Staples Canada: Electronic Security Safe & Portable Safe Combo Now $50 (Save $50)

Posted by on September 12, 2014 at 7:00 PM

Staples Canada: Electronic Security Safe & Portable Safe Combo Now $50 (Save $50)

My husband often quotes Elmer the Elephant who, evidently, said “Safety first.” While that can get quite annoying, I do believe safety is important especially when it comes to protective expensive items we buy.  Staples Canada has an excellent deal on an Electronic Security Safe and Portable Combination Safe Combo to keep your electronics, paperwork, jewelry, and other valuables secure. Originally $99.98, the set of safes is on sale for $50 with free shipping (as the safes cost over $45 – the minimum for free shipping).

This deal includes two safes: an electronic security safe and a portable combination safe. Both are made out of durable steel.

The Electronic safe measures 5.8” high by 17.5” wide by 13.6” deep. It is big enough for a decent sized laptop, a tablet, and any paperwork you need to keep secure. It has a programmable lock with a key override for quick access and as an added safety measure in case you forget your lock combination. The double walled steel box provides extra safety, and it comes with a carrying handle for transportation. This safe retails for $79.92 by itself and has a shipping weight of 14 lbs.

The Portable combination safe measures 2.6” high by 5.9” wide by 8” deep. While you may be wondering what you need a portable safe for, it is as excellent extra safety measure for storing your valuables while not at home. Keep it in the car in case you need to leave any valuables in your car at any time. Take it to the gym and put it in your locker to store your keys, phone, and wallet while you are at the gym or swimming pool. A couple years ago, there was a rash of locker break-ins at my university so combination safes are just another way to give yourself an extra layer of protection. This safe appears to no longer be sold individually.

$50 is a very reasonable price for two safes. Given the lower price range, do keep in mind that you get what you pay for. These safes are not going to be the highest quality but they should take care of the basics. I have no experience with safes myself, so I cannot comment as to the quality of this brand. If anyone else owns this brand of safes and would like to voice their opinion, feel free to comment below!

$120 Off HP Officejet Wireless All-In-One Printer + Free Paper Ream + Free Shipping @ Staples Canada

Posted by on September 8, 2014 at 7:00 PM

$120 Off HP Officejet Wireless All In One Printer + Free Paper Ream + Free Shipping @ Staples Canada

Here’s a back to school deal that you surely won’t want to miss. Head on over to Staples to get the HP Officejet (6700) wireless all-in-one colour inkjet printer for just $69.94. It was originally priced at $189.94, which puts it at a 61% discount ($120 off). You will also get a paper ream for free with your purchase and since Staples usually ships all orders over $45 for free, your order will also qualify for free shipping.

Although I don’t have this specific model, I have always had an HP printer and never had any issues with any of them. This one in particular features up to 16ppm and up to 9ppm. It also has AirPrint capabilities, which means that you can print documents directly from your phone as long as the printer is connected to Wi-Fi. It also boasts over 45 reviews with 4.3 stars out of 5.

As for a price comparison, Tiger Direct is selling this printer for $89.99, while the HP Store has it on sale for $79.99 from a regular price of $189.99.

Valued at $7.36, you will also get a free HP FSC-Certified multipurpose paper ream with the purchase HP Office 6700 printer and if you want to add more than one paper ream, then you can also get it on sale right now for $4.99. I had to admit that at first, I had no clue what exactly a paper ream is. As it turns out, in this case, it’s actually a pack of 500 printer sheets with a total weight of 20 lbs. At a size of 8-1/2″ x 11″, they are also 96 bright, which will enhance the brightness and hence, the contrast, on any document or anything else that you print. According to the product details, this paper ream is also manufactured with ColorLok Technology, which “produces colours up to 30% more vivid and blacks up to 60% bolder than ordinary papers and dries up to three times faster for fewer smears”.

Plus, if you decide to get more than one paper ream, then you will be happy to know that 20% of all proceeds are also donated to the Canadian Cancer Society for breast cancer research. Although this paper ream isn’t all that pricey to begin with, especially since it’s currently on sale, every penny counts nonetheless! If you want to donate to the Canadian Cancer Society directly, then you can that as well through their site.

Staples Canada: HP Multipurpose Paper 20LB Case $49.90 (Save $16)

Posted by on September 2, 2014 at 2:23 PM

Staples Canada: HP Multipurpose Paper 20LB Case $49.90 (Save $16)
Staples Canada has discounted this case of HP FSC-Certified Multipurpose Paper, 20 lb. 8 1/2″ x 11″ to $49.90, originally $65.85. This sale price is even slightly better than a case of the cheapest Staples brand copy paper.

This paper is 96 bright and acid-free. It is manufactured with ColorLok Technology, which:

produces colours up to 30% more vivid and blacks up to 60% bolder than ordinary papers and dries up to three times faster for fewer smears

You can use this paper in a two-sided printer or copier with its extra smooth surface. I did not know this, but HP donates 20% off the proceeds from each case of paper to the Canadian Cancer Society for breast cancer research. That is pretty cool.

I couldn’t find these cases of paper very many places, but I did find the same HP case at Office Depot for $64.99. For small businesses and for families with many children in school, you will find yourself going through paper at an exceedingly high rate. This box includes 5000 pages. As a university student, I went through around 400 – 500 pages per year just by myself. I hated wasting that much paper, but between rough drafts, printing out articles for research, and then printing out papers to submit I went through so much paper per year. My parents run their own business and between invoices, quotes, contracts, and all the other paperwork necessary to run a small business in Canada, a case-lot of paper was purchased every couple of years.

I currently run HP paper in my HP printer with HP ink (wow, they match!), and for the most part the paper is cooperative. My husband was actually impressed with the quality of the combination when I photocopied our licenses recently for some banking stuff. The photocopies were incredible replicas of the original, which I credit to the quality of the HP combo above. I have had horrible copy paper before (the kind your printer eats for breakfast, lunch, and dinner), and HP’s paper is a step above in my opinion.

This product has 37 reviews for 4/5 stars. As this reviewer comments:

I need to print a lot of sheet music at home no matter in color or black/white, these papers never fail me.

The only downside of this deal is that it ends today. On the upside, this case of paper ships to you for free because it costs over $45.

Back to School Stationery Deals Roundup

Back to School Stationery Deals Roundup

I was shopping yesterday for some groceries and ended up finding some great back to school stationery deals that I thought I would share with you. This is the perfect time of year to get back to school supplies for your kids (or yourself maybe) because there are so many sales happening.

Here is a look at some of the awesome deals you will be able to get right now:

Walmart:

I have already found and bought some incredible deals from Walmart Canada for myself and my kids. Quite possibly the best deal I found was this Crayola coloured pencils that were $4.97 and are now on sale for just $0.97 each.  I ended up grabbing about 10 of them.  Why would I grab so many you ask?  Simple, grab bags for birthday parties for my son in a few months.  I always try to think ahead at what I can use these deals for.

Another awesome deal I found was this pack of Crayola crayons that were $2 each and are now on sale for just $0.25!  That is a crazy deal!  It is so good in fact I grabbed 20 of them!  I got enough for birthday parties, school, Christmas stockings and shoe boxes for Christmas for donations.

If you are looking for pens, you can get these Paper Mate Write Bros pack of pens for just $1 when the regular price was $1.97.  It is 10 pens in total. All of these deals will get free shipping so you wont have to leave your house to shop and you won’t have to pay for shipping.  It is a win/win situation.

Staples:

They have a lot of back to school deals on right now and they have actually made shopping online even easier.  They have categories for ages groups and the school supplies they will need.

You can get these BIC permanent markers that were $8.49 and are now just $5.49. They also have pencil boxes that were $2.96 on sale for just $1.92 each.

As for the cost of shipping, it will depend on how much your order is.  Staples offers free in-store pick up and free shipping on orders over $45. Orders under $45 are shipped at $15. If you are just grabbing some small supplies, I would suggest the in-store pick up.

Michaels:

For Michaels, the first place to start is actually on the Bargainmoose coupon forum.  You can click through and see all of the printable coupon offered each week.  You will want to shop in store for them and when you pair some of their deals with their coupons, you can save huge.  This week, their printable coupons are worth up to 65% off the regular prices.

What back to school deals have you been finding?

Back to School Backpack Deals Roundup

Back to School Backpack Deals Roundup

I can’t believe that kids will be heading back to school in just a couple of short weeks. Instead of doing our regular weekly printable coupon roundup this week, I though I would let you know about all of the great back to school backpack deals. Backpacks are an obvious must for students young and old and they are something that usually only last about a year with all of the use they get.

Walmart Canada

One of the first places I check for back to school is always Walmart Canada, not only are they one stop shopping with supplies, lunch food, clothing and shoes, they are also very affordable.  Additionally, when you shop for items at Walmart Canada online, you will get free shipping as well.  You really cant beat that!

Right now, they have backpacks as low as just $5. How cute is this Disney Princess backpack for just $7? I also think this Athletic Works backpack priced at just $5 is a really incredible deal. It comes in a variety of colours to choose from.

Staples Canada

I was actually surprised to see how great the backpack deals are at Staples right now because they are rivaling all of their competitors with some great prices.  Their backpacks start at just $4.98 on sale which even beats Walmarts prices! Staples offers free in-store pick up and free shipping on orders over $45.

I love this High Sierra Impact backpack that was $20 and is now on sale for just $17.  As you are looking through the rest of the deals, you will want to be aware that some of the backpack deals at Staples Canada are only available in stores.

Sears Canada

Sears has a lot of backpacks on sale right now that would suit preschoolers all the way up to college students.  Make sure to check out the individual expiry dates because some of the deals are  only valid this week only.  Some of them are on sale up to September 4th 2014 so you will have to pay attention to the details.

One of my favourite backpack deals that I found at Sears Canada would have to be this Roots girls backpack.  It was $39.99 and it is now on sale until August 21st for just $23.99.

When you are looking at all of the backpack deals, keep in mind that most backpacks will only last your child the one year.  Even if they are great quality and last longer, they will most likely want a new one the next year anyways.  Make sure they are big enough for your kids school supplies, extra clothes and lunches and whatever else they may need to bring to school.

Staples Canada: Dirt Devil Quick Lite Vacuum Only $50 (Was $90)

Posted by on August 18, 2014 at 10:30 AM

Staples Canada: Dirt Devil Quick Lite Vacuum Only $50 (Was $90)

If you are looking for a handy little vacuum for your dorm or new apartment, Staples has a great deal on. Get the Dirt Devil Lite Plus cyclonic compact vacuum for only $49.96, with a regular price of $89.96.

This looks like quite the vacuum for under $50. Totally light-weight, it is only 9lbs. It is so light, my kids could use it. Hmmm… maybe I should pick one up for them and get them to help out a little more around here! Even though it is light, it is still powerful with a 7 amp motor. It also has a HEPA filter that traps 99.97% of dirt, dust and pollens down to 0.3 microns, which sounds like quite a lot! The hose is 8′ long and the power cord is 20′ so I’m sure you could get your entire apartment clean starting from one spot.

The vacuum also comes with a crevice tool and an upholstery tool. This little lady has it all!

You might be thinking that a vacuum this cheap might be a piece of crap. Well, its not. There are quite a few reviews on the website, and it has an overall rating of 4.1 stars out of five. I even wonder if it does a better job than some of the more expensive vacuums out there.

This powerful little machine picks up dirt my other vacuum left behind on both carpets & bare floors.

I like how easy it was to put together. It cleans efficiently and fast and it is light weight making cleaning easier and more enjoyable. It is very easy to clean out and maintain because of it’s neat compartments.

Downfalls include that its a little loud and that the power cord might not be long enough, although I think its plenty long. I also don’t mind loud vacuums as they help drown out the noise of the kids when I need a break from whining or fighting. Staples Canada: Dirt Devil Quick Lite Vacuum Only $50 (Was $90)

This vacuum will also ship for free from Staples.

Diamond Task Chair Only $70 & Free Shipping @ Staples Canada

Posted by on August 17, 2014 at 1:00 PM

Diamond Task Chair Only $70 & Free Shipping @ Staples Canada

There are a few office chairs on special offer at Staples Canada just now, one of those being the Grey Diamond Task Chair. Originally priced at $99.84, it’s dropped by some $30, down to only $69.84. And as that is over the $45 minimum spend for free shipping from Staples, you’ll also get free delivyer to your home.

Click here to get your office chair @ Staples.ca now

Some quick specs on this discounted office chair at Staples Canada:

  • Pneumatic seat-height adjustment
  • Thick padded, contoured seat & back with built-in lumbar support
  • Heavy-duty nylon base with dual-wheel carpet casters
  • 5-year limited warranty

I was browsing round other chairs and most seemed to come with a one year warranty as standard, so I was surprised to see that there’s five year coverage on this particular model. Whenever you buy an inexpensive model such as this, you’d really only expect it to last a few years without ripping or the seat losing its cushioning from usage. But with a five year warranty (though limited), you’ve got a little extra peace of mind there.

If this office chair happens to go out of stock, or if you want a slight upgrade, consider the Staples Fabric Task Chair which is priced at $79.85. It comes with armrests so it might be a better choice if you’re sitting on it for longer periods of time. That one comes in either blue or grey, so you can search for either model on the Staples site.

And while you’re there shopping on Staples, and you’re getting free shipping from buying the above office chair, consider throwing some other small items in to your cart. There’s a back-to-school centre in which you can check out many of the deals. For example, these Crayola Coloured Pencils, 24/Pack are only $0.94. Throw them in your cart too!

Staples Canada: LG Smart 3D Blu-ray Player only $79 (Was $139) Today Only (Expired)

Posted by on August 11, 2014 at 1:00 PM

Staples Canada: LG Smart 3D Blu ray Player only $79 (Was $139) Today Only (Expired)

Staples has a hot deal out for today on the LG Smart 2D blu-ray player with wi-fi, which is now only $79 with a regular price of $139.

I think I may be one of the last people in the world to have a blu-ray player. I’m not sure why we haven’t delved into this technology, but I’m thinking now is the time, since this deal makes this blu-ray player under $80 and it will include free shipping. With winter coming living in the snow belt,  I know I’m going to need some movies to watch!

The Specs:

This blu-ray player has built-in wi-fi, 3D blu-ray playing capabilities and you can wirelessly send audio form your TV to your smartphone. Using the remote, you can have access to thousands of movies, apps and more on the web.

The Price:

You know the price, but what does it sell for elsewhere? Dell has it selling for more than Staples’ regular price at $149.99. Walmart, the king of deals, also sells it for more than regular price at $148. Visions has it cheaper than the other competitors at $118.

Reviews:

There are four reviews on the Staples site, which give it a total of four out of five stars. You could also check the Dell and Walmart sites, which have quite a few reviews as well. This one summed up the player for me:

Great picture quality. Love the wireless streaming. Satisfied with purchase.

Another person who wasn’t quite as satisfied said the following:

Overall, I think this player is good option if you need Netflix or 3D.

Shipping:

This item will ship to you for free, so no need to worry about extra fees at checkout, besides the taxes of course.

I wouldn’t wait to get your hands on this, something tells me it will sell out quite quickly and I’ll have a lot of disappointed Moosers sending me comments that it is out of stock.

Staples.ca: HP Deskjet 1513 Colour All-in-One Inkjet Printer $19.98 (Reg. $60)

Posted by on July 31, 2014 at 8:00 AM

Staples.ca: HP Deskjet 1513 Colour All in One Inkjet Printer $19.98 (Reg. $60)

If you are anything like me, you are starting to prepare for the craziness that is back to school season.  Here’s a great deal to get you started (if you haven’t already): get the HP Deskjet 1513 Colour Inkjet All-in-One Printer for only $19.98 (reg. $59.98) from Staples.ca!

Have you ever been without a printer when you really needed one?  I have. It’s awful. Asking around to get someone to print that one important document you absolutely require is pretty stressful, so take the stress away by getting this printer for under $20.  My kids are getting to the age where they really like to use the computer themselves. We have the option of having some homework emailed home, so I’m thinking that this would be an inexpensive way to get a second printer for them, making sure that they aren’t eating up the ink in my printer when I need it.

The HP Deskjet 1513 Colour Inkjet All-in-One Printer really does it all: printing, scanning, and copying easily at the push of a button. It has a quick set up and simple operation with high capacity ink cartridges that help you print more for less.  It’s also got a compact design to fit into the tightest office spaces.

The technical stuff:

Here are some of the features of the HP Deskjet 1513:

  • Manual Duplex Printing (two-sided printing)
  • HP Thermal Inkjet
  • Print Quality (best): up to 600 x 1200 black; up to 4800 x 1200 colour
  • 60-sheet input tray and 25-sheet output tray
  • Copy resolution of up to 600 x 300 dpi black and up to 600 x 300 dpi colour
  • Dimensions: 6.17″ H. x 16.74″ W. x 12.04″ D.
  • One year manufacturer’s limited warranty (details with product)

Something else to note is that this printer includes a 1.8m USB cable which you don’t always find with value-priced printers.

Price comparison:

As usual I did some homework for you.  This really is a great deal considering the same printer is selling at TheSource.ca for $59.99 and at CanadaComputers.com for $29.99.

Shipping:

Staples offers free in-store pick up and free shipping on orders over $45. Orders under $45 are shipped at $15.  Applicable Provincial electronic handling fees (EHF) and taxes are extra.

Staples Canada: Assassins Creed IV Black Flag For PS4 – Now $30

Posted by on July 9, 2014 at 6:30 PM

Staples Canada: Assassins Creed IV Black Flag For PS4 Now $30

Staples has a great deal on Assassins Creed IV – Black Flag: it’s now on sale for just $29.97.

When it comes to video games, I have a really bad habit of buying games and never playing them. In fact, I still have this version of Assassin’s Creed but for PS3 sitting unpackaged alongside BioShock2, Resident Evil 7 and Call of Duty: Black Ops on a shelf in my living room. Although Call of Duty has only been played once and will probably never get played again, but that’s a whole ‘nother story altogether.

Released in November 2013, Assassins Creed IV: Black Flag throws the player in the 18th century during the Golden Age of Piracy and centres around the adventure of Edward Kenway, a pirate who gets drawn into an old war.

As one of the top video games reviewers, GameSpot has actually rated this game 9 out of 10, with Shaun McInnis making the following persuading statement to play the game:

Black Flag doesn’t just present a beautiful world; it gives you a mountain of reasons to run off and go exploring.

Story-wise, the PS3 and PS4 versions of this game seem to be the same, but the real differences lie within the quality of the graphics, which you can clearly view in RajmanGaming’s Youtube video comparing the two. The colours are much more vivid on the PS4 and there are far more details (i.e. you can clearly see the waves in the ocean on the PS4, whereas it’s rather blurry on the PS3).

This game is actually still sold at its full price of $59.99 at EB Games and Best Buy. Future Shop has it on sale for $49.99 and Amazon has it at the lowest price, but still higher than the one at Staples, at $39.96.

Since shipping is only free on orders over $45, you can also check out the other two games for PlayStation 4 that you can also get for just $29.97: Need for Speed or Knack. Both are definitely great deals, although Amazon has Knack for $28.64.

If you’re on the hunt for furniture, then be sure to also use the Staples printable coupons available on our forum to save up to $100 off when you shop in-stores. There are three individual coupons that may only be used on furniture: one for $20 off orders over $100, another for $50 off orders over $250 and the last one for $100 off orders over $500.

Staples Canada: $2 off Starbucks Coffee – Now $6.91

Posted by on June 23, 2014 at 9:00 PM

Staples Canada: $2 off Starbucks Coffee Now $6.91

Staples Canada appears to be clearing out a bunch of their Starbucks coffee. Pick your favourite roast and get each bag for only $6.91, which is $2 off the original price of $8.91.

You can choose in this sale from five coffees. The Starbucks Coffee, House Blend is self-explanatory and tends to be one of the most popular coffee blends that Starbucks sells. If you just want a good all-around cup of coffee, then this is the blend you wish to buy. Next, you can pick up the Starbucks Coffee, Breakfast Blend, which is a mild and light-bodied coffee. While it says breakfast blend, this might be a good coffee for later in the day as well. The Starbucks Coffee, French Roast is their darkest roast and fantastic for those who like bold flavour.

This Starbucks Coffee, Caffe Verona comes already ground for you. It features bold flavour with a seductive sweetness for a perfect cup of coffee. The Starbucks Coffee, Decaf House Blend also comes pre-ground. For those who love the test but don`t like the mid afternoon caffeine withdrawal jitters, this may be the blend for you. it is a medium-roast and sure to tickle your taste-buds.

So, let us do a little math. Starbucks Canada sells most of these coffees in the 1lb size for $15.95. Staples is selling their bags of 226 g for $6.91. One pound is equal to 453 (approx.) grams, which means that the bags that Staples Canada is selling are half-pound bags. To compare prices between Starbucks and Staples Canada you would either need to 2x the price of Staples or half the price of the Starbucks coffee. I decided to do the latter. Starbucks coffee works out to $7.96 a half pound if bought at Starbucks so you are saving just over a dollar per bag at Staples, or, approximately 13% off.

This, of course, does not take into account the natural fact that products sold in smaller packages will cost more per gram than those sold in larger quantities. However, buying coffee in smaller amounts can be quite nice if you want to try a new flavour without dedicating extra capital to something that might be a complete miss. This way, you can try out half pounds of several different coffee flavours without making the commitment of a full pound. You save money at the same time, which is always good.

Receive free shipping on orders of $45 or more.

Staples Dollar Day Deals – Up to 70% Off

Posted by on June 10, 2014 at 10:00 PM

Staples Dollar Day Deals Up to 70% Off

Staples’ Dollar Days are back and with it comes a plethora of great offers from the office supply company.

While kids are just getting out of school this month, this is a good time to start stocking up on back-to-school supplies. I know you want to just stone me for mentioning something that does not start until September, but it is never too early to plan for it. Supplies are often more expensive right before school starts so that companies can make a greater profit, whereas right now Staples is trying to drop inventory as there is about to be a lull in demand for such supplies.

These Staples Binder Clips, Small 3/4″, Black, 40/Tub were originally $4.65 and are now discounted to just $1. You might be thinking you don’t need binder clips but these boys are real multi-taskers. Use them for keeping cereal bags closed and any other food bags that do not come resealable. They can also be used to hang artwork without damaging it: just use a binder clip on the artwork and then hang the binder clip from a thumbtack or whatever else you are hanging it from.

These Hilroy Shape It Up™ Binder 1.5″, Assorted Designs are fantastic for school and for keeping your child’s art and writing organized during the summer. They come in such fun designs like hearts, stripes, and circles in multi-colour. Originally $6.99, they are now only $2.

If you have a white-board at home for grocery lists, to-dos, and random artwork then pick up a Staples Dry-Erase Markers, Chisel Tip, Black, 4/Pack for only $2, originally $5.96. That works out to just 50 cents a marker.

My favourite of this sale is the Quartet Black Bulletin Board, Graphite Frame, 24″ x 18″ that was $29.99 and is now $10. This can be used for a home office, playroom, garage, or really anywhere. It is such a versatile piece of furniture. You can hang keys of the front of it, tuck mail behind the plastic ledge, and tack notes to the board. Use it to display your child’s artwork or to pass notes between busy family members. This would work well in a front hallway where every family member passes by on his or her way in and out of the house.

Dollar Days at Staples is the perfect time to stock up on school supplies, office supplies, and supplies for around the house. The only limit to their ability is your imagination.

Staples Canada: Whalen L Shaped Desk Only $145

In the market for a great deal on a new desk? Staples has a fantastic deal going on with $145 off the Whalen Legeant L-shaped desk in cherry. It was originally $289, now $149.99. This item will also ship for free.

This has everything you need in a desk, from reversible legs for use in a corner or in the middle of a room, to compartments and drawers for files and storage. Made of high-quality engineered wood, it has a really nice cherry finish. I would really love an L-shaped desk as the desk I have now doesn’t give me enough room for all my stuff. I use a laptop and desktop simultaneously and having that L-shape would help out quite a bit.

There are 40 reviews on this desk, with a four star rating. The pros include an attractive design and being comfortable, and a con is that it is difficult to assemble. But, people have rated it as easy to assemble as a pro, so as with any review, take them with a grain of salt.

This desk is on sale because Staples is having their Spring Furniture event with up to 50% off, so if you don’t like this desk too much, there are many others (among other furniture) to choose from.
