While many of us prefer not to use credit cards, other people manage to earn rewards from their credit cards without ever paying fees. Thus, I am always on the lookout for good credit card bonuses. Right now, Staples Canada is offering $25 credit back when you a) open a Staples Credit Card account and b) make your first purchase of $75 or more.
There are two accounts to choose from depending upon your needs.
The business account is good for those who own small businesses. There is no annual fee and you can request additional cards at no extra cost. You also receive detailed account statements so you can track spending and know which card has bought what items. While it says you have the ability to carry a balance if needed, we always encourage Moosers and Moose Businesses to pay off their credit cards every month.
The majority of our Moosers will want to choose the personal Staples credit card account. This credit card has no annual fee. You will manage your statement and account online.
To get your bonus $25 account credit, you need to place a net transaction of $75 or more – in a single purchase – before taxes and shipping fees. The account credit will be applied in the month following this promotion ending – so May.
There is also a really interesting payment plan service offered by Staples. Here is what they say:
If the financing is not paid in full by the due date shown on the statement of account, it is converted into a purchase payable by equal and consecutive monthly payments (included in the minimum payment due on the credit card), calculated from the payment due date, at the annual interest rate for the financing plan offered by the merchant
I have not seen this feature on many other cards – and I am not sure how handy it will be. I tend to pay my credit card off every month so this has never been an issue. However, I would like to hear your opinions on this credit card feature.
The only thing I don’t like about this credit card is the lack of rewards. There does not appear to be a point system or cash back built into the credit card. Once you receive your $25 bonus, that appears to be it for rewards.
