H&R Block Canada: Student Tax Deal & Free SPC Card

H&R Block Canada: Student Tax Deal & Free SPC Card

Hey Students! If you are a university student like me you probably got an email in your student email account reminding you to print off your T2202A tax receipt for last year. Here is another reminder, you can pay just $29.99 at H&R Block this year and get them to do your taxes for you.

You will also receive a free Student Price Card which is valued at $9.95 so you are really getting a fantastic value to get someone else to do your taxes. It takes very little time (mine on average has taken a half hour) and it really is a huge stress relief.

In fact: one year I decided to do my taxes my self (with my husband’s help). I figured it would be a bit cheaper and just easier. Well, I put something on the wrong line and then one reassessment, several conversations with a very nice taxman, and much time wasted has convinced my that H&R Block is the way to go. The four years I used H&R Block’s services I never had a problem with my taxes ever. That saved a lot of time and stress.

So students, I highly recommend this service. It is very affordable, a great deal, and you get a student price card as well.

Lou Lou Magazine has a great offer for students right now. When you order a one year subscription to LouLou magazine (eight issues) for $14.95 you will receive a free Student Price Card (value of $9) as a bonus.

Truth be told, anyone can take advantage of this deal. However, to use your SPC you will often have to present student ID, so it is best to actually be a student. The SPC is valid until the end of July 2014, so there is plenty of time to enjoy it. It will give you 10% to 15% off discounts at many popular stores. You can check out the SPC perks here.

The LouLou magazine subscription includes both the physical magazine and the digital subscription for your tablet. The price above does not include taxes. With taxes, the prices works out to:

  • ON, NB, NL, MB: $16.89
  • QC, NS: $17.19
  • PEI: $17.04
  • Rest of Canada: $15.70

When you pay for your subscription you will be sent the SPC. So, don’t choose the bill me later option!

The expiry date on the bottom of the offer has not been updated for some reason, though this offer is still ongoing. I found this offer through the SPC website and it is still being offered, according to them.

If you are not a student, you can get LouLou Magazine for $14.95 for a one year subscription and get a bonus issue for ordering online. Check that offer out here.

SPC Canada: Pre Order Your Card & Get A $10 Gift Card

Pre-order your 2013-2014 SPC student price card and get a $10 gift card of your choice, absolutely free.

If you haven’t heard of the SPC student price card and you are a student, you are definitely missing out. They actually had these cards when I was a student and I found them totally handy. The card gives you an automatic discount to many retailers, just for being a student and having the card. These retailers include Aldo, Church’s Chicken, JYSK, Kernels Popcorn, The UPS store and so many more.

The cost of the card is $9, plus $2 shipping, and you can use it all year, from August until next July 31st. Since you can use it for clothing, food and other things that students need, you’ll most likely pay for the card with the savings you get. Plus, your free gift card is worth $10 ($5 for Suzy Shier), so basically you’re paying only $1 for an awesome discount card.

Choose from retailers like Bench, Boston Pizza, and Bath & Body Works for your free card. As an added bonus, you will have a chance to win a $50 gift card.

Lou Lou: 1 Year Lou Lou Subscription for $14.95 + Free SPC Card!

(BUMP – the same deal is back from a year ago) Get a subscription of Lou Lou magazine for $14.95 (+tax) and receive a free SPC Card with your purchase. SPC cards usually cost $10 so it is a fabulous little freebie.

This is great if you have a student in your house, big or small. To use an SPC card some places will ask for a student ID card, while others may not. Even if you are a part time student as an adult you can get an ID card, it is worth the trouble.

Thank Anna for posting this on the community forums, it has already reached 30 degrees on the hot meter!

(P.S. If you’d prefer a free $10 Foxy Originals gift card, you can get the Lou Lou 1 year subscription for $17.95 instead)

Bath & Body Works: Now Accepting SPC Cards for Extra 10% Off

Bath & Body Works now accepts the SPC card, which is the Student Price Card. You can get one for rather cheap, usually $8 – $11. It will give you an extra 10% off your entire purchase at Bath & Body Works.

There are a few exclusions, the one I know of is that it excludes 50% or higher markdowns. Either way this is a fabulous way to save at such a popular store. Their body lotions are some of the most popular, and my husband is a fan of their foaming hand soaps – and the big rubber ducky from their huge sales.

As you can expect, this is in store only.

Student Price Card 2011-2012

Posted by on August 1, 2011 at 6:00 PM

Student Price Card 2011 2012

Your old Student Price Card (SPC) just expired yesterday, it is time to get a new one. If you are like me you may have noticed how The Bay is no longer on SPC, and wondering why you should get a new one. Well, this year there are a ton of awesome companies joining the SPC discounts, to make it worth your few $$ to buy the card.

New retailers this year:

  • Addition Elle
  • Banana Republic
  • Baskin Robbins
  • Domino’s Pizza
  • The Gap
  • Jacob
  • Jacob Lingerie
  • JYSK
  • Old Navy

There are plenty of FANTASTIC retailers in that list, and I think this year the SPC card will be better than ever.

As Anna mentioned before: when you buy your card for $9 (+ $2 shipping) you get your choice of a free $10 shopping card to the following stores with minimum purchase:

  • $10 off $50 @ Suzy Shier
  • $10 off $50 @ Buffalo David Bitton
  • $10 off $25 @ Jean Machine
  • $10 off $50 @ Danier
  • $10 off $35 @ The Body Shop
  • $10 off $79 @ Bench

I need to order my new SPC card, and I think I will go with The Body Shop coupon: a $35 min isn’t bad and The Body Shop has the Almond Body Butter my hubby loves.

If you have a 11/12 SPC Card make sure to check out the weekly perks for even more discounts!

SPC Cards valid August 1st, 2011 – July 31st, 2012.

Foot Locker Canada: Get 30% Off Printable Coupon (SPC)

Today through the 17th of July 2011 those who hold an SPC (Student Price Card) can use the following coupon to get 30% off at Foot Locker. This promotion cannot be combined with other offers.

Check out the coupon for all the fine print.

I really await the day that Foot Locker opens their Canadian website to actually selling shoes. I don’t get why they don’t. They have all the categories laid out and many of the shoes already on there. It would be so convenient if they just made that final step. Foot Locker Canada: Get 30% Off Printable Coupon (SPC)

SPC Cards For $9 With $10 Free Gift Cards (Min Spend Required)

Posted by on June 5, 2011 at 5:00 PM

SPC Cards For $9 With $10 Free Gift Cards (Min Spend Required)

Here’s a dealio for the smarty student Bargainmoosers. You can pre-order the 2011-2012 SPC card for a price of $9 (+$2 shipping) now and with that you can choose a $10 gift card for various stores. The gift cards all have min spends which I will detail below.

Choices of free gift cards:

  • $10 off $50 @ Suzy Shier
  • $10 off $50 @ Buffalo David Bitton
  • $10 off $25 @ Jean Machine
  • $10 off $50 @ Danier
  • $10 off $35 @ The Body Shop
  • $10 off $79 @ Bench

So if you were going to order an SPC card anyway, then you might as well get one of the $10 discount cards too. It’s a bit of a shame that they all have minimum spends attached. If I was buying one, I’d go for The Jean Machine gift card as it has a pretty reasonable minimum spend, and you can never have enough pairs of jeans!

There’s sometimes  bit of confusion as to who can use the SPC card and where you can use it. Many stores accept it, but you’ll almost always get asked for your student ID along with the SPC card, as you really need both to validly claim a discount.

SPC: $10 off $20 Purchase at The Body Shop

Student Price Card has a fantastic offer with The Body Shop: When you spend $20 get $10 off your purchase! This offer is applicable in store only, through the 5th of June, 2011.

I recently bought my mother the Olive Body Butter for Mother’s Day, and she is pleased. This morning she told me that she put the body butter on her very dry feet at night, and they were still nice and soft the next morning. SPC: $10 off $20 Purchase at The Body Shop I am trying to get my hubby to use more lotion because his skin is always dry. The Body Shop is helping me out: He loves the scent of the Almond Body Butter and thus will apply it more often that other stuff.

You know: if you buy exactly $20 worth of stuff, that is 50% off!

Costa Blanca and Urban Behaviour are both having a special SPC (Student Price Card) event. Get 30% off regular priced merchandise at either store from April 15 – 17, 2011.

If you are a student, or have a student in your family and they don’t have an SPC card, it is easy to get one and they cost just $10. They run from July – July… so every year you need a new one. But it is a mere $10 investment, and you usually get a cool coupon with it too.

Baskin Robbins joins Student Price Card

Baskin Robbins joins Student Price Card

Baskin Robbins has teamed up with SPC to offer you more ice cream for your money, who can resist? Students need sugar! With SPC card in hand you can upsize any regular beverage or sundae to a large for free. A large sundae… yummmmmm! Baskin Robbins joins Student Price Card

Don’t forget about the Baskin Robbins’ birthday club, which will give you a coupon for a free ice cream on your birthday too. More ice cream for less is an excellent deal. I think the SPC card is redeeming itself since the loss of some major companies from it this last year.

Don’t forget, the SPC card is only $10! Whether you are a part time student or full time student… in junior high.. high school, college or university, order your SPC card to save.
