Rogers: Reserve a Samsung Galaxy S5 and get a $50 Pre Paid Mastercard (Only 10,000 Available)

Reserve Samsung’s newest flagship phone at Rogers and get a $50 prepaid Mastercard!

This is a limited quantity offer so I don’t know how many are left or how long it will last. If you want to get in on this deal, do it right now.

If you are one of the first 10,000 people to reserve the new Samsung Galaxy S5 on a two year plan from Rogers, you will get a $50 pre-paid Mastercard which is good, because these phones are getting expensive. The pre-paid card won’t be a physical card, it will be on this totally awesome new technology called SureTap, which is going to be a place to pay for things using your smartphone! I had the OG Galaxy S and I currently have a Galaxy Note II both of which were going for $200 on a two year plan. I think I got a deal on the Note II but still, it was retailing at $200. And I thought $200 was expensive. Now they are bumping it up to $249.99. Why, back in my day I could go to the phone store with a nickel, buy three smart phones and still have enough left to make a mortgage payment.

But that’s just the way things go nowadays so you might as well take advantage of the deal and get a great phone while you’re at it. The Samsung phones really are great hardware. If you have a Galaxy S4 or a higher end phone from that generation, you probably don’t need to upgrade as the jump isn’t that great but if you have something around a Galaxy S3 or a lower end phone, this is a great one to get.

(Expires: 10 April 2014 or after 10,000 have been reserved)

Roam Mobility: Super Cheap Talk+Text+Data Plans for Travelling to the U.S.

Get super cheap talk, text and data with Roam Mobility’s U.S. phone plans!

I’ve been looking for this service forever. Every time I go to the states I call Bell in the vain hope that I won’t have to pay an insane amount of money for almost no service. It never happens. I always end up just turning off my data and using my talk and text extremely sparingly. Roam Mobility offers super cheap plans that can include talk, text and data, just talk and text or just data for super cheap while you’re travelling to the states. Make sure you check out their plans.

You need to pick up either a $19.99 SIM for your unlocked phone, a $49.99 Roam Mobility Breeze phone or a $99.99 Liberty mobile hotspot from their products page then you get a plan to cover the number of days and amount of data you’ll need for your trip to the states. The plans, like I mentioned, are super cheap so make sure you check them out. I will definitely be getting one of these for my next U.S. shopping trip coming up around March. I might even get two so my wife can have one too.

Bell Mobility Canada: Save $100 When You Buy the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear!

Bell Mobility Canada: Save $100 When You Buy the Galaxy Note 3 and Galaxy Gear!Get the latest Android smartphone and the newest kid on the wearable technology block for $100 less from Samsung and Bell Canada!

To get to this deal click the above link and scroll down to the “Get Galaxy Gear” links and click the one for the colour you want.

Wearable technology is the next big thing. Apparently. I don’t know. I’m down with wearable technology (and OPP) but I’m a little sick and tired of all the pundits who are trying to validate their use of it. No one out there will actually say it’s really cool to take pictures, read texts and do all this other stuff from their watch. For whatever reason these dummies just need to go on about stuff like their quantified self. This is the idea of knowing your blood pressure, heart rate, blood oxygen level, how many steps you’ve taken, how well you’re sleeping and all that other stuff from wearing some piece of technology. It’s fine to know all that stutff but come on, that’s not the real reason for wanting wearable technology, that’s just an excuse to be a big, big dork.

Okay, rant over. Samsung’s Galaxy Gear was released in concert with the Galaxy Note 3. If you want both of these (and who wouldn’t) then you can get them for $100 less at Bell. The Galaxy Gear is normally $329.90 but you’ll get it for $229.90 plus the cost of the phone which will either be $299.95 on a 2 year contract or $799.95 outright. I have a Galaxy Note 2 and I absolutely love it. I would highly suggest the Note 3 to anyone looking to get a new phone. And no, it’s not too big!

September 22 Emergency Hand Crank USB Phone Charger $3.79 + Free Shipping

Posted by on September 22, 2013 at 8:00 PM Emergency Hand Crank USB Phone Charger $3.79 + Free Shipping

Get some juice in the middle of an emergency with this hand crank USB phone charger from FocalPrice!

This charger is only $3.79 and they have free worldwide shipping. This same unit on Amazon is $4.75, but is not sold by Amazon Canada. Other units like this can range all the way up to $70 or more.

Why in the world would you want to hand charge your phone? Well, for emergencies, basically. Winter is coming and you know that somewhere, a metric pant-load of ice is going to fall and take out the power for a week. You’re going to want to conserve juice, but eventually the battery is going to die and you’re going to want to make a phone call to make sure a relative is okay or call 911 to report an emergency.

For the sake of $3.79 (with free shipping) this is a no-brainer. It’s the same concept as the old dynamo camping radios you may have had when you were a kid, or even the new high tech ones they sell now. You turn the crank, it produces electricity and charges anything plugged into the USB. Now, a hand crank USB charger is a terribly inefficient unit, so you really have to crank this thing like a crazy person to get any power out of it. This isn’t something you’re going to power the phone up with every morning. It’s an emergency-only kind of thing.

Samsung and Apple are the kings of mobile devices. They make the best, they sell the most. There is a problem with both of these phones though: they’re fragile. They’re fragile in different ways though. Samsung phones are fragile like knee pads are fragile. If you fall, the knee pads are going to get scratched up. They still work and if you don’t like that they are scratched, you buy a new one. If your Samsung phone gets scratched, it’s probably going to be on the removable plastic back. You can buy a new one and toss the old one. The iPhone is like a diamond. It’s pretty but if you damage it you need to buy a new diamond. You can’t just replace a part for a few bucks. Same thing for iPads but to a lesser extent.

But regardless of which phone you have, you should protect it. Black’s has tons of great cases and they are all 25% off with the coupon code above! For more deals from Black’s check out our Black’s Coupon Codes!

Shipping varies, depending on your location.

Do you have kneepads or a diamond? Is that the weirdest way to represent phones? Find out next week! … or in the comments. Yeah, leave a comment below!

Telus Canada: Save Up To $100 On HTC One With Trade-In! (In Store)

Telus Canada: Save Up To $100 On HTC One With Trade In! (In Store)

The HTC One is one of the hottest phones out there, and Telus wants you to have it. Trade in your old phone and get a huge discount!

The deal is simple. You trade in any old cell phone and you get $100 credit towards the HTC One. On a three year contract, the HTC One is only $149, so a $100 savings means you only pay $49 for one of the BEST smartphones out there! I can’t see anywhere that it says there is a limit to what kind of phone it is, so I can imagine you could bring in your Nokia flip phone from nine years ago and still get this deal. You should also be aware that this is for new or renewing customers only, and is only valid for certain plans.

Telus Canada: Save Up To $100 On HTC One With Trade In! (In Store)This phone is one of the best phones out there right now. Besides the fact that it looks really, really cool and has that super thin bezel, it is a power house. Look at these specs:

  • Android 4.2
  • 4MP UltraPixel Camera
  • 1080p Video
  • 4.7″ full HD screen
  • 1.7 GHz Quad-Core processor

I think the best thing about this phone is the full HD screen. I haven’t used this phone yet, but I’ve heard that the video looks absolutely amazing on it.
