Best Buy Canada: 40 Dynex 1080p HDTV Was $400 | Now $250 & Free Shipping

Go and buy yourself a television at Best Buy – right now. Best Buy Canada has discounted the Dynex 40″ 1080p 60Hz LED TV (DX-40D510NA15) from $399.99 down to $249.99. While larger TVs have a $49.99 handling charge, this 40″ Dynex comes with free shipping!

Okay my lovelies! It is time for price comparing this television. Often, I find price comparing TVs difficult because certain retailers only carry certain brands – and whatnot. I could only find this HDTV (In Canada) at Best Buy’s sister store. Future Shop currently has the sale television on sale from $499.99 down to $299.99. Best Buy’s price is $50 better.

This is a full (1080p) HD TV for beautiful colours and rich landscapes. The Dynex 40″ HDTV provides 1920 x 1080 HD for all your pictures, videos, and more. Combine this television with your favourite HD movies for a mind-blowing experience at an affordable price.

This TV has the following ports:

  • 2 high speed HDM (shared HDMI/DVI)
  • USB port
  • shared component video
  • composite video with audio
  • antenna/cable
  • 3.5mm PC/DVI audio input

Most reviewers on Best Buy purchased this TV while it was on sale. I read the first six or seven reviews; all of them thought the Dynex television was good value for the price. One reviewer said:

Got this TV on sale, great price for the size. Not the sharpest graphics but I dont need cinema quality. Built in speakers are also really loud, haven’t felt the need to get a sound bar yet. Good value in my opinion.

Other reviewers have suggested using custom settings (not base image settings) for a better picture. One reviewer detailed out some settings for you to try to improve the picture quality.

Turned down backlight, turned off overscan, aspect ratio normal, noise reduction low, adaptive contrast off, dcr off or low. Using these settings and the picture looks great.

Try following those setting suggests for the best picture quality. Many reviewers praise the volume of this television and say the size is good. Two HDMI ports are sufficient for most people as well. The television is an excellent price especcialy with free shipping.

Depending on your province, there may be an environmental fee tacked on to your television. For BC, that fee is $23.25.

Future Shop Canada After Hours Sale: Up To 75% Off Cookware Sets, Used Games, Cameras, TVs & More! (EXPIRED)

Future Shop Canada After Hours Sale: Up To 75% Off Cookware Sets, Used Games, Cameras, TVs & More! (EXPIRED)

Don’t have plans on this fine Saturday night? Then you’re in luck, because Future Shop’s After Hours Sale just started and during the next couple of hours, you can score plenty of amazing deals on TVs, laptops, cookware sets, used games and much more. This is a limited time sale and is set to end on Sunday morning at 10am ET.

If you’re in the market for a cookware set, then I spotted the T-Fal Easy Strain 10-pc cookware set on sale for just $99.99. Originally priced as high as $399.99, which puts it at 75% off, it comes with the following 10 pieces: 20cm fry pan, 24cm fry pan, 14cm sauce pan, 18cm sauce pan, 20cm sauce pan and 24cm Dutch oven lids. Made of stainless steel, the T-Fal Easy Strain cookware set features a 3mm gauge body that provides even heat distribution and is oven safe to up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s dishwasher safe and unlike a lot of cookware set, comes with glass lids. On Amazon, this same cookware set is currently going for $169.99.

The T-Fal Actifry 2-in-1 deep fryer is also on sale for $249.99 (reg. $329.99). With 1400 watts, it can cook various combination of foods simultaneously like: friends & vegetables, meat & fish, etc. Plus, it also has 4 programs depending on whether you’re cooking: meat, fish, poultry or desserts. That dessert feature is one that got me particularly excited because ever since trying a deep fried chocolate bar at a fish and chips place near my house, that’s all I have been craving for dessert. It also comes with a recipe book and a special measuring spoon. On Amazon, this same deep fryer is on sale for $270 from a $400 regular price.

With the exclusion of Xbox One and PlayStation 4 games, all used games are also currently 50% off. I must warn you that these are selling like hot cakes, so act fast! For any of you with a Wii U, the new Super Mario Brothers can be yours for just $22.50 instead of $44.99. Keep in mind that the discount will be visible at checkout. If the game you want isn’t available online, then you can also try to reserve it in-stores and pick it up on Sunday.

Shipping is free on orders over $25.

Best Buy Canada: Insignia 48″ HDTV $379.99 (Save $90)

Posted by on November 7, 2014 at 3:00 PM

Best Buy Canada: Insignia 48 HDTV $379.99 (Save $90)

Best Buy Canada has a satisfactory deal on this Insignia 48″1080p 60Hz LED TV (NS-48D510NA15) TV right now. Originally $469.99 according to Best Buy, this television is now on sale for $379.99.

Under $400 is a phenomenal price for a 48″ flat screen television with full high definition and Best Buy beats that price marker by $20. For $379.99, you are getting a 48″ screen, full HD 1080p resolution, and a 1920 x 1080 native resolution.

Your TV comes with all the necessary ports including: two HDMI ports, one component video, one A/V (composite), one coaxial cable (RF), one optical digital audio, one headphone jack, one PC audio, and one USB media port as well. While I prefer three HDMI ports (one for the PVR, one for the PS3, and one for my laptop), I actually rarely have more than two items connected at once since I no longer own a PVR. However, I assume most of you do. Two HDMI ports will allow you to have your gaming console and your PVR connected at the same time at least.

On the price-comparing front, I cannot find this TV many places at all. I did find it at Future Shop (Best Buy’s sister store) on sale for $399.98, which is $20 more expensive. If you want to make them price match, then be my guest. I also checked previous deals we have written up on the Bargainmoose. I blogged about this television once before, back in March, when it was on sale for $399.99. This current price of $379.99 is the cheapest I have seen this television.

This television has very good reviews on Best Buy’s website. Out of nine ratings, seven of those are a solid five stars. This reviewer compared it to others TVs they have had:

Tried a RCA 50 in LED tv but the picture quality and colors were poor. This tv has a very good picture with good colors and also has good sound. It was sitting next to a LG and the pictures looked equal. I also have a 39 in insignia which is an excellent tv for the price.

For the price and the size, you really cannot go wrong. You are getting excellent value for your money.

Even though this TV is HUGE, you will still qualify for scheduled delivery for free in most urban areas. I am not sure about rural Canada.

Dell Canada: LG 32-inch LED HDTV Now $230 (Save $120) (EXPIRED)

Posted by on October 16, 2014 at 7:00 PM

Dell Canada: LG 32 inch LED HDTV Now $230 (Save $120) (EXPIRED)

Dell Canada is selling the LG’s 32″ LN530B HD 720p LED TV for just $229.99, originally $349.99. You will also receive free shipping on your television from Dell.

I would not have even dreamed of a brand name 32″ flat screen HDTV for under $300 a few years ago, and yet here they are. I know you can get no-name versions for just under $200 these days, but I would spend the extra $30 or so for a brand such as LG.

Price comparing this unit was very hard as so few places in Canada carry it. I finally found it at two places. Through the Amazon marketplace, you can buy the same model TV for $359.93. Newegg Canada also sells this television. The LG 32LN530B is on sale for $279.99 with $21.99 shipping at

This is a great price and undercuts the price of the same size sale-priced Sony by $70. We recently blogged about that TV. The LG is a great deal for those who want brand name, but want to keep most of their cash in their pocketbooks.

The television is a backlit LED with 720p HD. It also features something called ‘MHL’ that allows you to charge, display, and control your Smartphone on the big screen. I assume this only works with android phones but I would be curious to learn more about it as it sounds like a great feature.

As for ports, the TV has:

  • 2 HDMI
  • 1 USB
  • 1 RF
  • 1 Component
  • 1 Composite
  • 1 Digital Audio Out

I find two HDMI ports the bare minimum a television should have these days, as you want one for your PVR and one for your console. Our television has six HDMI ports, which sounds great, but we never use more than three.

There are a couple negative reviews from people who quite obviously got lemon TVs. For the most part, the TV has excellent reviews averaging a 4.5/5 eggs on Newegg. One reviewer said:

Bought this for my father for father’s day. He had an older TV that was not a flat screen and was not high-def. After setting it up for him, it looks darn good, especially compared to his previous TV.

Other people use them for their spare room and many people use this as their primary television. The price is excellent for this size of television with HD capabilities. This television is part of an up to 50% off sale that Dell currently has.

Sony Canada: Buy A 4K Television And Get A Free PS4 Last Of Us Bundle

Posted by on September 19, 2014 at 8:00 AM

Sony Canada: Buy A 4K Television And Get A Free PS4 Last Of Us Bundle

One of the first things that gamers will do when they get a brand spanking new TV is – you guessed it, they’ll hook up a video game system to it. With today’s deal from Sony, whether you’re a video game fan or not, you’ll be able to do just that! For a limited time, when you purchase a 4K TV from Sony, you’ll also get a free Playstation 4 System with The Last Of Us Remastered! You’ll also qualify for free shipping. If you’re in the market for these newer luxury television sets, it never hurts to get a free PS4 system bundle with it!

4K televisions are the next big thing. They literally have to be seen to be believed! The detail that you can see in the screen of a 4K TV is so intricate, it’s incredible! Even seeing a delicious food dish on a 4K television screen will make your mouth water – the picture is that crisp and clear!

One of the cheapest 4K TVs that you can currently get from The Sony Store is the 49” X850B 4K Ultra HD TV, which is currently on sale for $2099.99 (the regular price is $2299.99). Add in the PS4 Last Of Us bundle (a $449.99 value), and you`d be saving a total of $649.99 – it`s a great bonus for such a big purchase.

I first saw a 4K TV demo at a Best Buy location half a year ago, and it still amazes me. I’m trying my best not to exaggerate, but if you have a chance to see one that’s on display at a retail location like Future Shop or Best Buy, I think you’ll be very impressed with the picture quality on them.

At this time, they’re still pretty pricey, but 4K TVs are still relatively new to the market. At Future Shop, a similar 49 inch Sony 4K TV is currently on sale for $1999.99 ($500 off), while another one is $2129.80 on Amazon. Listed below is a snippet of a review of the 49” X850B 4K Ultra HD TV from a satisfied Sony Store customer:

The colours are bright, motion is smooth, blacks are deep, and I have yet to see an artifact that isn’t the result of Internet streaming. The 4K is very impressive. There isn’t a ton of 4K content out there, but from what I have been able to watch on this unit (a few Netflix shows), this TV handles 4K wonderfully.

For a new and exciting TV experience, perhaps a 4K TV would best suit your needs. If you don`t have the funds for it now, there`s always Boxing Day! Here’s to a great weekend, Bargainmoosers! Happy hunting!

Walmart Canada: RCA 50″ LED HD TV Only $398 (Save $100)

Posted by on September 18, 2014 at 3:00 PM

Walmart Canada: RCA 50 LED HD TV Only $398 (Save $100)

You need to checkout Walmart over the next few days as they just launched their huge anniversary sale with discounts in almost every department. I ran across this beautiful RCA 50″ Direct LED HD TV on sale for just $398, down from $498.

I tried price comparing this TV, but all I could find were refurbished ones that are not available online. However, they are the same televisions so I have added them here to show you the price difference. Factory Direct sells a refurbished RCA 50″ for $449.99 and Angel Electronics sells a refurbished RCA 50″ TV for $499.99. With Walmart, you are paying less and getting a brand new television.

The RCA supports 480i, 480p, 576I, 576p, 720p, 1080i, and 1080P HD. Thus, the TV is full-HD capable for brilliant movie viewing. The screen is thin to keep the unit light while you still enjoy the large screen size. HDMI, composite, and component inputs as well as an integrated ATSC tuner are built into this television for versatility and compatibility with your console, DVD player, and more.

Most reviews on this television are very positive, with only one negative review in the group. This reviewer said:

No complaints, super TV, we love it! however, make sure you are home for delivery, otherwise you will have to pick it up yourself, NO second deliveries!

That is very good advice! Another reviewer mentioned hooking it up to their console:

I just bought this tv and so far I am happy with it,  it was easy to set up and so far the kids like playing their playstation on it Walmart Canada: RCA 50 LED HD TV Only $398 (Save $100) the colors seem good.

A 50″ television for under $400 is a good deal in my books.

Looking for something different? If you are, then feast your eyes on these other TV deals. Pick up an RCA 32″ Direct LED HD TV for just $169 (was $198). Over 250 reviews give this television an average 4.5/5 star rating. While it is a smaller screen, you really cannot beat the price! Perfect for dorm rooms, rec rooms, and even as your main television!

There is also a Samsung 50″ Full HD Smart LED TV on sale for just $648, down from $898. The same Samsung 50″ TV is $748 at You save an extra $100 at Walmart Canada.

Receive free shipping on all orders no matter what the size! As the reviewer above suggests, try to be home in time for your delivery to avoid picking it up from the post office yourself.

Amazon Canada: Six Feet Under Only $63

Posted by on June 9, 2014 at 10:00 AM

Amazon Canada: Six Feet Under Only $63

Amazon Canada has a hot deal on the complete series of Six Feet Under. With a regular price of $174.99, it is now $62.99. If you haven’t seen this series, you are definitely missing out as it is one my most favourite television shows.

Six Feet Under stars Michael C. Hall before he was the iconic Dexter. The show is about a family who runs a funeral home and the complexities that go along with living surrounded by death each day. I always loved the way they’d start the show with some very ironic death that would already have you on the edge of your seat. The entire show will haunt your dreams (in good and bad ways), but it is so dramatic and well done that you probably will have to order food in for a week, as you won’t want to leave your chair to stop watching every episode in the complete series.

As I always say, don’t just take my word for it, check out the reviews. There are 39 reviews with a total of 4.6 stars out of 5. This is because 31 of the reviewers gave it five stars. That is a pretty great rating. One reviewer called it “the epic masterpiece of modern time (and television)”. Another said it was the “best thing I’ve ever seen on television”.

Since this show has come out, there have been some new shows I love just as much like Shameless, Dexter and Breaking Bad. But at the time it was released, nothing could compare to getting my Six Feet Under fix. I would classify it at the same league as Sopranos.

Since you spending over $25, Amazon will ship this series to you absolutely free. It doesn’t look like many stores sell the complete series, so I couldn’t price compare, but the cheapest that I saw it was at Costco, where it was about $10 more.

Dell Canada: Up To $670 Off LG TVs

Dell Canada: Up To $670 Off LG TVs

Dell has a fantastic deal on right now on LG TVs, with up to $670 off select ones.

There are also a number of accessories on sale now for this TV event. My husband is looking for a new TV for after we move as we will actually have a finished basement in our new house. Right now we only have one TV for the five of us and while it isn’t usually a big deal, there are some times when you’d just like to relax and watch an adult movie, but you can’t because Sesame Street is on. My family aren’t the hugest TV watchers, but on rainy days or tired evenings, we do like to sit and relax with some boob tube. The kids also like to play video games, and they can get awful loud, so I’d like it away from my main living space. So a new TV it is. I will be sure to forward him this blog post and see what he’d like to check out.

If we wanted to go really deluxe, we could look at this LG 55-inch LED Smart 3D HDTV with six glasses. I know the kids would love it and the savings are enormous right now. It was originally $1699.99 and now only $1029.99.

I don’t think we want to spend over $1000, but we still want the great savings like $570 off this LG 55-inch LED 1080P HDTV. It also saves us money as it is an Energy Star qualified TV, so my hydros bill won’t go up with two televisions on. This one was originally $1299.99 and now only $729.99 – a great price for a new and large TV.

As an added bonus, Dell offers free shipping on anything you buy.

Newegg Canada: Up To 28% Off LG & Toshiba TVs + Up To $100 Gift Card

Newegg Canada: Up To 28% Off LG & Toshiba TVs + Up To $100 Gift Card

Sure, you could walk or drive over to any electronics store right this second and browse for a new television but do you really want to risk the salesperson upselling you as they always do? Check out instead Newegg’s sale on LG and Toshiba televisions and you could save up to 28% and get up to $100 back via a gift card just by shopping from the comfort of your own home.

Newegg’s promotion includes reductions on the following 5 televisions:

First off, let’s clear up the fact that the word “refurbished” is not one to be scared of. It just means that a part within the given electronic may have been replaced by the manufacturer or quite simply, the box may have been dented during shipping, but the chances of you getting a lemon are really the same as buying a brand spanking new product.

When shopping for a new TV, the main factors I generally take into consideration are the price, size and of course, picture quality. In this case, though, the first choice boasts only 720p, while the others feature 1080p, the price is certainly the most appealing, but that’s only if you’re on the hunt for a relatively small TV – perhaps for the kitchen or a guest room. Otherwise, the last TV on the list, the Toshiba 47TL515UC may be worth considering, especially since it comes with 3D technology, 240HZ and built-in wireless networking. It’s only 13% off the original price but it does also come with a $100 gift card that you can then spend on anything else on Newegg’s site.

Shipping costs are different for each product, so be sure to check those before ordering.

Amazon Canada: Breaking Bad The Complete Series Only $210

Posted by on October 5, 2013 at 6:00 PM

Amazon Canada: Breaking Bad The Complete Series Only $210

If you have tears in your beer because Breaking Bad is over, I share your pain; however, it doesn’t really have to be over. You can watch it all again. Pre-order the complete series on blu-ray at Amazon, and get it for only $209.99, was $250.99. I couldn’t find this show for pre-order anywhere else, and I’m going to say although this price seems high, it is already a bestseller on Amazon’s list. The price could possibly go up after release. Also, if the price goes down before release, you’ll get the lower price.

If you have never seen Breaking Bad, you have truly missed out on one of the greatest shows I’ve ever watched. You almost have to order this set just to make up for missing it, while you could have watched it on television. Easy synopsis: a high school chemistry teacher is diagnosed with lung cancer and realizes he has no money to leave his family, so he starts making meth. The twists, turns, rushes and anxiety of this show will leave you breathless on many an occasion. In your wildest dreams, you couldn’t imagine where this show would end up.

I think this set would make an amazing gift under the Christmas tree for the Breaking Bad lover or someone who hasn’t seen the show. It has some fun features, too. It comes in a collectible replica money barrel, a 16-page booklet with letter from Vince Gilligan (the creator), a commemorative challenge coin designed by Vince Gilligan,  and a Los Pollos Hermanos apron (you’ll have to watch to find out what that is about). You won’t just get the full series, you’ll also get over 55 hours of special features from all seasons and an all-new two hour documentary.

Shipping is free.

December 21 Pre-Boxing Week Shop-a-Thon: Awesome TV Deals

Posted by on December 21, 2012 at 5:30 PM Pre Boxing Week Shop a Thon: Awesome TV Deals has some great deals on LED and LCD TV’s for their Pre-Boxing Week Sale.  Sale is valid for a limited time while quantities last.

I’m a little excited about this Samsung 39” 1080p 60Hz LED HDTV that was $549.99 and is now $398.99.  That’s 27% off, and at these larger prices, that’s huge.  This TV is the perfect size for my living room and I love the thinness of it, leaving tons of room for everything else. Looking elsewhere to price compare this HDTV, Sears has it for $670, Costco has it for $550 and it’s $660 at NCIX. That makes this quite a deal!

How about this 19” Hi-Definition LCD Flat Panel TV w/built in DVD that was $667.19 and is now 40% off at $398?  This is nice, with a 19” LCD screen and built in progressive scan DVD player.  It’s compatible with 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i, has built-in speakers, a removable base stand and it’s even wall mount compatible.  What a great bedroom TV.

I also found this 32” Energy Star TV, LED, HD TV that was $449.99 and is now only $349.99.  That’s a whopping 22% off the regular price.  I love these last-minute sales.

Shipping: Free on most TV’s.

November 28 55% off Entire Series of Rescue Me (Save $53)

Posted by on November 28, 2012 at 12:48 PM 55% off Entire Series of Rescue Me (Save $53)

Amazon’s Week of Cyber Monday deals continues on with another great TV series on DVD.

The regular price on this is $95.99 but you save $52 and only end up paying $42.99. You can barely buy two somewhat new-ish movies on DVD for that much. A movie ticket and snacks for you and a homeless guy you found bumming money outside of a Del Taco in Spring, Texas, would cost you more than that.

I haven’t seen this show before but I know a lot of people dig it. I guess people would have to have liked it for it to run for seven seasons.

Like I said though, I’ve not seen it so here is a nice, concise review from someone who bought it at

Rescue Me shows a great balance between dark and light comedy/drama, of all of life problems post 9/11, for a fire crew in a firehouse in New York City, and how all of them deal in their own ways with their personal demons, but having a lot of comedy to balance the serious content in the show.

Sounds like a pretty good show and probably right up my wife’s aisle (I’m more of a sitcom kinda guy) so I think I’ll point it out to her. In any event, if you are already a fan or are looking for something new, this is a great buy.
