Sony Store: 32″ R420B Series LED HDTV – Now $299.99 & Free Shipping

Posted by on October 12, 2014 at 4:00 PM

Sony Store: 32 R420B Series LED HDTV Now $299.99 & Free Shipping

The Sony Store Canada is offering $30 off the Sony 32″ R420B Series LED HDTV. This is a great mid-size TV with excellent quality and 720p HD. Originally $329.99, the TV is on sale for $299.99.

This TV is on sale this weekend for the same price everywhere, but it is selling out quickly. Future Shop only has five in stock right now and Best Buy has only 10 left. London Drugs also sells this model, but they require in store pickup so their deal is not as good.

I chose Sony because they manufacture this television, have the greater quantity of stock, and offer free shipping on $50 or more so you still get the television shipped to you free. In addition, if you ever have problems, it is always easy to deal with them if you bought your product from the company that makes your TV.

I think this is a good deal for several reasons:

  • This is a Sony HDTV for under $300
  • While on sale multiple places, it is selling like hotcakes
  • The Sony TV has great reviews

Yes, the reviews are fantastic. Many reviewers own multiple of these TVs and have owned them for several years. Check out these two reviews:

Great picture for the size of the TV. I have 4 of them and one purchased from the refurbished dept. Only one, the front sensor that the remote works off does not work after 3 years and have to change the volume from the tv itself.

I’ve owned various brands/types of 32″ televisions. The Sony brand has yet to let me down. For durability, picture/sound quality there is no better choice. I currently own 3 brands of 32″ televisions. The Sony has the same clarity of picture without any glitches compared to the other two

One of the reviews I read mentioned the price being competitive with Best Buy and Future Shop, but both those stores were sold out. I figure that is going to happen again with this sale so be sure to pick up your TV here.

I bought my husband a Sony Bravia TV for his birthday at least three years ago and it is still working perfectly. There have been zero issues whatsoever, which is so rare with electronics these days. Overall, I have been super impressed with every Sony purchase I have made. They make quality products that last.

Sony Canada: Smartphone Attachable Camera $199.99 ($50 Off)

Posted by on August 3, 2014 at 4:00 PM

Sony Canada: Smartphone Attachable Camera $199.99 ($50 Off)

The coolest gadget possible is now on sale at Sony Canada. Hop on over to Sony to observe the Sony Smartphone Attachable Camera that is on sale for $199.99, down from $249.99.

This ‘camera’ will almost turn your smart phone into a DSLR camera. The Sony camera can be used attached to your smart phone, which is easy given little flip up support clips. You can also hold it in your hand without physically attaching it to your camera. That way you can be watching what you are going to take a picture of on your smart phone screen while holding the lens at whatever angle you need for the best shot. The smartphone and lens communicate wirelessly via Wi-Fi, and there will be an application to install on your phone to give you full control over the Sony camera portion. You can also edit and share photos instantly online via the application. Your images can be saved on both the camera and on your phone. The iAuto function automatically adjusts settings on the camera based on shot conditions and there is a sensor for low-light conditions as well.

The Sony camera features a 10x zoom and 18MP quality photos. High quality video is also possible with the Sony camera, as it will shoot 1080/30p HD video with low grain.

This Sony Attachable Camera is, frankly, the camera of the future. With everyone using their smart phone for taking pictures these days, actual cameras are becoming outdated. Even DSLR cameras are being left at home in favour of the convenience of something that fits in your pocket. The Sony attachable camera fits in your pocket (as long as you are not wearing skinny jeans). It is easy to carry and just throw in your bag. It pairs wirelessly with your smart phone and can turn a mediocre photo into an amazing photo in seconds. I went into a Sony Store and saw this attachable camera demoed on my own smart phone: I wanted one right then and there. My husband had to drag me out of the store so I did not buy one that second all the while reminding me I already own a DSLR. I might just sell my big DSLR camera and buy this Sony smartphone attachable camera instead.

Sony Canada offers free shipping on all orders.

Sony Canada Coupon Code: $25 Off $200 Audio Purchase

Posted by on July 30, 2014 at 11:00 PM

Sony Canada Coupon Code: $25 Off $200 Audio Purchase

Sony Canada has a coupon code for $25 off any $200 audio purchase.

Click here to shop @ the online Sony Store Canada now

  • Coupon Code: AUDIO251407
  • Discount: $25 off $200
  • Expiry: 18th August 2014

This coupon is not applicable on cables, PlayStation hardware and software, Gift cards, or SonyCare extended warranty. However, this is valid on audio purchases such as headphones, speakers, speaker docks, and sound bars.

While this coupon doesn’t seem that big, coupons from Sony Canada are not that common. So, if you are already planning a purchase then this is a nice little bonus. You can also stack this coupon code with sale items.

This pair of Hybrid, 2-way, In-Ear Headphones are on sale from $179.99 down to $139.99 already. These noise isolation earbuds feature a hybrid two-way driver for deep bass and amazing vocals. They come with three sizes of silicone earbuds to ensure you get the best fit for your ears. One reviewer has given these headphones a 5/5 rating with this praise:

Both bass and treble sound great and with excellent depth and presence. I was skeptical after my experience with the 2-drivers but I’m glad I got these. As a testament I’m actually back buying a new pair to replace the ones my dog chewed up…

You can read the rest of the review on Sony’s website.

I am looking into the 4GB Walkman Sports MP3 Player for $89.99 from Sony. I like that the MP3 player is built into the headphones that hook over the ears and wrap behind the head. This style of headphone is harder to knock off your head. What also attracts me to this headset is the claim that it is waterproof. I like swimming so I am thrilled that this is something I could use in the water. The Walkman looks sleek, lightweight, and stylish so I wouldn’t mind sporting this in the pool. 4GB is also more than enough memory to carry playlists for my workouts. The black is currently in stock. Unfortunately, the white is not available right now (and it is my favourite colour of the two).

This coupon applies on plenty of other things, so shop around a bit and see what you can pick up. It also may work as long as you have one audio item in your cart with other items.

Sony Canada offers free shipping on all orders.

Don’t forget to stop by the Sony coupon code page in our coupon section.

Sony Canada: $90 Off Xperia M Dual – Now $180

Posted by on June 13, 2014 at 10:30 PM

Sony Canada: $90 Off Xperia M Dual Now $180

Sony Canada has put their Xperia M dual android-based smartphone on sale from $269.99 down to $179.99.

Sony is one of my favourite brands for electronics. I own a Sony TV, two cameras, and a PS3 that all continue to perform well and have not let me down yet. While I have never owned a Sony phone, I have considered buying one because the price is far more reasonable than my iPhone and my iPhone has spent 18 months seeing how many ways it can disappoint me (under-performing battery, on button refuses to work half the time, phone freezes, etc!).

The Xperia M Dual looks like a very good phone. It has all your basic functionality of a smartphone and comes pre-loaded with your favourite apps like Facebook and Google talk. The phone itself has an internal storage of 4GB and that is expandable with a microSD card, up to 32GB.

I wanted to talk about some awesome features that only the Sony phones have. One of them is called Battery stamina mode. This mode prevents unnecessary battery drain by automatically turning off things you don’t need or are not using (while maintaining all necessary notifications). This occurs while your phone is in sleep mode – when your screen is off – so when you turn your screen back on everything is up and running like normal. This is a BRILLIANT feature I would love to try out. My Apple battery is so bad I now carry an Anker external battery wherever I go.

The other thing you can expect from Sony is an awesome camera. The built in 5MP camera comes with features such as:

  • auto focus face detection
  • Fast capture Flash/Photo flash
  • Geotagging
  • Image stabilizer
  • Quick Launch Self-timer
  • Smile shutter
  • Red-eye reduction
  • Sweep Panorama
  • Touch capture/Touch focus

Your camera is also capable of HD 720p video recording for crisp clear videos on your phone. This is the quality I have come to expect from Sony after owning a Sony DSLR for a couple years. If there is anything Sony knows, it is cameras.

They also know sound systems and you will be very happy with the quality of speakers on this unit. The phone comes unlocked and is dual-sim compatible. I am a firm believer in unlocked phones so you can negotiate and renegotiate the best cell phone plan available.

Sony offers free shipping on orders of $25 or more, thus this will ship free.

Sony Store Canada Coupons: $25 – $50 Discount

Sony Store Canada Coupons: $25 $50 Discount

Sony Store Canada is offering $25 off orders of $200 or $50 off orders of $400 with the following coupon codes just in time for Mother’s Day.

Click here to shop @ now

  • Coupon Code: MOMDAY142550
  • Discount: $25 off $200
  • Coupon Code: MOMDAY142551
  • Discount: $50 off $400
  • Expiry: 30th May 2014

Sony does not often have coupons that just apply to anything. In fact, the last time we had just generic coupons from Sony was… lets just say I scrolled back through two years worth of Sony Store posts and none of them had generic Sony coupon codes in them. So there: rare!

I am pretty obsessed with the new Smartphone Camera that Sony has come out with. In the future I anticipate this thing is going to replace DSLRs and become the IT camera. It gives you better quality photos with a 10x optical zoom and is the size of your hand and fits into your pocket (mind the bulge). It is priced at $249.99, but after coupon code you will pay $224.99. I was given a tour of the device and a demo in a Sony Store in Vancouver and was suitably impressed.

For these and any future coupon codes for Sony, check out the forum. Get free shipping on any order online at Sony Canada.

Sony Canada: VAIO Fit 15E Laptop Only $626

Posted by on April 2, 2014 at 2:30 PM

Sony Canada: VAIO Fit 15E Laptop Only $626

Sony Canada is offering 10% to 30% off clearance customized laptops currently and they have this VAIO Fit 15E Laptop on sale for $626.49.

This laptop comes with:

  • Intel Core i5-3337U processor
  • 15.5″ LED backlit display (1366 x 768)
  • 8GB RAM
  • 500GB (5400rpm) HDD
  • Intel HD Graphics 4000

I did some price comparing but I had a hard time finding this exact configuration in this laptop. Usually I found it with a bit of a bigger hard drive and priced around $800. Given that was the usual price I found this laptop for, I figured this discounted price was a pretty good deal even with the smaller hard drive.

I don’t know much about the Sony VAIO but I was introduced to them when I was 19. My then boyfriend had the smallest laptop I had ever seen (I think it was like 11″) and it was a Sony VAIO. It was such a tiny little thing and it was white whereas the vast majority of laptops were black so that little Sony laptop has stuck in my brain all these years. It was a fantastic little device.

This is an online exclusive deal so you will not find this in your local stores. All items ship for free from Sony Canada.

Sony Store Canada: Buy $50 Gift Card & Get $50 Off $150 Gift Card

Sony Store Canada: Buy $50 Gift Card & Get $50 Off $150 Gift Card

When you buy a $50 gift card at The Sony Store Canada before (and including) December 24th, 2013, you will receive a certificate for $50 off $150 worth of gift cards that can be redeemed between December 26th and January 5th. This is an in store deal only, but worth taking the time to get!

This deal is actually pretty darn sweet if you are planning a big Sony Store purchase come Boxing Day. I have used this deal before and it is pretty great. I suggest buying the gift card and then saving it, because you can combine the gift card you bought ($50 worth) with the $50 off $150 certificate you will receive. So, if you are buying something that is exactly $150, then this certificate is like a 33% off coupon.

I have a Sony camera and accessories for it rarely ever go on sale. On my wish list is this basic Sony External flash which is $199.99. If I use the method above to pay for it, come December 26th the flash will only cost me $149.99, so I save 25% off the original price.

Sony Canada: Refurbished Google TV Player – $150 (Save $50)

Posted by on August 25, 2013 at 4:00 PM

Sony Canada: Refurbished Google TV Player $150 (Save $50)

Sony Canada is selling refurbished Google TV Players for $50 off the regular (new) price. If you have wanted one of these devices for a while, then the $149.99 price tag is certainly going to pique your interest (originally $199.99).

I can’t find anywhere that specifically says this comes with the full warranty, but I did find that it comes with the warranty card which is just like the original, thus I assume it does. You save 25% off the non-refurbished price, which is great savings when you are talking about a $200 piece of equipment.

The Google TV Player gives you access to streaming content, made-for-TV apps, and Google Chrome all on your TV. You can use it for Netflix, to access the Sony Entertainment Network, and much much more. Here is what one buyer had to say:

I am very happy with my purchase. as an avid movie watcher, the ease of use and the comfortable, efficient remote has really made using Netflix a dream. I wouldn’t even say it’s a con, more like where it could go in the future, would be nice to customize the home screen a bit more, be able to set up your desktop how you like it. A great buy !

Sony Store also offers free shipping on all orders, so this device will ship to you for free.

Sony Canada: Educational Discounts

Sony Canada: Educational Discounts

I recently found out that Sony Canada has an Educational Store that offers specific discounts just to students and faculty. To access the store you will need to input your name, institution, school email address, and student ID (if you are a student). You will then gain access to the Educational Store that can save you money on many Sony purchases.

There are many deals on the educational side of things, here are a few examples:

  • Save over $350 on a DSLR and get a free accessories kit
  • Get up to an extra 10% off headphones
  • Save up to 30% when you bundle headphones and a speaker set
  • Get up to an extra 15% off accessories
  • Save up to 10% on all cameras (DSLR, Cybershot, NEX)
  • Buy a Playstation console and get a $50 gift coupon
  • Buy a eReader and get a $10 gift coupon
  • Buy an Xperia ZL and get a $75 gift coupon
  • Get an additional 5% off all custom laptops

The savings are endless and I am very excited because I am a student and I own a Sony camera. This Circular Polarizing Filter is on my wishlist and retails for $119.99 but as a student I can get it for $101.19. The filter is useful for eliminating reflection off of glass so I can shoot pictures through windows without the glare. I also totally want a remote control for shutter release. This RM-L1AM Alpha Remote Commander is regularly $94.99 but if you are a student or faculty member, you can pick it up for just $80.74. Woohoo!

All items ship for free from Sony Canada.

Sony Store Canada: Vertical Grip for α500/α550 Was $275 | Now $25

Posted by on April 14, 2013 at 12:00 PM

Sony Store Canada: Vertical Grip for α500/α550 Was $275 | Now $25

If you own a Sony DSLR α500/α550 or even a α580L you might want to take a look at this mind-blowing deal at the Sony Store. Get the compatible vertical grip for only $24.99, originally $274.99!

The description only mentions the first two models, the a500 and the a550. However, when I looked at compatible models it also showed the a580L. Wow, I wish this was compatible with my Sony DSLR – I would buy it in a heart beat! The following review beams over the usefulness of this grip, and mentions a few other models it is compatible with:

This grip is a great addition to your camera if you have an A500, A550, A560, or A580. With Sony, the batteries usually last a pretty long time – but when I use this grip loaded with 2 freshly charged batteries, I can get through a 10 hour wedding and not have to worry about changing batteries. The additional power is nice, but the best feature of the battery grip is how much more solid and easy-to-hold it makes your camera. I hardly ever take it off, even if I only have one battery. It makes the camera quite a bit bigger, but a LOT easier to handle. If you’ve got an A5xx and you can find one for less than $200, I wouldn’t hesitate to pick one up.

Let’s just say, this is way less than $200. Woohoo!

There are so many great deals at the Sony Store right now, this just feels like the tip. My favourite deal is the Super Zoom Sports Action Camera – it comes with a Carl Zeiss lens and though that may just sound like some guys’ name – this guy is mythical for camera lenses. His lenses are usually the biggest and the best you can buy for cameras and the clarity you get is phenomenal. I’m jealous.

Sony Canada: Save up to $200 on Headphones

Sony Canada is discounting a bunch of their headphones from the low end to the super high end noise cancelling sets. Something for everyone!

click here to shop the headphone sale @

There really is something here for everyone.

These are just a few of the offerings in this sale. There are tons more for different price points. The lowest I think I’ve seen was $19.99 which is perfect for people like me who can’t keep a set of wired headphones to save my life. I used to buy $50 Sony DJ style headphones until I broke my fifth pair or so. After that I started buying $20 earbuds and, after I burned through a few hundred dollars in those, eventually I settled into the $10 special at Wal~Mart.

Now if you are better at keeping your headphones in one piece, you can get the super expensive $300 pair I mentioned above or a set anywhere in between.
