolkien Years of the Brothers Hildebrandt (Pay $14.99)

Listen up nerds, The Hobbit is out and there is no better way to out-nerd the nerd waiting in line next to you than to whip out your tablet or smartphone and start reading about some of the best art based on Tolkien’s fiction ever created.

Click here to get your Tolkien based art book @!

I call you nerds but I do it with love. The book is normally $29.99 but you get 50% off just for being you! So how much do you pay? Well you’re the nerd! You figure it out with your chess club brain! Wait… I’m a nerd too. Ok, you pay $14.99. All that aside, I’m not a fan of Tolkien’s stuff so this holds no interest for me but I know there are tons of people out there who absolutely love his stuff. I mainly don’t like it because I could never sit still enough to read them when I was a kid and I absolutely despised the small bits of the movies that I could sit through. Of course now that I’m on Audible and could easily listen to the books, I can’t bring myself to do it because the movies were so heinous.

As for the actual book, here is the blurb from Comixology. It actually looks like it’d be very cool for a fan.

78 pages! The million-selling Lord of the Rings calendars created during the ’70s by renowned fantasy artists Greg and Tim Hildebrandt are now considered artistic masterpieces. The Tolkien Years of the Brothers Hildebrandt tells the untold story behind the creation of those cherished illustrations. Written by Greg Hildebrandt, Jr., Greg Hildebrandt’s son, this fascinating book tells the story through the eyes of young Gregory when, at ages five, six, and seven he posed for the various “little people” characters known as the Hobbits. Gregory reminisces about his key role in the development of these calendar paintings and the unique creative ingenuity of his father and uncle. Updated and expanded with all-new pages, commentary, and exclusive material, this book offers a fascinating behind-the-scenes look at the work of two renowned fantasy artists, written through the eyes of their closest family member, providing Tolkien-lovers with a fantastic treasury of Lord of the Rings art.

Now I know I’ve said some things here that some of you aren’t going to like (I’m looking at you boss lady and Avi) but I’m ok with that. Please, feel free to flame away in the comments below! I am your target!

Walmart Canada: Lord Of The Rings Blu-ray Trilogy w/ Ring (Walmart Exclusive)

Walmart Canada: Lord Of The Rings Blu ray Trilogy w/ Ring (Walmart Exclusive)

Walmart Canada has the Lord Of The Rings Blu-Ray Trilogy set with ring on sale for $25.93.  This sale is a Walmart exclusive.  Offer is valid for a limited time only while supplies last.

This is an absolute must for all the Lord of the Rings fans out there.  I have a set, but not this one and certainly not the ring.  I know that every fan, including myself would love to receive this under the tree.

Who can forget the 1st movie, The Fellowship of the Ring, where Frodo starts off as a young hobbit thinking of nothing more than his home and surrounding Shire.  He suddenly inherits a ring and is off on a quest against evil.

Then we patiently awaited the 2nd movie, The Two Towers, which was the same quest, with many twists and characters going their own way.  I love that amazing battle at Helm’s Deep and Legolas reminding me of Link from Zelda.

At last we have the conclusion, The Return Of The King where everyone prepares for the final battle for Middle Earth.  There are some awesome battles in this one as well, although the scenes with Frodo and Sam tend to run on, but the movie was worth the wait.

Check out Walmart’s other movie sets available as well.

Shipping: Free for most items.

Amazon Canada: Lord of the Rings Blu-ray Trilogy $40 (save 64%)

Amazon Canada: Lord of the Rings Blu ray Trilogy $40 (save 64%)

Amazon Canada has an awesome deal on right now.  Get the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy on Blu-ray for just $40 (regular price is $111.99).  That is 64% off the regular price.

Usually when you buy the entire box set of a series of movies you will be paying well over $100 for it specifically if it is on Blu-ray.  This entire collection is on sale for a limited time only for just $40!  I took advantage of the last awesome box set offer from Amazon Canada (the Harry Potter collection) and it arrived at my door before the end of the week. This offer states that it will be shipped within 1-2 months but so did the last offer and it was a lot faster.

I absolutely love the Lord of the Rings Trilogy and at this hot price it is hard to pass up! With Father’s Day just a few weeks away, this would make a fantastic Father’s Day gift for the dad that is a movie lover, if he doesn’t already own the collection.
