Moto 360 Was $280 | Now $180 & Free Canadian Shipping @ Google Store

Moto 360 Was $280 | Now $180 & Free Canadian Shipping @ Google Store

Android users should check out this deal for wearable technology today, over at the Google Store. The Moto 360 was $279.99 but now is only $179.99!

I have to admit, I had no idea the Google Store was selling devices directly in Canada. I usually think about the Google Play Store, and the Google Store has slipped under my radar. To find out what electronics are available to us in Canada through the Google Store, check out this list here. Even better, right now there is an amazing discount for the Moto 360.

The Moto 360 is an ultimate, top of the line smartwatch. This watch has a scratch-free glass screen and a leather band. Use this as a command centre to preview your messages while your Android device stays in your pocket or bag. This device doubles as an activity tracker with a built in pedometer and heart rate monitor. Track your progress directly through Google Fit, and even connect to the Google Play Store to listen to stream tunes while you work out. This watch also connects to Google maps, and can double as a GPS device… from your watch! Seriously, my watch could give turn-by-turn directions? This watch is compatible with Android devices, but sadly is not yet cross-compatible with iOS devices.

Price Comparison

The only price I found that was anywhere close to the Google Store was over at Telus, they have the Moto 360 on sale for $199.99. At Best Buy Canada, this watch is on sale and has dropped to $249.99. Videotron is selling this watch for $279.95. You could also buy this directly from for $279.99. has this watch for $279.99. This is an amazing price at the Google Store.

Reviews overall are positive for this watch. I have looked at a couple other smartwatches, and this one by far has the happiest reviewers. Here is one review over at Best Buy that may just convince you it is time to buy this watch.

OK…I had some inaccurate perceptions of what a smartwatch can do…, it’s not a smartphone on your wrist! It’s your phones notification center and a limited controller of your phone… and it does this wonderfully! I like to exercise. With the Moto 360 if a message notification comes in I just flick my wrist… Plus it’s a beautiful comfortable watch I LOVE IT!

Google Store is currently offering a free shipping promotion that means this item ships completely free. I was a little concerned about duty costs, as I could not find it stated directly on Google’s website. What they did say is that orders ship via UPS, Purolator or Canada Post according to the Find Your Country’s Estimated Delivery Time drop-down menu further down the page. From reading various Canadian customer accounts around the web, you should not be charged any customs fees at your door. Other buyers have reported that Google absorbs those costs and that there are not duty fees at the door. There is still a chance duty fees could be presented, but I would say your chances are low overall.

I have never ordered from the Google Store directly, but this highly sought after smartwatch is very tempting. Google is generally very on top of things. Even their checkout feels clean without a fuss. This is the lowest price I have seen for this awesome watch yet. My husband would be thrilled to receive this as a Father’s Day gift.

Bargainmoosers, can any of you comment as to how your transaction with the Google Store went?

Trade Up To iPhone 6 From Just $80 With Telus @ Best Buy Friends & Family Sale (March 26th In-Stores Only) (EXPIRED)

Posted by on March 25, 2015 at 7:00 PM

Trade Up To iPhone 6 From Just $80 With Telus @ Best Buy Friends & Family Sale (March 26th In Stores Only) (EXPIRED)

I love iPhones a little too much to agree with the funny image above of the iPhone 6 bending down to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 but the fake ad is a genius one nonetheless! Speaking of iPhones, tomorrow on March 25th, Best Buy will be having a Friends & Family Sale with the possibility to trade up to an iPhone 6 for as low as $79.99. This offer is only with a Telus plan, but there are other offers clients of Bell, Rogers and Virgin Mobile.

The iPone 6 trade-in offer is the one that most caught my attention because not only I’m with Telus myself but I also have the iPhone 5s. When the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus first came out, I contemplated switching but ultimately opted not to shell out the big bucks to upgrade to the newest toy.

This trade-in offer has captured my attention though because I figure that once the new iPhone comes out in September (nothing is confirmed of course but there is quite the pattern of new iPhones being released every September), then I could potentially have an easier time selling the latest model online as opposed to the one before that. Plus, my hubby has the iPhone 6 and I must say, there is a noticeable difference in the picture quality between the 5s and the 6!

With Best Buy’s Friends & Family Sale, anyone with Telus could get the:

  • iPhone 6 16GB for just $129.99 (reg. $264.99) or $79.99 after trade-in
  • iPhone 6 Plus 16GB for $239.99 (reg. $374.99) or $189.99 after trade-in

The 64GB and 128GB iPhones are also available but prices aren’t listen online, which means that you would have to visit your local store to find out what these are.

The only fine print is that this discount is on “select 2-year new activation or renewal”. Now the only thing is that there is no specification as to the kind of phone that you can trade in. It’s unclear whether you need to have an iPhone to get an iPhone or if you can bring in a Samsung from another service provider. With regards to a renewal, it’s also unclear if your contract needs to be close to the end of its term or not either.

In either case, if you have been wanting the newest iPhone, then this deal is definitely worth checking out in-stores. I don’t suggest you wait until the end of the day either as iPhone deals tend to sell out like hot cakes.

If you would prefer to get a Samsung phone, then you could potentially also get one for free, along with up to a $150 gift card. For the Samsung Galaxy S5, you would have to go with Bell or Rogers or for the S4, you have the choice between Koodo, Virgin Mobile or Fido.

Other offers include but are now limited to:

  • 20% off Beats headphones & speaker with activation of Apple products
  • 20% off Case-Mate iPhone 6 & iPhone 6 Plus cases
  • 10% off wearable tech products

50% Off Unlocked Blackberry Z30 – Now $250 @ Blackberry Store

Posted by on December 25, 2014 at 3:29 PM

50% Off Unlocked Blackberry Z30 Now $250 @ Blackberry Store

The Blackberry store launched their Boxing Day sale this morning with up to 50% off select phones. The best deal of the lot is an unlocked Blackberry Z30 for just $250, originally $499.

If you are in the market for a new Blackberry phone, then this is the way to go. There are limited quantities available at this price so i do not know when this will end or go up in price.

The phone features

  • 16GB internal storage
  • 5″ touch display
  • 8 MP rear camera

It is also 4G LTE ready with the following supported bands: LTE 4, 5, 7, HSPA 1, 2, 4, 5/6. Enjoy up to 18 hours of talk time on a single charge. The phone also offers 1080p HD video recording for those moments you just have to capture in motion.

As the phone is unlocked, it is compatible with GSM carries. You can sign the phone up with almost any carrier in Canada without contract and then move companies when you see a better plan come along. Many companies even offer an extra discount on your monthly fee if you bring your own cellphone.

The Blackberry keyboard appears to have a little extra coding in it on this model. The keyboard will actually learn how you type and adapt so you can type faster on your phone. This is a constant problem for me, I like to communicate on the go but typing on my phone is very slow. This looks like a feature I would really enjoy.

However, shipping is a bit of a pain. It can cost up to $23 depending on where you live in Canada. It might be a bit cheaper to the major population bases in Canada but it was a bit pricey for delivery to my neighborhood.

There are a few other deals you might want to check out. The Blackberry Passport is now $100 off on all three colours including the limited edition Red. Also, the BlackBerry Q5 (Unlocked) – White is on sale for $175 but we have seen better here so I do not recommend it.

This is the best deal we have seen on the Z30, though.

Today Only: 40% Off OtterBox Accessories @ The Source Canada (EXPIRED)

Posted by on December 20, 2014 at 1:00 PM

Today Only: 40% Off OtterBox Accessories @ The Source Canada (EXPIRED)Does the picture above make you cringe? Don’t let that happen to you by protecting your devices with Otterbox accessories. These are 40% off today only at The Source.

This sale only seems to extend to older models of phone cases, so for instance, the Otterbox for the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus aren’t part of the equation. So if you have an “older” phone, then now is definitely a great time to get a new phone case or maybe even get one for someone as a Christmas gift.

If you tend to drop your phone a lot, then the Otterbox Defender case is a very good choice. The one for the iPhone 5C, for instance, is on sale for just $35.99 (reg. $59.99). It comes with a screen protector, a sillicone outer layer and a polycarbonate cover. Both the outer layer and the cover are designed to absorb impact, which means that no matter how many times you drop it, it should keep your phone safe. Of course, there are always exceptions but for the most patter, you can rest assured that the Otterbox will get the job done.

After cracking the screen of one phone and dropping the other in the toilet, my hubby immediately bought an Otterbox case when getting yet another phone and let’s just say that he’s already had it for over a year — so far, so good!

In fact, The Source’s sale doesn’t only extend to Otterbox phone cases, but also to other accessories like the Otterbox utility latch. It’s on sale for just $23.99 (reg. $39.99) and is essentially a set of straps that you can use to secure your tablet to either any flat surface or your hand. It also comes with an accessory storage bag. I love that it can be used to secure a tablet to your hand as I tend to use my tablet in bed the most and it would super handy to watch movies without having to hold the tablet awkwardly and uncomfortably. At Amazon, this same product is actually $54.97 right now.

Usually, a $4.99 shipping charge would apply to any order but right now, you can use either The Source coupon code:  TS499 or TS4411 to get absolutely free shipping on any order.

Rogers: Reserve a Samsung Galaxy S5 and get a $50 Pre Paid Mastercard (Only 10,000 Available)

Reserve Samsung’s newest flagship phone at Rogers and get a $50 prepaid Mastercard!

This is a limited quantity offer so I don’t know how many are left or how long it will last. If you want to get in on this deal, do it right now.

If you are one of the first 10,000 people to reserve the new Samsung Galaxy S5 on a two year plan from Rogers, you will get a $50 pre-paid Mastercard which is good, because these phones are getting expensive. The pre-paid card won’t be a physical card, it will be on this totally awesome new technology called SureTap, which is going to be a place to pay for things using your smartphone! I had the OG Galaxy S and I currently have a Galaxy Note II both of which were going for $200 on a two year plan. I think I got a deal on the Note II but still, it was retailing at $200. And I thought $200 was expensive. Now they are bumping it up to $249.99. Why, back in my day I could go to the phone store with a nickel, buy three smart phones and still have enough left to make a mortgage payment.

But that’s just the way things go nowadays so you might as well take advantage of the deal and get a great phone while you’re at it. The Samsung phones really are great hardware. If you have a Galaxy S4 or a higher end phone from that generation, you probably don’t need to upgrade as the jump isn’t that great but if you have something around a Galaxy S3 or a lower end phone, this is a great one to get.

(Expires: 10 April 2014 or after 10,000 have been reserved)

Roam Mobility: Super Cheap Talk+Text+Data Plans for Travelling to the U.S.

Roam Mobility: Super Cheap Talk+Text+Data Plans for Travelling to the U.S.

Get super cheap talk, text and data with Roam Mobility’s U.S. phone plans!

I’ve been looking for this service forever. Every time I go to the states I call Bell in the vain hope that I won’t have to pay an insane amount of money for almost no service. It never happens. I always end up just turning off my data and using my talk and text extremely sparingly. Roam Mobility offers super cheap plans that can include talk, text and data, just talk and text or just data for super cheap while you’re travelling to the states. Make sure you check out their plans.

You need to pick up either a $19.99 SIM for your unlocked phone, a $49.99 Roam Mobility Breeze phone or a $99.99 Liberty mobile hotspot from their products page then you get a plan to cover the number of days and amount of data you’ll need for your trip to the states. The plans, like I mentioned, are super cheap so make sure you check them out. I will definitely be getting one of these for my next U.S. shopping trip coming up around March. I might even get two so my wife can have one too.

Bell Mobility Canada: Save $100 When You Buy the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear!

Bell Mobility Canada: Save $100 When You Buy the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear!Get the latest Android smartphone and the newest kid on the wearable technology block for $100 less from Samsung and Bell Canada!

To get to this deal click the above link and scroll down to the “Get Galaxy Gear” links and click the one for the colour you want.

Wearable technology is the next big thing. Apparently. I don’t know. I’m down with wearable technology (and OPP) but I’m a little sick and tired of all the pundits who are trying to validate their use of it. No one out there will actually say it’s really cool to take pictures, read texts and do all this other stuff from their watch. For whatever reason these dummies just need to go on about stuff like their quantified self. This is the idea of knowing your blood pressure, heart rate, blood oxygen level, how many steps you’ve taken, how well you’re sleeping and all that other stuff from wearing some piece of technology. It’s fine to know all that stutff but come on, that’s not the real reason for wanting wearable technology, that’s just an excuse to be a big, big dork.

Okay, rant over. Samsung’s Galaxy Gear was released in concert with the Galaxy Note 3. If you want both of these (and who wouldn’t) then you can get them for $100 less at Bell. The Galaxy Gear is normally $329.90 but you’ll get it for $229.90 plus the cost of the phone which will either be $299.95 on a 2 year contract or $799.95 outright. I have a Galaxy Note 2 and I absolutely love it. I would highly suggest the Note 3 to anyone looking to get a new phone. And no, it’s not too big!

September 22 Emergency Hand Crank USB Phone Charger $3.79 + Free Shipping

Posted by on September 22, 2013 at 8:00 PM Emergency Hand Crank USB Phone Charger $3.79 + Free Shipping

Get some juice in the middle of an emergency with this hand crank USB phone charger from FocalPrice!

This charger is only $3.79 and they have free worldwide shipping. This same unit on Amazon is $4.75, but is not sold by Amazon Canada. Other units like this can range all the way up to $70 or more.

Why in the world would you want to hand charge your phone? Well, for emergencies, basically. Winter is coming and you know that somewhere, a metric pant-load of ice is going to fall and take out the power for a week. You’re going to want to conserve juice, but eventually the battery is going to die and you’re going to want to make a phone call to make sure a relative is okay or call 911 to report an emergency.

For the sake of $3.79 (with free shipping) this is a no-brainer. It’s the same concept as the old dynamo camping radios you may have had when you were a kid, or even the new high tech ones they sell now. You turn the crank, it produces electricity and charges anything plugged into the USB. Now, a hand crank USB charger is a terribly inefficient unit, so you really have to crank this thing like a crazy person to get any power out of it. This isn’t something you’re going to power the phone up with every morning. It’s an emergency-only kind of thing.

Samsung and Apple are the kings of mobile devices. They make the best, they sell the most. There is a problem with both of these phones though: they’re fragile. They’re fragile in different ways though. Samsung phones are fragile like knee pads are fragile. If you fall, the knee pads are going to get scratched up. They still work and if you don’t like that they are scratched, you buy a new one. If your Samsung phone gets scratched, it’s probably going to be on the removable plastic back. You can buy a new one and toss the old one. The iPhone is like a diamond. It’s pretty but if you damage it you need to buy a new diamond. You can’t just replace a part for a few bucks. Same thing for iPads but to a lesser extent.

But regardless of which phone you have, you should protect it. Black’s has tons of great cases and they are all 25% off with the coupon code above! For more deals from Black’s check out our Black’s Coupon Codes!

Shipping varies, depending on your location.

Do you have kneepads or a diamond? Is that the weirdest way to represent phones? Find out next week! … or in the comments. Yeah, leave a comment below!

Telus Canada: Save Up To $100 On HTC One With Trade In! (In Store)

The HTC One is one of the hottest phones out there, and Telus wants you to have it. Trade in your old phone and get a huge discount!

The deal is simple. You trade in any old cell phone and you get $100 credit towards the HTC One. On a three year contract, the HTC One is only $149, so a $100 savings means you only pay $49 for one of the BEST smartphones out there! I can’t see anywhere that it says there is a limit to what kind of phone it is, so I can imagine you could bring in your Nokia flip phone from nine years ago and still get this deal. You should also be aware that this is for new or renewing customers only, and is only valid for certain plans.

Telus Canada: Save Up To $100 On HTC One With Trade In! (In Store)This phone is one of the best phones out there right now. Besides the fact that it looks really, really cool and has that super thin bezel, it is a power house. Look at these specs:

  • Android 4.2
  • 4MP UltraPixel Camera
  • 1080p Video
  • 4.7″ full HD screen
  • 1.7 GHz Quad-Core processor

I think the best thing about this phone is the full HD screen. I haven’t used this phone yet, but I’ve heard that the video looks absolutely amazing on it.
