Amazon Canada: Six Feet Under Only $63

Amazon Canada: Six Feet Under Only $63

Amazon Canada has a hot deal on the complete series of Six Feet Under. With a regular price of $174.99, it is now $62.99. If you haven’t seen this series, you are definitely missing out as it is one my most favourite television shows.

Six Feet Under stars Michael C. Hall before he was the iconic Dexter. The show is about a family who runs a funeral home and the complexities that go along with living surrounded by death each day. I always loved the way they’d start the show with some very ironic death that would already have you on the edge of your seat. The entire show will haunt your dreams (in good and bad ways), but it is so dramatic and well done that you probably will have to order food in for a week, as you won’t want to leave your chair to stop watching every episode in the complete series.

As I always say, don’t just take my word for it, check out the reviews. There are 39 reviews with a total of 4.6 stars out of 5. This is because 31 of the reviewers gave it five stars. That is a pretty great rating. One reviewer called it “the epic masterpiece of modern time (and television)”. Another said it was the “best thing I’ve ever seen on television”.

Since this show has come out, there have been some new shows I love just as much like Shameless, Dexter and Breaking Bad. But at the time it was released, nothing could compare to getting my Six Feet Under fix. I would classify it at the same league as Sopranos.

Since you spending over $25, Amazon will ship this series to you absolutely free. It doesn’t look like many stores sell the complete series, so I couldn’t price compare, but the cheapest that I saw it was at Costco, where it was about $10 more.

Dell Canada: Up To $670 Off LG TVs

Dell Canada: Up To $670 Off LG TVs

Dell has a fantastic deal on right now on LG TVs, with up to $670 off select ones.

There are also a number of accessories on sale now for this TV event. My husband is looking for a new TV for after we move as we will actually have a finished basement in our new house. Right now we only have one TV for the five of us and while it isn’t usually a big deal, there are some times when you’d just like to relax and watch an adult movie, but you can’t because Sesame Street is on. My family aren’t the hugest TV watchers, but on rainy days or tired evenings, we do like to sit and relax with some boob tube. The kids also like to play video games, and they can get awful loud, so I’d like it away from my main living space. So a new TV it is. I will be sure to forward him this blog post and see what he’d like to check out.

If we wanted to go really deluxe, we could look at this LG 55-inch LED Smart 3D HDTV with six glasses. I know the kids would love it and the savings are enormous right now. It was originally $1699.99 and now only $1029.99.

I don’t think we want to spend over $1000, but we still want the great savings like $570 off this LG 55-inch LED 1080P HDTV. It also saves us money as it is an Energy Star qualified TV, so my hydros bill won’t go up with two televisions on. This one was originally $1299.99 and now only $729.99 – a great price for a new and large TV.

As an added bonus, Dell offers free shipping on anything you buy.

Newegg Canada: Up To 28% Off LG & Toshiba TVs + Up To $100 Gift Card

Newegg Canada: Up To 28% Off LG & Toshiba TVs + Up To $100 Gift Card

Sure, you could walk or drive over to any electronics store right this second and browse for a new television but do you really want to risk the salesperson upselling you as they always do? Check out instead Newegg’s sale on LG and Toshiba televisions and you could save up to 28% and get up to $100 back via a gift card just by shopping from the comfort of your own home.

Newegg’s promotion includes reductions on the following 5 televisions:

First off, let’s clear up the fact that the word “refurbished” is not one to be scared of. It just means that a part within the given electronic may have been replaced by the manufacturer or quite simply, the box may have been dented during shipping, but the chances of you getting a lemon are really the same as buying a brand spanking new product.

When shopping for a new TV, the main factors I generally take into consideration are the price, size and of course, picture quality. In this case, though, the first choice boasts only 720p, while the others feature 1080p, the price is certainly the most appealing, but that’s only if you’re on the hunt for a relatively small TV – perhaps for the kitchen or a guest room. Otherwise, the last TV on the list, the Toshiba 47TL515UC may be worth considering, especially since it comes with 3D technology, 240HZ and built-in wireless networking. It’s only 13% off the original price but it does also come with a $100 gift card that you can then spend on anything else on Newegg’s site.

Shipping costs are different for each product, so be sure to check those before ordering.

Amazon Canada: Breaking Bad The Complete Series Only $210

Amazon Canada: Breaking Bad The Complete Series Only $210

If you have tears in your beer because Breaking Bad is over, I share your pain; however, it doesn’t really have to be over. You can watch it all again. Pre-order the complete series on blu-ray at Amazon, and get it for only $209.99, was $250.99. I couldn’t find this show for pre-order anywhere else, and I’m going to say although this price seems high, it is already a bestseller on Amazon’s list. The price could possibly go up after release. Also, if the price goes down before release, you’ll get the lower price.

If you have never seen Breaking Bad, you have truly missed out on one of the greatest shows I’ve ever watched. You almost have to order this set just to make up for missing it, while you could have watched it on television. Easy synopsis: a high school chemistry teacher is diagnosed with lung cancer and realizes he has no money to leave his family, so he starts making meth. The twists, turns, rushes and anxiety of this show will leave you breathless on many an occasion. In your wildest dreams, you couldn’t imagine where this show would end up.

I think this set would make an amazing gift under the Christmas tree for the Breaking Bad lover or someone who hasn’t seen the show. It has some fun features, too. It comes in a collectible replica money barrel, a 16-page booklet with letter from Vince Gilligan (the creator), a commemorative challenge coin designed by Vince Gilligan,  and a Los Pollos Hermanos apron (you’ll have to watch to find out what that is about). You won’t just get the full series, you’ll also get over 55 hours of special features from all seasons and an all-new two hour documentary.

Shipping is free.

Shop.ca Pre-Boxing Week Shop-a-Thon: Awesome TV Deals

Shop.ca Pre Boxing Week Shop a Thon: Awesome TV Deals

Shop.ca has some great deals on LED and LCD TV’s for their Pre-Boxing Week Sale.  Sale is valid for a limited time while quantities last.

I’m a little excited about this Samsung 39” 1080p 60Hz LED HDTV that was $549.99 and is now $398.99.  That’s 27% off, and at these larger prices, that’s huge.  This TV is the perfect size for my living room and I love the thinness of it, leaving tons of room for everything else. Looking elsewhere to price compare this HDTV, Sears has it for $670, Costco has it for $550 and it’s $660 at NCIX. That makes this quite a deal!

How about this 19” Hi-Definition LCD Flat Panel TV w/built in DVD that was $667.19 and is now 40% off at $398?  This is nice, with a 19” LCD screen and built in progressive scan DVD player.  It’s compatible with 480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i, has built-in speakers, a removable base stand and it’s even wall mount compatible.  What a great bedroom TV.

I also found this 32” Energy Star TV, LED, HD TV that was $449.99 and is now only $349.99.  That’s a whopping 22% off the regular price.  I love these last-minute sales.

Shipping: Free on most TV’s.

Amazon.ca: 55% off Entire Series of Rescue Me (Save $53)

Amazon.ca: 55% off Entire Series of Rescue Me (Save $53)

Amazon’s Week of Cyber Monday deals continues on with another great TV series on DVD.

The regular price on this is $95.99 but you save $52 and only end up paying $42.99. You can barely buy two somewhat new-ish movies on DVD for that much. A movie ticket and snacks for you and a homeless guy you found bumming money outside of a Del Taco in Spring, Texas, would cost you more than that.

I haven’t seen this show before but I know a lot of people dig it. I guess people would have to have liked it for it to run for seven seasons.

Like I said though, I’ve not seen it so here is a nice, concise review from someone who bought it at Amazon.ca:

Rescue Me shows a great balance between dark and light comedy/drama, of all of life problems post 9/11, for a fire crew in a firehouse in New York City, and how all of them deal in their own ways with their personal demons, but having a lot of comedy to balance the serious content in the show.

Sounds like a pretty good show and probably right up my wife’s aisle (I’m more of a sitcom kinda guy) so I think I’ll point it out to her. In any event, if you are already a fan or are looking for something new, this is a great buy.
