Almost Unlimited Skiing & Snowboarding For Kids With a $30 SnowPass

Almost Unlimited Skiing & Snowboarding For Kids With a $30 SnowPass

I found out about a really awesome program and wanted to share it with you! If your child is in grade four or five, they can participate in this SnowPass. For $29.95, you’ll get the SnowPass, which gives your child three lift passes each for every participating ski or snowboard area – and there are many!

My oldest son is in grade four and luck be have it that this was the year I was putting him in snowboarding lessons. He has shown an interest in it for some time, but honestly, cost was holding me back. Skiing and snowboarding are probably one of the more expensive extracurricular activities a child can participate in. Sure, you can get used equipment, but the lift tickets and the lessons are mega-expensive. This SnowPass literally solves that problem for us. He’ll basically get to go out about once a week for a total of only $30, and then he’ll get to do it all again next year.

What’s really great is that by the time he is in grade six, we’ll know if this is something he truly wants to pursue and I don’t mind paying for the lift tickets.

There are quite a few areas (over 150) that they passes can be used at, all over Canada, with the majority being in Quebec, British Columbia and Ontario, which makes sense.

What you need to do is apply, and you only need to apply once and your pass is good through grade four and five. Simply fill out your application at the link above, then you’ll mail it in, along with a photo (similar to a passport photo) that is 2×2 inches and a copy of their birth certificate or report card.

The Canadian Ski Council who does these passes is a not-for-profit organization and your $29.95 is an administrative fee. Your pass will come within 5 to 10 business days, but if you want it sooner, you can get it via XpressPost for an additional fee.

Moosers, how many of you have used this pass and love it? Tell me in the comments below!

Sport Chek Canada: $30 Instant Rebate When You Buy Snow Gear

Sport Chek Canada: $30 Instant Rebate When You Buy Snow Gear

Tis almost the season to go snowboarding and skiing and Sport Chek has a few little bonuses for you when you buy your gear from them. Get a $30 instant rebate for anything else in the store when you buy your snowboards, skis, boots and/or bindings from Sport Chek. Your purchase must total $149 or more and can be both in-store or online.

This little incentive is great, especially if you were already planning on buying snow gear from Sport Chek. You can use it for hats, mitts, goggles or even something in another category like running or yoga. My oldest son really wants to try snowboarding this year and the cost of the lessons on top of a snowboard rental is way too much. I can buy a snowboard cheaper than I can rent it over the time of the lessons, and hopefully it will get its worth outside of the lessons.

Sport Chek also has a great junior ski and snowboard exchange program, where you buy any new junior ski or snowboard equipment at Sport Chek and you can bring it back next year (within 12 months) and get a 50% credit towards your next ski or snowboard purchase. If your child can use the equipment for longer than one year, if you bring it in within 24 months, you’ll get a 25% credit. You do need your original receipt and everything should still be in good condition. This program is amazing because as any mother knows, kids grow and to get brand new equipment at basically 50% off each year (after the first year), is pretty sweet! They also have a program for skating equipment too.

(Expiry: 12th November 2013 – instant rebate/ unknown for exchange program)

Meltdown Canada: Up To 80% Off Snowboards & Gear

Meltdown Canada: Up To 80% Off Snowboards & Gear

If you are looking for snowboards and snow gear, you’ve come to the right place. Meltdown Canada is having a huge tent sale, both online and at their Kitchener, Ontario store, with up to 80% off boards, helmets, boots, bindings, clothing and much more.

This sale at Meltdown Canada interested me as I have a son who is going to start snowboarding lessons this winter and I need to buy him a snowboard and gear. We’ve never blogged about this store before, but it looks like an amazing store to shop at, with free shipping on purchases over only $50.

If you aren’t that into snowboarding, they also carry BMX bikes and supplies, longboards plus clothing and accessories from all the coolest brands.

Since this is my son’s first venture onto a board in the snow, I want to spend the least amount of money I can. Although they have a Toy Story board, I know he will think that is too babyish and want something “radical”, like this Lib Tech ripper snowboard. I have no knowledge of what he really needs, so before I shop this sale, I’ll have to do my research on the differences between boards and what size he needs. There is a compare button, which is really handy for people to figure out the differences in the boards they are interested in.
