This offer is only available to college and university students. When you buy Microsoft Office Home & Student 2010 you can receive 3 additional applications for free: Outlook, Access and Publisher.

You can buy 1 licence for $128 or split the cost with friends and get 3 licenses for $138. Home & Student 2010 comes with Word, Excel, Power Point and OneNote. I’m not sure the value of the additional applications… but it would probably be nice to have the entire collection as a student.

Apple Canada: $100 Rebate on HP Printers with MAC Computer Purchase

Posted by Avigayil Morris on July 5, 2011 at 1:00 PM

Apple Canada: $100 Rebate on HP Printers with MAC Computer Purchase

So Jodie posted here about the fabulous back to school promotion that Apple is having: buy a computer and get a $100 gift card for the app store. Fabulous. A lesser known deal is that if you buy an HP printer from the apple store with your computer you can get $100 back. These promotions can be combined.

The HP printer and the MAC computer must be on the same receipt: then you are golden. Get this: HP printers start at $100, so you are essentially getting a new printer FOR FREE, or just for the cost of the tax. It is worth the trouble to send in the rebate form, receipt and codes.

I just gave in and replaced my computer. As a university student I got $100 off my new macbook pro, got the free $100 gift card to the app store, plus bought an HP printer for essentially $20 ($120, then take off the $100 rebate). I decided to pay the extra $20 to get the wireless printing feature: with it I can print directly from my iPad. Apple Canada: $100 Rebate on HP Printers with MAC Computer Purchase

Stack your deals people! Apple Canada: $100 Rebate on HP Printers with MAC Computer Purchase Be sure to check out the rebate form for qualifying printers.

Buy A Mac For School And Get A $100 Gift Card To Spend At The Mac App Store

Posted by Jodie Wilson on June 22, 2011 at 4:00 PM

If you are a  post-secondary student, parent purchasing for post-secondary student, or faculty and staff member at all grade levels, when you buy a new Mac with Apple education pricing  until 20th September, 2011, you’ll get a $100 Back to School Card.

When you buy a qualifying Mac from The Apple Store for Education, an Apple retail store or a participating Apple Authorized Campus Store, you’ll receive a $100 Back to School Card for use on the Mac App Store, the iTunes Store, the App Store, and the iBookstore.

Qualifying Mac must be purchased using Apple’s Education Individual Pricing. If the qualifying Mac is returned, and the Back to School Card has been redeemed by depositing its value into an iTunes account (even if no purchases have been made against the value of the Back to School Card), then the $100 will be deducted from the exchange or refund. Terms and conditions apply. Not all Apple products qualify for education pricing.

Apple offers special education pricing on Apple computers, software, and select third-party products to Post-Secondary Students, Parents buying for a Post-Secondary Student, or Teachers, Administrators, and Staff at all grade levels. Quantity limits apply.

As my PC repeatedly shuts down, I would love, love, love to get a Mac. So far, I’m happy with my iPod and iPad! Not sure I’m ready to make the upgrade just yet, but when I do, I’ll be seriously looking at a new Macbook.

SPC Cards For $9 With $10 Free Gift Cards (Min Spend Required)

Posted by Anna Waters on June 5, 2011 at 5:00 PM

SPC Cards For $9 With $10 Free Gift Cards (Min Spend Required)

Here’s a dealio for the smarty student Bargainmoosers. You can pre-order the 2011-2012 SPC card for a price of $9 (+$2 shipping) now and with that you can choose a $10 gift card for various stores. The gift cards all have min spends which I will detail below.

    Choices of free gift cards:

    • $10 off $50 @ Suzy Shier
    • $10 off $50 @ Buffalo David Bitton
    • $10 off $25 @ Jean Machine
    • $10 off $50 @ Danier
    • $10 off $35 @ The Body Shop
    • $10 off $79 @ Bench

So if you were going to order an SPC card anyway, then you might as well get one of the $10 discount cards too. It’s a bit of a shame that they all have minimum spends attached. If I was buying one, I’d go for The Jean Machine gift card as it has a pretty reasonable minimum spend, and you can never have enough pairs of jeans!

There’s sometimes  bit of confusion as to who can use the SPC card and where you can use it. Many stores accept it, but you’ll almost always get asked for your student ID along with the SPC card, as you really need both to validly claim a discount.

SPC: $10 off $20 Purchase at The Body Shop I am trying to get my hubby to use more lotion because his skin is always dry. The Body Shop is helping me out: He loves the scent of the Almond Body Butter and thus will apply it more often that other stuff.

You know: if you buy exactly $20 worth of stuff, that is 50% off!

University Survival Guide – iTunes App Style

Posted by Avigayil Morris on January 11, 2011 at 5:00 PM

University Survival Guide iTunes App Style

I recently got sent an invaluable resource by iTunes, and I use that word rarely.. so it means something to me. While I was wandering through my weekend email from iTunes about the recent crap music and TV shows that are out to buy/pre order, and all the various things I don’t need and am not going to buy… I spied an icon that said University Survival Guide. Honestly, this guide applies to anyone in any sort of education, be it junior high, high school, college, part-time, or university. Being in university and trying to find a way to better manage my course load I checked it out.

The Basics: The University Survival Guide is a selection of 39 Apps compatible with either your iTouch, iPad, or iPhone that make your life as a student easier. They costing between $0 to $24.99. They range from fun stuff like Facebook, Twitter, Rate My Proff – to your note taking apps like InClass and Momento. There are your dictionary apps… and if you are writing any papers you will recognise the need for My APA or My MLA, whichever one you are required to abide by. There is even a Shakespeare Pro app, if you are having some difficulties (who doesn’t have problems with the bard?).

My review: So far some apps have been hit and miss, but the hits have been right on. My favourite app that I now couldn’t live without is inClass. I take notes on it, and I have them organized by term, class, date, proff, etc. It is simple.. effective.. colour coded. It is WONDERFUL! I will soon be buying My APA as I am a Psyc student, and we live by the APA law. Wunderlist looks promising but it is designed for a iPhone not an iPad so I am hoping to find an iPad equivalent. I haven’t made it through even all the free apps yet, but they do have some really great stuff there.

I highly suggest checkout out this list. If you have any need to get your life/schedule organized or need help writing this is a great list of apps.

Baskin Robbins joins Student Price Card

Posted by Avigayil Morris on January 9, 2011 at 4:30 PM

Baskin Robbins joins Student Price Card

Baskin Robbins has teamed up with SPC to offer you more ice cream for your money, who can resist? Students need sugar! With SPC card in hand you can upsize any regular beverage or sundae to a large for free. A large sundae… yummmmmm! Baskin Robbins joins Student Price Card

Don’t forget about the Baskin Robbins’ birthday club, which will give you a coupon for a free ice cream on your birthday too. More ice cream for less is an excellent deal. I think the SPC card is redeeming itself since the loss of some major companies from it this last year.

Don’t forget, the SPC card is only $10! Whether you are a part time student or full time student… in junior high.. high school, college or university, order your SPC card to save.

OfficeforMac: Save $40 on Office 2011 for Mac ($119)

Posted by Avigayil Morris on December 28, 2010 at 11:00 AM

OfficeforMac: Save $40 on Office 2011 for Mac ($119)

OfficeforMac is offering the illustrious Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac Home & Student edition for $40 off it’s usual price of $159. It is the downloadable version off their website. I would suggest after you download it, back it up. I have recovered my 2007 version that way when the hard drive went on my laptop!

Now I know their are two camps, those who are against anything Microsoft ever touching a Mac. Then there are those who don’t care or who are willing. I fall into the latter, primarily because Office for Mac makes my documents compatible with my teachers, and I can open powerpoints and other docs my teachers use in class. Thus, I honestly don’t think I could uni. without it.

    Offer Expires 6th, January 2011.

The Gap and Banana Republic join SPC

I have been wondering since The Bay left the Student Price Card why I have one. So when I opened my email to find out that The Gap and Banana Republic have joined SPC, it was like a little wish had come true. Not only that, it is a decent 15% off all regular priced items.

Unfortunately, it does not include sale items, or their factory or outlet stores. But this is a good start.

    Bookbyte Coupon Code: $5 Discount

Posted by Avigayil Morris on December 10, 2010 at 11:00 AM

    Bookbyte Coupon Code: $5 Discount

Bookbyte is a US textbook company (bills in USD), just wanted to make sure you guys know that. But over the last 1 and 1/2 years I have purchased about 2x textbooks a semester from them, and been pretty happy with them! Infact, this coming semester I am tickled pink. Not only did I get a great deal on two textbooks (will say more later) but I also found a coupon to get an extra $5 off my order.

    • Coupon Code: save5
    • Discount: $5
    • Expires: ?

I just finished ordering 2 textbooks from Bookbyte. I ended up ordering them separately because I had found one of the textbooks here for a reasonable price, but then the deal fell through. So I did pay seperate shipping for the textbooks, but I did get to use the coupon on each shipment. Shipping for each textbook to Canada was only $11. They ship via USPS Priority, and I have never had to pay duty to USPS yet *crosses fingers* The following is why I am tickled pink:

    Abnormal Psyc Textbook:

    • University Price New: $139.00 CAN
    • University Price Used: $105.00 CAN
    • Bought at Bookbyte for: $62.54 CAN (including shipping and taxes)

    Methods in Research Textbook:

    • University Price New: $136.00 CAN
    • University Price Used: $102.00 CAN
    • Bought at Bookbyte for: $67.92 CAN (including shipping and taxes)

I looked at Chapters, Amazon.ca, EVERYWHERE… and I keep coming back to Bookbyte every semester for at least 1 – 2 of my textbooks. If I can’t buy them off other students Bookbyte is almost always the cheapest.

Anywho, if there are any university students out there, I KNOW how expensive textbooks can be. Try shopping online for them. They do take a few weeks to come in, so I would say buy now so they come in for January.
