Textbookrental Canada Coupon: Extra 5% Cashback When Selling Textbooks

Posted by on April 22, 2013 at 5:00 PM

Textbookrental Canada Coupon: Extra 5% Cashback When Selling Textbooks

The end of another semester is upon us! If you bought some textbooks this year – now is the time to sell them. Textbookrental Canada is offering an extra 5% cash-back when you sell your textbooks to them.

Click here to sell books to Textbookrental.ca

    • Coupon Code: SPRINGISHERE
    • Discount: extra 5% back
    • Expiry: Unknown

If you are returning textbooks to Textbookrental Canada, you can include your sale books in with your returns – I did. I just returned four books to them and sold a textbook to them at the same time. I have found that the longer I hold on to textbooks the less they are worth.

Selling books to Textbookrental Canada is easy: just input the book’s ISBN number online and the system will tell you if they are currently buying that book. I am an English major, and out of all the books I had to buy for my last two semesters, they were only buying one. But that is better than none! I think they would probably be more interested in science or business textbooks.

Don’t forget to check the Bargainmoose forums for more Textbookrental coupons!

TextbookRental Canada Coupon: Extra 5% Off

Time to hit the books again in just a few days! If you are trying to save money as a university student, a good way to do that is to rent your textbooks. Textbookrental.ca is offering an extra 5% off your rental.

Click here to shop @ Textbook Rental Canada

    • Coupon Code: NEWYEAR2013
    • Discount: Extra 5% off
    • Expiry: 7th, January 2013

I am a textbook renter – not a buyer. I rented five of my textbooks from Textbook rental for this semester – and am just waiting for them to come in. I have had excellent customer service from the company – but their website has had some major glitches that have become annoying. I hope they get it all sorted out soon. Besides that, I highly recommend renting textbooks. You aren’t stuck with books that your university won’t buyback, and you spend much less than you would actually buying the books.

Make sure to check out this and other Textbookrental coupon codes before ever placing an order.

BigMama Coupon: Exclusive 5% off Textbook Rentals

You can combine the coupon above with the additional offer available on their checkout page in order to get a 10% discount.

If you haven’t heard of it, it’s basically a textbook rental service. You choose which book you want, how long you want it for and it will show you the cost. The cost will obviously be cheaper than purchasing the textbook outright. I think it’s quite a handy option if you’re at university, like me.

I have had amazing success with renting textbooks the last few semesters. I don’t have to worry about my books not being bought back by the university, and I don’t have to take the time and effort to list and try to sell my books locally. I also save so much off of retail price that this service is quickly becoming my favourite.

I find it pretty cool that Bigmama plant a tree every time you rent!

I have found over the past few years in university that renting textbooks saves me a lot of time, money, and effort. The money is simple, renting is cheaper than buying. The time and effort it saves is trying to sell my textbooks after the semester when the school refuses to buy them back.

I hope your shopping for university this year is going well, and best of luck come the start of semester!

    Textbook Rental Coupon Codes

Bookmob.ca is where my big score came from this year: they had almost everything! I got 10 books from them for my fall semester… I felt like a thief they were so cheap! The flat rate shipping is a god-sent and really, I was most pleased with this order!

    • Discount: 5% off
    • Expiry: Unknown

Shipping: Depends on the weight of the parcel and the distance from Toronto, free returns.

I picked up two textbooks at Textbookrental.ca this year. They are saving me about 30% on buying them, and at the end I don’t have to fight with the university about book buybacks. I just send them back with my pre-paid shipping label.

The other biggy for Canadian textbook rentals is BigMama.ca, however, I have been unable to find any coupons for that website lately.

    - – -

Now for the news of how my Fall 2012 semester is looking textbook wise.

To buy all my books for this semester (14) from my university bookstore would have cost me: $435.07 (including GST).

    What did I pay?

    • 2 books from textbookrental.ca = $32.55 (used some credit so that helped)
    • 2 books from BetterWorldBooks = $20.35
    • 10 books from Bookmob.ca = $65.38

Total I paid for my Fall 2012 semester books = $118.28 (including GST).

Even without the credit on my account, my total fall book purchase would have been under $200. The two from BetterWorldBooks I get to keep, the rest I send back at the end of the semester. I like using a combo of textbook rentals, and buying used textbooks cheap like I mentioned in my post here.

Already my semester is looking bright, how is yours?

    Places To Buy Used Textbooks

Posted by on August 9, 2012 at 9:00 PM

    Places To Buy Used Textbooks

You can rent textbooks, you can buy textbooks. That is pretty much your two options. I see a LOT of students every year paying full price for their textbooks in the University Bookstore, when a little work on the computer, a credit card, and a few hours would be sufficient to get them massive discounts.

Here is a list of non-traditional places to buy textbooks, and some coupons to help out:

    Chapters Canada

Buy new and used textbooks. Used often costs less, but shipping is a flat $6.49 per used book. Coupons won’t work on used textbooks.

    • Coupon Code: AUG2012
    • Discount: $5 off $30
    • Expiry: 31st, August 2012

    Amazon Canada

Excellent place to buy textbooks, and the marketplace sellers can give you a great price on used and new textbooks as well.

    BetterWorldBooks

Free shipping worldwide, for every book bought they donate a book, and good prices too. I bought two of my textbooks through them this year.

    • Coupon Code: BOOKS4GOOD
    • Discount: 10% off 2 or more used books
    • Expiry: Unknown

    Alibris

If any website is going to have your book, Alibris will. It works sorta like the Amazon marketplace with many sellers listed within it. You can search for books and buy from Alibris, or you can note the name of the seller and try to find out if it is cheaper through their own store (if they have one). Alibris has a plethora of coupons usually, here is just one:

    • Coupon Code: VOYAGE
    • Discount: $3 off $30
    • Expiry: Unknown

    Abebooks

Also one of the giants, though I have never ordered from this one. They have a ton of used textbooks and are a great resource.

    Book Depository

Free shipping worldwide. I personally have not ordered through them before, but I have relatives in Canada who have.

    Awesome Books

UK based place, good for comparisons and you might score yourself a deal. Free shipping to Canada on orders of 2 books or more.

    Kijiji

Go to your local Kijiji and shop. I have bought many a used textbook off of Kijiji, usually I can get decent prices, but do price compare because sometimes students are asking almost full price.

I hope this gives you a brief run down on what options are out there for buying textbooks. Usually it is far cheaper to buy your textbooks from these websites than your University’s bookstore.

Do note: Some of these are US websites, or UK websites. Customs/duty may apply. I would say 1 out of every 4 orders for textbooks I make from out of the country gets a duty charge. The money I save goes well above and beyond that, so I don’t mind.

I pretty much take a morning (usually the 1st of August) off and open many, many browser windows on my computer. I spend my time price comparing textbooks across all of these websites, and the textbook rental websites. I will be doing a post really soon on textbook rental websites, so keep your eyes peeled! I will tell you how much I spent on textbooks for a full 5 course semester!

Moosers, do you know of any good places to buy textbooks?
